Does the new macbook pro 13 inch run diablo 3 fairly well?
my 2009 macbook aluminum runs it fine

Is that a 13'' macbook? My friend got into the beta yesterday and we tested the game and it was pretty much unplayable, very very low frame rate in the outside areas, acceptable in indoors areas. Only hope we have for the full game is that there will be a 'low' graphics option (right now the only options are medium and high) with lower requirements.

posted a message on Issues with Shadow Quality: High
I've always wondered why shadows have such a massive impact on framerate, I have a lower-end computer and the first thing I have to turn down with frame rate issues is the shadow quality. Anyone care to educate me?

Worthless points....ohh I mean achievement points, are indeed worthless.

How can you seriously have a problem with co-op achievements?

Because you don't like playing with others, you don't want people who do to get achievements? :P

Well it is a single player game with co-op, not a co-op game with some single player.

Thanks for letting us know, Mysticjbyrd, apparent project leader of diablo 3.

Ranks 4-7 are tied again to Inferno difficulty

I'm not sure if it was like this before but the unattuned runestones lvls 2 to 7 (not 1)! are 'crafted by mystic' now

posted a message on Gems lvl 1 req only?
I believe I read that they were only having gems from levels 1-5 drop, and that everything else would be crafted, so a base drop rate of 3 or 4 would be more accurate.

This sort of implies that untatuned runes are still in the game, if they had changed their mind about it by now the page would not have been updated in this way. This also gives the jewelcrafter a new job besides combining gemstones (assuming it is him and not the mystic doing this).

1 I agree with completely, I really don't like this about the monk. And frankly I'm surprised demon hunters are not restricted to ranged weapons for their abilities.

    2. Doesn't bother me and I quite like the feel of corpses flying all over the place when you are mashing them.

    3. I disagree, I get what you are saying but I do not think it is exaggerated from what we saw so far.

My best guess is what Blizzard has stated themselves. In 04 they started game production, 06 there was a huge shift from Blizzard north to Blizzard in Irvine aka Blizzard south. They revamped the whole game because it was going more MMO. The screenies show its outdated engine and its poor artwork and poor camera angles. At this time they went back to the drawing board with some story and all the game's engine/details out of the window. from 06-08 they started to work on the Barb and DH, DH didn't fit well so they threw in the WD instead. They finished the tristram cathedral and that set the stage for the 08 release video. In this time they also got finished with the first cinematic, so far this is literally all we've seen. By 09 they have started new ideas changed the GUI a little to make it nicer and less Wowish, they've showcased a new class or two and are working hard on the game. 2010 rolls along with the final class announcement and the showcasing of different runestones on certain skills, showing this may be the first finished skill from each class. By this time they are well underway with the finishing of most of the acts. 2011 rolls in and by now they are probably in Overtime mode. They work longer to test and play the game over and over to check for bugs/glitches and have started integrating battle.net with the game and all of the Diablo 3 websites new features. By this time today they are probably still testing internally finding lots of bugs and sayiog shit we need more time to fix all these, thus the push back to 2012 although that should've been suspected because well let's face it every blizzard game gets pushed back at some point. So really it has been 5 years and it's nearing 6 if you count the under wraps development.

Do you have some links to those outdated screenshots? I would be very interested in seeing them.

posted a message on Is no one going to play harcore?
I never played Hardcore (or even non-hardcore beyond normal) but I definitely plan on doing it this time, although I do think I will spend most my time playing non-hardcore. I do think making builds etc already is a little silly as no-one has any idea of what the game is like beyond the skeleton king at normal, but whatever.

All I know of my HC chars is that they will have the opposite gender of the nonHC chars I make.

I'm pretty sure a new macbook pro or air (depends on your specs of course, some pros have less muscle under their hood) can run Diablo 3 perfectly, at least with medium or even high settings. The game is not that demanding and the new models have pretty decent gfx chips.

The 15 and 17 inch models yes, but he has a 13 inch, which means he has an intel HD 3000 integrated graphics chip, I doubt he will run it on medium

The system requirements are the same as for starcraft 2, and the 13'' 2009 I have runs starcraft 2 fine on low settings so I imagine it should run fine. Diablo 3 on low looks a lot prettier than starcraft 2 on low however, but I trust Blizzard.
