Currently there is a lot of repeated information between the D3_Skills information and the Skill_Description information. It seems like a headache to maintain both as can be seen by the fact that currently the D3_Skills has different info than the Skill_Descriptions. So I came up with a pretty simple solution. I've create a new D3_Skills_Overview template (D3_Skills_Description was already taken) that uses the same parameter names as D3_Skills. By doing this and changing Data:Spells/<spell name> into a very simple template you only have to enter the data in one place. I've created samples at Data:Spells/Impale_Test, Impale_Test and Impale_Test_Overview.
I'd like to put this system in place to ease the burden of data entry in the future. However, it is a somewhat major shift so I didn't want to just put it in and have people object then have to roll it back out. There are a couple issues with my samples which I'll address below. If the sysops think this is a good idea I'll get to work on updating the files as soon as I can.
Issues:
* This would require changing Data:Skills/<skill name> to a template. Currently all templates , that I've seen, are in the Templates namespace. Not sure how big of a deal it is to add very simple template functionality to an existing page but not place it in the templates namespace. I'm open to suggestions on this one but would prefer not to have to create template pages for each skill and a data page when the templating is so trivial.
* The icon on the Impale_Test test page doesn't show because the name is based on the page name and not the spell_name_en and I didn't bother to create a new Imaple_Test.png. This won't be an issue with the final version.
* The overview has redundant information about level on it because the D3_Skills template lacks a level parameter. That's an easy fix that I'll implement if I move this to live.
* I'm not sure how the skills pages are being updated. If it's via a script the script will probably need to be modified but the changes are trivial (see Data:Spells/Impale_Test).
If anyone sees any other issue let me know and I'll address them.
Currently all DII skill descriptions have the {Script Formula X} references in them. This came from the way the data was collected. It's not very useful.
Blizzard has released the level 60 skill information. Based on that I tried to decipher what some of the Script Formula's might be but came up with nothing. For instance the {Script Formula 1} shows up in several of the Demon Hunter's skills but each time it evaluates to a different number even though all the stats are for a level 60 character.
Given the uselessness of the current {Script Formula X} information I was planning on switching the descriptions over to the level 60 information. I started with the Demon Hunter passives but someone mentioned displaying only the level 60 stats was kind of a cop-out (my words, not theirs). I agree but don't see much of an option at the moment. Personally I'd much rather know a skill does x-y damage at 60 than nothing at all.
Is there some way to gleam the actual skill progression from the beta or will it have to be determined manually upon full release?
I'd also like to hear anyone's opinion on updating the pages with the level 60 stats in the short term while we wait for the complete progression to be discovered/extrapolated.
Okay, I'll let you know if anything changes tomorrow.
Be sure to reply back. If it doesn't work tomorrow (after 96 hours have passed mind you, not just the data switched). I hope it does work though.
Checked in today and I am now in the Autoconfirmed users group and can create pages. Haven't tried uploading anything yet but doubt that will be a problem.
Thanks for all the help and hope I can contribute more going forward.

As for the image names I thought that was maybe the case and was going to change the template but then I checked the other classes. Both Barbarian and Wizard don't use the Icon addition. So if you change the template they will need to be updated.
Up to 12 edits, mostly all minor ones, and still cannot create content. I'm providing this mostly as feedback as it looks like someone is rapidly taking care of the things I originally wanted to add.
I'm assuming it would be at the bottom of the page and look similar to the edit box I've been using to edit pages? I don't see anything similar to that. It looks just like the screen shot I posted for Diablo 8 except it says Tyrannosaurus.
Also, not to derail this thread but can you change the name of a file without having to delete and re-upload it? The necromancer skill image files all have Icon attached to the end of them and this doesn't jive with what the D3 Skills template is expecting.
Yes, but in this case that seems rather redundant since the necromancer is a character from D2 and doesn't use the same skill template
Oops, I meant Witch Doctor, not Necromancer. There is an extra Icon at the end of the Witch Doctor's skill images that the D3 Template doesn't like. I couldn't figure how to edit the file name.
Edit: Also, in case it makes any difference I am in group Users. I mention this in case the groups have changed but not the script that assigns new wiki members into a group.

Wait a second, that article already existed by the time you edited it. Try searching for some word you know won't be in the wiki and see if you are prompted to create it, like Tyrannosaurus.
I see in the history that is was there but when I went to the page it gave me the exact same text as a garbage page would. Such as if I went to www.diablowiki.com/Diablo_8. It did not have the read, edit or history tabs. Not sure why it says it was there but I couldn't see it. I have more info below but wanted to address what I was seeing with the Evasive Fire Skill.
Click on the link on Create the page "Diablo 4" on this wiki!
Pust stuff there
So I tried searching for Diablo 8 following your example. It pulled up about 15 results to various pages with Diablo and 8 in them but didn't give me an option to create a page. I also navigated directly to Diablo 8 and it gave me the same text as I mentioned before. Also, if I try and upload a file I receive the following text on a Special page:
Special:Upload
You do not have permission to do that, for the following reason:
You do not have permission to create new pages.
So I'm pretty new to the whole wiki thing but I wanted to contribute by filling in some of the missing skill pages. I picked Evasive Fire to start and cannot figure out how to actually create the page. The wiki help says when I navigate to is there should be a "create page" option but I don't see that. All I get is, "There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title in other pages, or search the related logs."
I thought somewhere it said use the discussion tab to start a new page, so I did, but now I can't find where I saw that. Anyway, that's why all the info is on the discussion tab for now.
Are new members not allowed to create pages or am I just missing something basic?

Edit: In case it helps here is a snapshot of what the screen looks like when I go to a page that does not exist.
