Just think only about the 5% player base that is pushing/grinding the gr meta. That's why you often see "D3 is dead" because the other 95% quit the game because of lack of content.

PheX- posted a message on D3 duration and pricePosted in: Diablo III General DiscussionThe problem is that they are not PoE players ranting about other games. They are actually Diablo fans that have grinded this game a lot and eventually decided to quit because of lack of new content and gameplay issues. They switched to PoE, WoW or any other game and they are giving their opinion on the current state of D3 after experimenting other things. I haven't ever played PoE but i might just try it out.

PheX- posted a message on D3 duration and pricePosted in: Diablo III General DiscussionWhat's really fucked up is the GR meta in this game. Eventually progression slows down once you have all gear ancient at let's say 85% perfection. At that point all you have to do is level up gems/paragons/augment items. The problem with this is that is conditionated by the people you play GRs with. Public GRs lobbies are a complete shitshow and a good and stable group is hard to find.
You could say there is a lot of builds to try out. But the effectiveness is always conditionated by gems/paragons/augments. At that point you probably quit the game until next season just to see what's new. I haven't played PoE but i'm quite sure it's much better than D3 at this point. Playing for leaderboards takes an insane amount of time and even solo leaderboards requires to go multiplayer just for the upgrades.
I was really excited for Primal Ancient items this season. But after seeing that you can get 2 or more bad rolls on them making your ancient item better than the "end game" item, i'm not excited anymore.

Both games has advantages and disadvantages. PoE is in great shape right now and will be insanely better with a huge 3.0 expansion (where all game difficulties are no more).
Necromancer, on the other hand will have people playin for maybe a week or two. Maybe a month to farm all ancient legendary gear and sets and that's all, it's exhausted. Diablo 3 cannot compete with any MMO atm because there is simply not enough content added. 1 reworked legendary in 3 months is not enough.
I dropped PoE about 2 years ago for the reasons stated above: shitty grapphics, awkward gameplay. But decided to return for current league and oh my gawd the game is so much better now. It's insane how it has improved over last 2 years. And leaderboards are just a small thing in PoE. there's racing events and such which happen during and between the leagues, plenty of stuff. Patches are daily. A lot of things to do. Do maps or farm cards or do prophecies or run in magic find gear or kill bosses. There's also 126 unique maps to explore lol. ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY SIX maps lol. I only cleared 56 for now and league ends in 2 weeks.
Both games are good, both games have pros and cons. But D3 is for people who want to grind and make leaderboards. More casuals are drawn to poe because of "diversity" and casuals make up the majority of the player base. D3 is a great game but needs a new face.Strongly disagree in this point.
D3 now is left for stubborn botters mostly. Leaderboards are long time ruined by botting.
+ some casuals who started playing seasons on console.
Most old competetitive players long time left to PoE, WOW and other games. Look at Alkaizer, Quin, Datmodz, Kripp, Empyrian, wudijo, Chainer. Some might be back (me including) when Necro comes out, but not for long.
PoE is not for casuals at all, casual will understand nothing there, the learning curve is waaay to complex. Of cause you can click your way through mercy but you know It takes a while to learn everything. -

Angry_Roleplayer posted a message on D3 duration and pricePosted in: Diablo III General DiscussionI also really like the XP penalty in PoE. You actually need to watch your step and think twice before entering high level maps and some bosses. In D3 it's just straighforwards = you either fish for density or a boss. You die and resurrect and go on. In PoE if you die near end game you can lose a half day worth of XP.

