When can we start beta testing?
In a couple of days! I just started school so it'll take a few days to add all of the sound and make sure the glitches are fixed.

Sorry I wasn't exactly sure where to put this, but also feared not getting noticed if I didn't put it in General Discussion. I know this sounds cheap and almost like I lied, but I've already posted about my game in this Forum before and never gotten anything for it. Don't forget to comment about the game!

Say what you like, don't like about the arpg genre, or what can be improved upon or even removed!

    Lucid

Lucid is the name of a game I've worked on for a while. It's an action rpg as is Diablo, and it's my version of the genre, the way I wanted to see it done. Obviously, I am limited by a budget of zero and time, but this is a product I am proud of, and am still not yet done with.

A dark mentalist has captured you in your own mind! This dark trans takes you on journey through your imagination, including many abstract areas and monsters. You slay one after the other in this dungeon that is constantly changing. The power you hold grows as you collect items and skills. Unlock passive abilities and unlock your true potential.

    Download Link: http://gamejolt.com/games/rpg/lucid-beta/16686/
    • There are over 20 skills, each with 3 tiers of power as they level up.
    • There are unlimited random items, as well as epic (unique) items.
    • The random dungeon generator provides endless exploration.
    • A large amount of monsters and areas are present for you to discover.
    • Achievements help you gain more loot.
    • A passive skill tree adds character customization.
    • There are three different character classes (each with separate skill trees).

    Fight a variety of monsters!

    Find unlimited items!

    Unlock passive abilities!

P.S. I will post a link in an edit once I upload next patch this week!

P.S.: If you're looking for beta testers... I like indie games :P There are also indie game design challenges, you should consider them as well - some great communities out there.

I'm actually looking for beta testers! There's a version available for download, but just note that it is missing many game features, sound, and also has some bugs. I'm working on a patch for sound mostly right now. Here's a link:

P.S. Thanks for the awesome feedback! The responsiveness of skills is one of my main focuses when I create them, but never tried to make a chart or whatever to see where the "gaps" are.

Thanks for the ideas! I kind of made the game and then came up with the idea that it's all in your head after, so not everything relates to it. However, I am planning on going back in and redoing a lot of the things to give them more situational/physcic sense.

I really like the idea of changes monsters to your will, and the ability to create illusions, or morph time, etc.

The whole "Fireball that does x and y" is also fun to iterate on, so I'll take anything you've got ;)

    Thanks for the feedback,
Sorry for the rough start, I'm kind of new to forum posting

Jeez thanks for the help. I don't really get why you feel the need to be such an asshole. I've already designed a ton of skills myself and thought that maybe some people would have fun pitching their ideas in. Isn't that what a forum is for? Sharing ideas...

If you could create any skill or skill rune in Diablo 3, what would it be? Post your ideas! I'm making a diablo type dungeon game with a few of my own ideas and improvements to the genre. I was wondering if anyone had any cool ideas they could give for the game in terms of skills :)

The game is called Lucid. You start off in a dungeon and never leave it. There is no town, there is no going back. The dungeon is your mind. A dark mentalist has caused you to enter an unwanted trans and your imagination takes you to a labyrinth like dungeon where you fight off monsters. Of course, your killing spree does not go unrewarded. Many items of varying rarity and power remain undiscovered by your mind, and you must use their potential to defeat the mentalist once and for all. A variety of skills can be found by any of the three character classes, but each of their passive skill tree differs a lot. Every time you play, a new dungeon layout is created, as you venture through six different zones...

You mind is a prison, and they only exist because you let them...

Revelations will occur to you and help you fight against these monstrosities...

    You choose who you are...

Is there a particular reason there are not more than 4 types of gem in the game, as a plethora of gems could seriously improve customization with things like legendary gems that give specific properties that are unique and mostly non-numerical? For example, a gem that takes up two gem slots that gives 50% Magic Find would be awesome and maybe cause the player to reconsider just slotting in a +40 intelligence gem.

Rapid fire and Distintegrate are compared because rapid fire hits a ton of times and enemies die so fast anyway that its almost as if it were a pierce, it also does double the damage disintegrate does.

I realize that the skills have different mechanics, but tried to group the similar ones together. For example, shock pulse, plague of toads and grenades are all a cast of 3 randomly moving projectiles. Moreover, Sleet Storm and Cloud of Bats are pretty much identical in mechanics, but for some reason the WD version has almost double the damage. I just wanted to highlight the differences.

posted a message on Skill Imbalance Chart
I made a spreadsheet comparing similar if not equal skills in between classes to highlight the differences and imbalance. I would just like to ask Blizzard if they could just balance the skills, change the numbers in the code so things like Cloud of Bats and Sleet Storm aren't so different in damage.
