So what have they been doing for ten years ?? I think someone had it correct about engineers. They never are finish on anything. When its dones its not really done. Nothing is ever done for their way of thinking. We the Diablo community have been left out in the cold more than any of their other franchises. We are their red headed step child. We were not Blizzards orginal development. They bought them kick them to the curb and were stuck with this crap now.
It sucks, I admit that but you should just be happy they're making the game. We're not really entitled to anything, no matter how long we've waited.
For informations I can run Diablo 3 beta on Highest settings with this system specs :
Graphic Card : ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB DDR5
Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E7600 @3.06Ghz
Motherboard : ASUS P5B-Plus Edition
Memory : 2 x 2Go RAM DDR2
OS : Windows XP SP 3
More informations :
I received the beta at 7:00 PM ~ (Country local time) I live in Belgium
Voila !
Thanks for the information. So were you just a simple opt-in participant or F&F/Media?
Could be, but it seems kind of ironic to use the word Abound when there is only 100 or so people in beta.
I don't get where people get this information. If you refer to screenshots taken of how many are in Public Games those are obviously wrong seeing how you don't need to play Public Games to play the Beta.
Being mainly a multiplayer game, you really think there's that many people doing single player and private games? I'd be willing to admit it might be evenly balanced but not any more then the public. So then we're talking 200 people?
While I'm just as frustrated as anyone else (both because I'm a bit spoiled, AND because Blizz PR is being annoyingly obtuse), I'm surprised no one is considering probably the biggest gating element to large scale, opt-in beta distribution: bugs.
It's extremely likely that Blizzard is finding and fixing system/scale level bugs found INTERNALLY at an amazingly rapid and panicked rate.. They may have found some pretty big issues with FnF, and in committing fixes, have introduced more issues. It could be that a netcode uplift/re-write was found to be necessary once the servers started to get loaded with real users...
I'm sure they want to turn this thing loose on the masses. To me, as a software engineer of 8 years, who's been through the panic of many "t-minus-to-beta" development stages, the most likely explanation for the delay is bugs.
I agree. I read a blue response to public games not functioning properly and I bet that is a huge culprit of them not pushing it out to us yet.
As I said on the official forums when this same site was posted there: the only reason one would want to track beta population numbers is so that you can whine at Blizzard about how few people they have let in. It's pointless. Blizzard will issue more beta keys when they are ready for more people on the servers, and not before.
Yes the only reason to have this site is for everyone to whine about the status. Surely no one would like to simply see how many people are playing and how it increases? I'm not going to look and bitch. I want in just as much as the next guy but I've got better things to do with my time then cry about Blizzard's lack of invites to a beta I'm not guaranteed to get into anyways.
This was posted on Blizzard's forums and then deleted. Not sure if the mods here will care but it is a site that is being manually updated by beta players to keep a semi-accurate count. Interesting idea I thought.
Btw just to be sure,yo apply for d3 beta, you only need to go on ur beta profile and check the diablo 3 universe box right?
You also have to run the system check App
Thanks mate ,did all that.Btw does it matter how many Blizzard games you have purchased?
As far as i know that makes no difference. They are looking more at compatibility so your system spec is what counts. Good luck with getting the key BTW

I'm wondering myself if there are better chances if you're using an older PC. My PC is overkill too. I might opt with my wife's account / pc. It's a bit older.
Working... Madden 12... TF2... Refreshing B.NET... Visiting this site... Fantasy football... and it's still not enough to get the damn game off my mind for even an hour...
Might take you up on this, i considered the calling, but the touch on my phone is screwed up, SPEAKING a phone number to call is easy, but not all machines give you the ability to speak what you need instead of "for xxxx press x" so idk what its like. Touch anywhere on my screen and it auto touches the bottom, so I touch anything, it hangs up my call
LOL borrow a phone man. You have at least one friend I hope
1. Monsters and destroyable scenery fly like pinballs when struck. Looks very unrealistic and silly! Blizz, can you please tone down the physics a bit? It feels like Titan Quest!
I believe a solid point of playing any diablo game is about being a bad ass. Nothing to me about this seems silly. I actually enjoy it. Since when was Diablo supposed to be realistic?
2. Fonts are ugly and unfinished, but I believe this will be fixed
I personally haven't payed much attention to this so I can't comment.
3. Level up and new skill announcements pop up right in the middle of the screen and obscure the action. I hope these can be turned off, just like any type of battle feedback, like damage, crits, gold picked, etc. Completely unnecessary and distracting!
A prompt in the middle of the screen is distracting when you're killing waves of monsters? There's enough going on that I doubt that little prompt will be that distracting. I think it's great since I remember playing D1 and D2 plenty of times late at night with the sound almost off and not noticing I leveled right away.
4. Players not taking damage from activated traps (falling walls, etc.) is unrealistic
Honestly in the past games, these seemed like a joke. I don't think I ever died to a trap in D1 or D2. They were more annoying then anything.
5. Mouse cursor is ugly and organic. What happened to the gauntlet?
People have stated the animation changes depending on what you're mousing over. I personally could care less what the pointer looks like. It could be Wirt's leg and I wouldn't complain.
6. Comic-style balloon boxes popping up when characters speak are annoying
You'd rather have the scrolling, slow textboxes that took over your whole screen again?
7. The aura effect around dropped gold coins is annoying. Dropped gold looks like flying sparkles
Gold is important now, they want people to pick it up.
8. Characters and NPCs never shut up, I hope there is a way to turn off those prompts (like "not enough mana", the templar exclamations and etc.)
Haven't noticed this in any video so can't comment.
9. Quest exclamation marks above NPCs' heads are a bit annoying and too WoW-like
I guess an exclamation mark can't just be an exclamation mark anymore. It has to always be WoW-like... Seriously, who cares? The exclamation mark is a staple of questing in gaming now, regardless of WoW doing it.
Overall I disagree with you. I feel like so many people are nitpicking. The game looks like it adapting to the times. If I wanted Diablo 1 or 2, I'd just be playing those again right now. I'm a vet who's been playing since the D1 demo was released. I'm excited for this version and I am welcoming the changes with open arms.
I imagine once they fix the Public games and the Auction House they will send a lot more invites out; Keep in mind they haven't patched the client for nearly a week.
edit: It has been exactly one week since the past patch actually.
This.
I was reading a blue post in regards to complaints about public games not working properly. I doubt they want to invite a bunch of people that are just going to bitch and moan (even though it's beta) and generate bad press over it. Not to say everyone will, but you know there's a ton of kids that will get in and do just that.

I heard from a guy that heard from another guy that heard from another guy that they're launching next month.

Looks like the kids are trolling the site now. I can't wait to play with those guys... /end sarcasm.
They should really not let people post directly on the site. Should make the post wait until it's confirmed.

That's why I said semi-accurate. Maybe I should've said loosely accurate.
