Thanks for all the great answers.
I will try if WotB:ToC works with me. I did try before and couldn't keep it up so I ditched it again. Worth another try. I plan on getting IK chest and boots in the long run for the fury boost and maybe a hammer cost reducing item. That would be a big help with my build as I could switch some fury skills for more useful ones. They are very expensive though and I might skip them If I get my hands on other cheaper alternatives
Before I had a Crit Amu for 55% CC. It lacked some other stats though. But I will definitely go there again. Same with me regarding HotA and WW did use the Hammer from day 1 just cause I like killing stuff with one blow.
I agree on dual wield being best. It is just so expensive getting high crit, high DPS 1h weapons best with Str/Vit/LL also. Thats why I use a SKorn because it was cheap. I might go DW though in the future.
And thanks for your opinion regarding my strange gear. I know it is unusual. Especially the Compass Rose/Travelers Pledge, they did serve me well with the high MF but it is time to ditch them.
So I think I will go for a better chest next as it might be cheap and after that I will go for ring and amu. But I will save some money first because I don't want to loose too much stats compared to now.
After that I will switch my IK stuff with better ones. Hopefully I will be able to get some nice IK boots/chest also. But I do not mind some Ice Climbers/Fire Walkers dropping :-) then I skip the 5-IK.

Hi there,Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
I am playing a barb with a HotA build. Mainly because I got myself a Skorn and I do not like the style of WW although I know that it is very good.
I do this build for MP3 farming:
I am on constant 90-135 fury with this build raising my Crit chance for Hammer by a significant amount. This is needed of course as I got only 46%. The Stun and rend give me my survivability.
For harder difficulties I use this:
Maybe you can give me some advice on which slot I should upgrade first. I am thinking of ditching the Endless Path Set amulet and ring. Mainly because I am missing Crit Chance on the amulet. I could switch to lacunis then to retain my movement speed from the ring. What should I go for in amulet and ring and which slots to change also? Atm. I am very broke at only

Get a Stormshield. It is very cheap atm. and performs great together with your Helm of command. I had one before I went Skorn and it served me well.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
There are good ones for as cheap as 100k. Only the ones with crit are expensive.
After that I'd go for IK Gloves and Belt as they are cheap too and very good.

@Adhal I think you are missing the point here. If you have frenzy and therefore a generator without CD it is obvious you have no problems generating the fury. The question guttu was asking was for Hammer-Only builds where you skip the basic generator to have one more slot available.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
Apart from that the build you are using is pretty good.

Without cost reduce I made these observations:Quote from guttuI really like to understand how you can generate fury .. or do a boss fight without pushing a few hammer and ... a lot "default skill"
edit : is the crit with into the fray enough for sustain hammer ?
When fighting multiple enemies Fury will always stay at max.
This can be also done with alot of champion packs with smart positioning.
In rare situations when you are fighting only single targets or champion packs will be too scattered to hit multiple enemies it will not suffice.
You then have the following options:
A> Just hold your left mouse and use high fury generators to fully bridge the gap when your fury runs low.
B> Use hit and run tactics having a few seconds (not more than 1-5) not attacking and waiting for your generator cooldowns. You can use the time to collect globes and for smart repositioning to escape arcane and other zones or just for collecting mobs for option C.
C> Pull more mobs to the champions. These will give you more fury and life.
D> Make a basic attack.
The last one is the worst option of course. I think stoolsofteners build might have too few fury generated with just leap and stomp for Option A. It might work with 5x IK though. With my build above I have no problem using option A because of the 2 fury runed skills + Animosity. My fury will never empty even on a single target enemy like when fighting the UberBoss Siegebreaker for 3+ minutes. But I often find myself using B and C on packs. Option B to evade molten and arcane effects and charge back in the fight. Option C just to improve kill speed and survivability. I often have less problems fighting a horde of enemies +1-2 chamions/rares than I have just fighting a single ranged champion pack without any adds. If I encounter such enemies I usually run past them until I find more mobs that I can fight together with the pack.

I agree with Kanhe. I think it is bad advice to suggest WW build for normal ppl after the recent nerf.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
Reason is you need really expensive gear to make WW work better than other specs.
Lets assume me for example. While I am an experienced gamer I also have other games I play plus a demanding job and other hobbies. Because of that I am still below paragon level 20 and only have a very limited gold budget. Last week I was doing 1h+shield with under 30k DPS and very bad stats. I was doing mediocre speed MP1 runs. This weekend I had some lucky drops and found some legendaries that sold for slightly over 100 million. I nearly changed all my gear with that.
Key for my new success was buying a Skorn 2h with decent DPS and some cheap IK items plus cheap items with decent STR/Crit. I am now at 90k DPS with 50k HP and a build that uses constant HotA as base attack:
I just tested this morning and can do MP3 runs faster now than I did the MP1 2 weeks ago. And I can also do MP5 easily for Key farming.
I suggest this guide by Cudez http://www.diablofans.com/topic/74188-105-hammer-of-the-ancients-builds/page__p__1064747#entry1064747 for HotA. Really worked nice for me. He is suggesting DW over 2h and I agree on that if you can afford it. But if you got only a few millions a cheap Skorn will always be the best DPS because of the innate Crit, Socket and Str that no other item has. So as you got only 50 mio I suggest buying a 10-20 mio Skorn and armor for the rest. IK belt and gloves are very good for their price. You can also get some cheap rares with nice Str/Vit/Res/Crit as long as you don't search for items having all the stats on them. Miss one or two of those on each slot for higher values on the rest and then mix the slots. Once you farm tens-hundreds of millions with the Skorn you can get back to DW.
PS.: I am not saying this is the ultimate advice just that it worked for me when I was in your situation.

Thanks again for this great guide. I will definitely do those builds once I get the gear.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
Meanwhile I will do my gearless Hammer build:
This I tested in PTR and it will keep your fury at a constant 60-120 fury even without any gear. Once you are getting better gear wise you can switch more in direction of Cudez builds.

I tested my Hammer only build on public test realm yesterday and I am really happy that it worked without any cost reducing items:Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
Overpower and Charge together with Into The Fray keep me at a constant 60-120 fury. Of course I will try to get one or two cost reducing items in the long run. But the good news is I do not have to rush it now. I can go for a good one instead of sacrificing other stats just for Maras Kaleidoscope.
@Hellfire Ring: It should do XXX % of your weapon damage instead of a fixed value. Otherwise it is just imbalanced.

Yeah I got bored of D3 shortly after release and now only recently rejoined. So because of that my gear is not that good. Thanks for answering my questions I greatly appreciate the advice from an experienced player like yours. I think I will buy a Kaledoscope. Might have to sell some hoarded Uniques for that as it is pretty expensive but it should work. My stormshield I'd keep for now as getting an equally good item with additional HotA reduce might be pricey so I'd better invest in another slot.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
I will try this build then:
I think the combination of Furious Charge, Overpower and Animosity should solve the fury generation problem.
Also thank you for your Test Realm offer. I am in Munich though with my company until tomorrow evening (Oktoberfest). I'd try that Wednesday or the days after and send you a message if you are online.
