Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from okrane2) I havent spoken about character customization I my post, neither have I mentioned skill points. I have mentioned character planning, which is a higher arching concept. You are just repeating what blizzard told you to repeat. Character planning is that wonderful thing, where before you start the game, you imagine your playthrough, and then you procede to implement it inside the game, enjoying seeing your character get stronger and stronger, not because the game automatically makes you stronger, but because you planned it that way. It is your baby and you are growing it. Inside D3 this is impossible. It is streamlined, you get to pick all the skills and use the strongest at each level, and the item drops are random, except when you decide to use AH ( see what I mean).
And you delete (kill your baby), when you find out your planning wasn't that good, because you didn't know what it is like in hell or inferno. And then start over.
No thanks I prefer freedom and a situation oriented planning.
PlugY was the most popular mod, for Diablo 2, for one simple reason. You could reset your skills.
Almost everyone wanted that, and now that is Blizzard who is giving you that option, everyone start complaining.
And what's the problem with the AH? Diablo is mostly a single and co-op game why does it bother you if someone spends thousands of dollars for gearing up?
For both skill reset and AH, if you don't like it don't use it. It’s as simple as that.

Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from LordRaykenQuote from AlcovitchQuote from LordRaykenAnybody else think it's about time for a release date? Like, seriously. No more like "Well, I guess I can wait..." ... I'm at that, "It's time" point.
Runes just implemented, it's February 20th, a Monday, and almost March. If this game is coming in the next two months, it's time.
You mean Runes were just removed from the game.
What were runes to begin with, I'm a little unclear?
If I read correctly there were over 3,000 runes in the game, ranks 1-5 or something, and each level did the same thing visually to the ability but made it a little more powerful, and those visual effects were like, maybe spark out differently, or turn red, or look like a glowing crystal instead of a circle, or make a fireball skip a little longer below blowing up. Which is what they do now, you just don't have to watch for them to drop off bosses, you instead have to actually play and level your character.
In Diablo 2, Runes were limited items used to modify existing gear or to make runewords, the runes in Diablo 3 were never remotely close to that concept. Whoever thought up the idea of the original idea for runes in Diablo 3 (just like those 9,000,000 varities of gems) should have been fired.
No mass collection in a Hack n Slash, kthx. I'm not catching all the Unowns and putting them in my PokeBox.
In Diablo 2, Runes were limited items used to modify existing gear.
In Diablo 3, Runes were limited items used to modify existing skills.
I see a big similarity there.
The new system only solves some storage problem and drop table balancing.
And have the following problem.
- Runes are no longer items used to customize your character.
- If you want a specific rune on a skill you may be lucky and get it at level 10 or you may be doomed to wait until you reach level 50+.
- There are no more rune levels, once you get a skill and a rune effect one it there is no way to improve it other than getting new weapon. So there are less alternative to improving your character.
- The new system is more linear and gives you less customization.
Possible solution, mix the 2 system together.
We get the items from the old system back but as consumable item. Once you use a rune on a skill you unlock that rune for that skill.
Lvl 10 character find lvl 1 indigo rune: Wow cool I found a rune :), but wait where do I put it, which skill do I unlock first? (Eventually this player will find/buy all low lvl rune and unlock them for all his skills)
Later at lvl 60 the above player find lvl 7 indigo rune now he have to decide again which skill he want to improve.
In short with this system players have to make important choices all the way from lvl 1 to 60 and behind. Of course eventually there will come a moment where we will unlock max lvl rune for all skills but that will take some time and they can always add new rune lvls with expansions.

Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from WAXXOQuote from AFd3I will play the jewel with a lot of patience. I will probably worry about leveling my blacksmith throughout the game (while not spending too much recources on items until later in the game) and wait for the later game to level the jeweller. I will probably horde/collect gems until until I have a lot of them and then worry about getting the jeweler up to speed. I don't want to waste even low level gems on items I know I will replace in a few days.
You mean level up your blacksmith, then, at a later game, dismiss your leveled blacksmith to get jewler??? That will be a lot of resources spent to change your artisan (and was not even said how it will work to switch artisans) as you can have only one artisan per account.
And anyways, you will not waste low level gems on low level items as you will be able to remove the gems from items with the jewler, saving both the gems and the item for further use.
What’s the point of the caravan when you have only one artisan following you?
No you can level all available artisans (right now there are 2 of them, blacksmith and jeweler).
The idea is that your caravan is composed of your 10 heroes, 3 followers that help you in your fight, blacksmith and jeweler that provide service to you, Leah and maybe some other character that help you with your quest.

Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from WAXXOWith the salvage option going to the blacksmith, what's your thoughts about the jewelcrafter artisan? It looks like it became less interesting as he looses usability in so many ways to the blacksmith. Upgrading gems/runes, crafting sockets and removing gems from them don't seems equally usefull in comparisson to the blacksmith's salvage, immense recipe list, "gambling" (with the crafted item randomization) and the help that the blacksmith can provide with more interesting items for new alts and even your main as he levels up to 60.
Since he is “less” useful than the blacksmith, let trash hem, we can do without hem right.
Seriously what’s your problem? How can he lose usability when there are no changes to hem?
Probably he is getting more use because weapon enchant are gone and they will probably allow gem socket in weapon now.
EDIT - After reading more posts, now I understand your problem (1 artisan / account) but that’s just not true.

Hold down "shift" while shooting?Quote from DarvilActualy I like it and I hate when you have to put your mouse exactly over some tiny moving monster especialy when you are a caster. Often you end up not clicking on the monster and moving close to it insted of shooting it. But the mesh can be a litle smaller it look to big in the video.
I know the existence of the shift key but I rather not use it and have my left hand free.
Also if you account the shift key you can easily solve the problem of the OP by pressing the shift key and choosing a direction without clicking on the monster.

The prime evils can’t really be killed they can only be banished from Sanctuary.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Now following the logic of this thread
SPOILER ALERT: what follow is just my guess but I don’t want anyone to tell me, you spoiled it, if it end up been true.
"After corrupting the hero from Diablo 1, Diablo progenitors Leah. In so doing he left a link open to Sanctuary so in the feature he can re enter the world of man.
Then in Diablo 2 he set not to free his brothers but rather to indirectly (with the help of the heroes from Diablo 2) banish them for good because they were just imprisoned in prisons that ware failing.
And at the end he could use the link he left in Leah to have Sanctuary all for himself."
This is what Azmodan think and hi is trying to outsmart Diablo, but probably Diablo plane is in a much bigger scale a plane that probably involve the High Heaven too, and Azmodan is just a tool for Diablo the same way Mephisto and Baal ware his tools in Diablo 2.
I’m pretty sure Diablo doesn’t need the link he left in Leah at all because in Diablo 2 he lured the heroes in his own realm and it’s quite improbable to defeat hem there. He had probably faked his defeat in Diablo 2. He was in his home why would he need the soul stone !???
The soul stone ware created to imprison the prime evils and the destruction of the stone doesn’t mean anything.
Tyrael saw that humans could not control the prime evil with the stones so he decided to destroy them as they were creating more problems than solving them.

I think Blizzard was trying hard to have the game ready for the Diablo 15 anniversary and the Korea situation may have been the prime reason preventing the release in 2011.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
But now that the release have been delayed past this date, there is no longer an important date that would make any difference, it doesn’t really matter if it is released in January or March, so they are taking their time to polish the game as much as possible. The Korea situation is no longer a factor that prevents the game release.
Cross finger and hope we will get a beta invite so we have something to do while waiting for the game release.
