Well, I'm glad you changed your life around. Congratulations and all fortune to you.

And it's good that you're proud. But... humility is a virtue. Bragging about muscles, girls, and your awesome life is kinda douchey.

edit: the ''musculation'' tag is gold.

    Quote from Tzalix

Gold selling is not in yet.

But according to the Diablo III Auction House - Functionality page on battle.net:

In the real-money auction house, the minimum you can list an item for is $1.25 USD (or equivalent local currency). The minimum listing price for commodities is $0.25 (or equivalent local currency). The maximum you can set is $250 USD.

This would imply that 1000 gold will have a minimum worth of €/£ 0.25

How did you come to this conclusion? Isn't it just that any amount of gold can't be sold for less than €/£ 0.25?

Let's say you wanna buy a million gold, which isn't that much. If 0.25 = 1000, you would have to multiply 0.25 by 1000 and then you get 250 €/£. I can not see how 1 000 000 gold would cost 250 €/£...

posted a message on My personal experience of D3, a feedback thread.
I've posted this on the battle.net forums, but I figured I might as well post it here as well:)

I’d like to take the time and share my experience of D3 so far. Blizzard has shown through all the blue posts, the reddit Q&A, and recent patches that they care about and want community feedback. I would therefore like to give mine. I will focus my feedback on gameplay in the higher difficulties, because, well, that’s where I’m at right now.

I’m not here to teach game design, because I’ve never actually designed a game, and I have never taken any classes on the subject. I can only discuss my personal experience with Diablo 3, so that’s what I’m going to do. Some of what I write here might have been repeated in other threads, because other people might have had experiences that are similar to mine.

I will for the most part, focus on my negative experiences. So by being clear, I’ll start off by saying that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the game. Learning new skills and putting together new builds with those skills is very fun and addictive.

I’m currently in act 4 on Inferno. I really enjoy the fact that this difficulty level is hard, but I don’t like how it is hard. For me as a player, sometimes it’s the feeling that I have little control over some phenomena that is frustrating.

Some deaths are unavoidable. A group of elites kill me, and the only sensible way of beating them (to me, at least) seems to be acquiring better gear. In some ways, I do not mind this. Getting new items, and finding out that previously unbeatable mobs can now be beaten is fine. It makes new items feel like they’re worth something. For me, this is good, since I play this game for two reasons: (1) having fun killing monsters, and (2) finding precious new loot.

What puts me off a little bit however, is that the game might be a little too focused on ‘’get better gear to beat new monsters’’ way of doing things. Let me get back to my reasons for playing the game. It makes finding new items more fun, but having fun killing monsters less fun.

I understand that items become more valuable when they are necessary for beating something. And I want items to be valuable. What puts me off a little bit is that after you acquire the gear, things start to be easy.

When the way of beating something was, in many ways, through passive damage and mitigation, and not through active use of skills, it becomes easy once you acquire what you need of passive stats. Let me get back to the feeling of control. When it’s difficult because you can’t control whether or not you take damage, it becomes easy once you start to take damage.

I’m afraid that the game as a whole starts to become easy once I acquire really, really good items. I want there to be more once I’ve achieved that. I’m not calling for an entire redesign of the inferno difficulty into something where items don’t matter, because that would seem to counter some of the purpose of the game: finding new items.
I would like there to be encounters where what I do, as in how I control my character never stops being important. I want to be rewarded by playing good, not only by having good items. In the future, I’m scared that acquiring good items make my strategic choices not matter.

These are my thoughts on the game difficulty. They might be a little rushed, and I’m sorry about that. I’m a little busy trying to balance reading for exams and playing the game:P I do hope that I get some points across. If you want me to try to explain things more clearly, I’d be happy to!

    Thank you for reading:-)

Perhaps steady aim would be a suitable alternative since you should be able to stay 10 yards (a surprisingly small distance in D3) away from mobs.

How far is 10 yards anyway? I'm using Steady Aim myself, but I'm not sure how far away I should be:p
A bit smaller than the radius of a Caltrops. It's very easy to keep it up..

What I don't get however, is why everyone likes Nether Tentacles so much. Yes, it hits Belial and Azmodan multiple times, but for everything else it's less damage than Frost Arrow, harder to target and 3% life leech isn't getting you anywhere..

    Thanks, guys!

I just really like how it's viable as both AOE and ST. The electroball-rune is great in AOE-situations, especially when coupled with slow, since it has to hit 2 times to deal the same damage as un-runed EA. This makes it kind of lackluster in ST-situations, though. With frost arrow it seems to be the other way around. Tentacles is kind of in the middle between those two, which makes it somewhat of an all-rounder skill so you don't need one skill for AOE and one skill for ST. And boom! open skillslot that can be used for something else^^

Man, D3 is fun on inferno. Cool to have a game that demands you to learn its mechanics to be able to win at all, instead of a game where skill is only defined by how quickly you win <3

How did you guys beat the butcher on inferno?