you can steamroll in normal difficulty too, will it be as fun as it was?
changing skills, items, making new builds and things like that should not come at a cost of reverse progress. while i was able to do GR 70 with the first set i had on my hand(zunimassa, the one who i got free with headrigs gifts) somehow i am expected to be happy with gr 30 after i gather all those loots? do you see whats wrong with your suggestion? more time and more loot investment just for some terrible performing items/builds/synergy. thats exactly what i call "unrewarding", and steals every bits of excitement left for me to play game for more time. if i am not able to continue my progress, i am not gonna be able to make alternate builds to change the way i play the game every once in a while, then whats the point of playing it anymore? the build i started at the beginning of season is still by far the strongest one... so why would i even care unrelated item drops? wheres the exciting item grinding, adaptation, challenge in that?
and by the why, one must mention the long forgotten issue; we all are using the exact same skills/items so our characters are exactly, identically same as other. if skills/items are the only way that can offer any uniquness to my hero, than please let me be able to do so. offer some interesting alternate paths so i can make a different WD.
by the way, im not targeting some random builds, there are special legendaries for certain use. i just posted 2 of them, please look at them and say they are "random" if you can. they are not. they are constructed for a grasp of the dead oriented build.. tell me, is there any grasp of the dead in use now? did you ever even see anyone using grasp of the dead, let alone a unique build made for it? answer is no. no one uses that. -

Cleglaw_Xendlar posted a message on Useless stuff all over the place.Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionHi. Lately i feel very disapointed about d3 after having played season 10 with my WD for a quite time.
my wd is 560 paragon levels, and beaten GR 71 as of now. i was really enjoying the game, feeling of progression and experimenting stuff.. but it stopped.
my problem at this point is.. not about lack of endgame content or atmosphere(.now of course those are issues, but they are already spoken a lot and i see no reason to discuss endgame or atmosphere of d3.) it is.. the lack of diversity, illusion of diversity in this game.
grasp of the dead... sacrifice... zombie bears.. all those skills... primary skills... lots of passive skills... there are tons of useless skills that drives me angry when i try to make builds for them, because simply, they DONT WORK!
and even worse, there are lots of cool looking items ---which are acctually not cool enough--- make one believe that you can do something if you use them... WRONG! apparently thats just an illusion. when you really put them on, and try to slay some demons, you see you just suck! you deal no damage or die instantly or both!
this game is very unbalanced and this really disturbs me. more then half a content for wd is just in the game to create an illusion of choice... i suspect same thing goes on with other heroes too. after all these years of developement AND even moving on to design another hero(necro) one expects core game to be in a good position allready... but im not seeing that at all!
i think devs should inspect closer and test every single item, tweak numbers here and there, and if necessary, even add some new items to make some combinations possible to work as they should. i ve only seen such change for spirit barrage, only 1 skill in whole wd skillset. its not useless anymore thankfully but.. saying again, its only 1 skill among all those useless pile of skills/items.
and theres also another issue, some usefull skills have wierd problems to be solved... for example soul harvest skill.. its very problematic when you enter boss fight, especcialy againts boss who are far, far away from white mobs... like the way to cydea. how am i supposed to use and stack this skill in cydea fight? frustrating...
to cut it short, i think there is a big unthouched sad pile of useless stuff in d3 still which are still not adressed/fixed.
whats your thoughts on this ?
btw, im sorry if my english is too bad and if makes it difficult to understand. -

PheX- posted a message on Time to buff solo??Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionNot nly the paragon levels, the gem leveling is crazy in groups. Try to get gems passed 100 as a solo dh.

You are misunderstanding. There are people who don't WANT to play in groups. It is not as simple as finding friends. This is not an mmorpg, its solo playability should be a prime concern. You should not "need" to rely on others. In the current system, in group play is the only way to excel in solo. That is a problem.
I get the idea about the problem; however, I think your solution isn't the best way. If you're having trouble finding people to play with that are good, maybe you need to find a good community. It isn't hard to check someone's character before joining a group with them *GRANTED- that does take time when8 people want to group and only 3 of them are worthwhile or have legit geared characters and paragon*. I thought this would turn into a "Here's my battlenet account name- I play at these times and these are the characters I main- and here are the build(s) I have (zdps/dps/etc)."
Just my thought- I never was a big group player but in games where I needed it, reaching out on websites/communities like this helped. (Rhykker or Shinobi communities used to be good... I think rhykker is one of the main ones that still plays...and I'm unsure if deadset has a community).