I've been trying to jump around and smoke screen, but I always die to his ranged AOE ability.

I'm currently sitting at 15,5 k dps and 25k health.

Do you guys have sick reaction time, or do you have any special tricks to not get downed by that ability?

I kinda fell for the nether tentacles version:p Switched between EA with electroball, chakrams with twin rune and multishot with fire at will earlier, but now, nether tentacles. Just love how it slows, wrecks and heals, all in one shot.
    It doesn't slow.

Nether tentacles does "weapon damage" so if he has +frost damage on his weapon (can +frost damage come from anywhere else?), it could slow for him on top of everything else. I recently started using nether tentacle and i love it.

I guess so:p My weapon has + frost damage on it, to a total of somewhere between 800-900 weapon damage.

posted a message on An attempt at making 1h crossbows and crit-centric machinegun builds work.
I've been kind of frustrated at 1h crossbows being a little underpowered compared to bows:/

I've wanted to make a crit-based machine-gun build work ever since D3 came out.

So I've been playing around with this crit-centric build that plays on a synergy effect. This is the basic idea: Crit --> Discipline --> Hatred --> Crit in an undending circle.

    Link to build: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#bWcTXd!eXf!aabZbZ

The most important abilities for this build:

    Rapid Fire (Fire Support): Spamshotter

Smoke Screen (Breathe Deep): Immortality + 12 Hatred

Companion (Bat companion): +3 Hatred every second.

    Archery: + 10% crit chance

    Night Stalker: Crit replenishes discipline.

    Perfectionist: Lowered Discipline cost.

Rapid fire (Fire Support) gives you a lot of crits, which lets you spam Smoke Screen (Breathe Deep) quite often, thanks to Night Stalker. This, in turn, lets you continue using Rapid Fire (Fire Support) without stopping.

Companion (Bat companion) and Perfectionist seem to provide a baseline of Disc and Hatred that makes this build work. The second I remove one of these though, the entire circle of Crit --> disc --> hatred breaks:/

I've been having a lot of fun with this build, but I'm sure it can be improved a lot. I'm wondering if any of you want to test this out, let me know how you feel about it, and maybe come with a few suggestions for improvement?

posted a message on Prove to me that your God exists.
I am an atheist and an agnostic. I will refer to myself as an atheist for the rest of the reply for practical reasons. I used to be Catholic, but I renounced my faith.

I chose to be atheist because religion is ultimately a question of faith. Specifically, it is ultimately a question of faith from an epistemological view that uses scientific tools to obtain knowledge. Other points of view regard personal experience, such as feeling a gods presence, as evidence of a god´s existence.

My opinion is that you need an agreed-upon method of obtaining knowledge, that can be tested in regard to how good it is at obtaining knowledge. The testable methods we are currently using (experiments, correlational studies et cetera) can not be used to test the existence of any god what so ever. No evidence, no reason to believe. In addition, science requires a paradigm in which the world is looked upon as a deterministic sequence of cause and effect, both on a large scale, and on a small scale.

I was unable to fit the concept of God into this world-view. Notice that I am speaking about the concept of God, and not God himself. These are completely different matters. Initially, I tried to resolve this issue by choosing dualism. The problem about dualism, is that it creates more problems than it solves. Interaction is just one among many. So I ended up choosing simplicity. No God, no incompatibility problems.

TLDR; I chose an atheist point of view because it is ultimately a question of belief according to my ways of obtaining knowledge, and because I got less problems with how I view the world:)

    Awesome build!

Really interesting build:) Might be annoying of me, but I tried to create my own version of this:
    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#gYdfhk!cbY!abaZZa

It has a waaay slower build-up of fury than your build, so it might not be an H-bomb build at all:p All the spells are used to increase the usefulness of whirlwind, so this might be a whirlwind build.

Action sequence: War Cry (Fury, hp regen) -> Battle Rage (for crit % + fury on crit) -> Leap attack (to engage and stun) -> Frenzy (to land the first crit as quickly as possible, so that you can use overpower earlier) -> Overpower (to get the extra crit %) -> Whirlwind (self-heal + carnage)

Passives: Ruthless and Weapons Master for crit %. Inspiring presence can be switched to something else I guess. Bloodthirst? Animosity? Unforgiving?

    @Milkfactory:

Yes you're correct, Primes would no longer need a human host IF they were "alive and well" in Hell. But as you probably know they are in the Black Abyss, from which we know only a little.
My speculation is that when Leah was conceived, Diablo left a small piece of himself in leah. Be this unintended or planned by Diablo, I don't know.

It just seems weird. Diablo using Leah to somehow getting out of the Black Abyss I can understand. Using Leah as a host body just to wreak havoc on Sanctuary I would not understand. If you can enter Sanctuary in your true form, you should. If you are stuck in the Black Abyss, you should try to get out of there, and then enter Sanctuary in your true form. If Leah plays a part in this, I would understand possessing her.

I dunno:p... Speculation is both really annoying and really enjoyable.