Yeah, it's tough to buy into the notion of the drop rate of Primals being way too low when I see Alkaizer getting about one an hour. Over the course of a season, that isn't all that rare.
1
Having rare items that aren't needed except by the people who already play absurd hours and push leaderboards is fine. It's not like anyone won't be able to make their goals without any primals whatsoever except people who will eventually get their primals anyway.
The thought that you need trading in a game just because of items that really have only a small impact anyway except to the people at the very top of the leaderboard the way they are designed is just absurd. Only Primal Weapons will have much impact, primal Armor doesn't seem very impactful at all.

I would be stunned if we don't get D4 eventually. Although eventually may be half a decade or a decade from now. D3 sold over a billion dollars worth of software. When they can't squeeze any more money out of class packs and the like, they will eventually make a sequel.
Personally, I think the future of D3 is just the low effort we've seen in '16 and '17, and whether we ever see any more class packs will depend on how well the Necro pack sells. Personally, I hope its a flop because the sooner they close the chapter on 3, the sooner they can really push development of 4.

Once you have trading with clans, you may as well have trading with everyone. Considering the high droprate and the Smartloot mechanics, there really is no point to also having trading. There are already more than enough benefits to being in a good, well run clan where we don't need to add more benefits to Clans.

A feeling of character progression is key to me.
Killing new content (not just the same procedurally generated rifts you've been fighting since level 1) and gaining new skills and getting new gear as the game goes on really makes the game feel fresh and challenging. The D3 treadmill where leveling to 70 is an almost irrelevant nuisance, then you get geared in a brief window, and then you spend the rest of the season on the same treadmill, adding a lot of mainstat to your build and replacing existing items with new items that are the same, but have more mainstat and adding augments that have more mainstat is just a recipe for boredom with the game.
Currently D3 has three phases
1) Leveling to 70 (a matter of hours for experienced players)
2) Getting geared up (getting yourself all the items in your template, but not necessarily your final gear) this is hours to days for experienced players)
3) Quest for mainstat (the bulk of the season) - The rest of the season you just add more mainstat from things like Ancients, Augments, and paragons, to the extent mainstat hits diminishing return and you are rolling it off your gear for stats like AD and CDR and the like. The only gear you are interested in is better rolled versions of the gear you are currently wearing. Sadly, as seen by the many people who aren't interested in this quest and bail after a week or so, this quest doesn't resonate with many people.

I don't think the Primals are particularly bad, and the low drop rate actually helps to extend the loot grind, which is a plus. Realistically, unless they change the kanai's cube augment for primal armor, you are really only going to give a shit about the weapon, anyway, and anyone who plays enough will be able to get that done before the season is out with Kanai's cube crafting and drops.
My only problem with the design is how lazy of a change it is, and how it indicates that the design team isn't exactly full of exciting new ideas. It doesn't bode well for D4.
1
Personally, I just think it is hilarious how well it illustrates the existing D3 Blizzard Dev team stereotype of being lazy and uncreative and how little Blizzard corporate cares about D3.
1
They may well go ahead with them, and honestly it probably doesn't matter. Anyone who farms paragons enough to be at the top of the boards is going to end up with primal ancient weapons anyway just because of the high loot drop rate at high GRs plus crafting and I doubt primal ancient armors will really make a huge difference.
I don't think primal ancient is a calamity for the game, but it isn't exactly a solution. It's just a lazy buff added to the game by a lazy, underfinanced dev team.

I dream of the day I'm doing GR 264 with my
SUPER MEGA UBER PRIMAL ANCIENT LEGENDARIES!!!!

Lol. Higher Multiple Weapons and Armor so we can fight higher multiple health and damage mobs in higher rifts.
It's almost at the point of self-parody.
