posted a message on Length concern (semi-spoiler)
Took me over 4 hours to carefully play through, exploring everything (well 5 hours but I took about an hour to tab out and log several bug reports) ;)
    I wasn't in a rush but I wasn't standing still either.

Beta is not yet on the 'real' battle.net .. so it's unauthenticated, also no integrated friends lists, etc.

Based on the fact none of us have played with it .. cannot comment on the balance .. but I like the effect and nature of the spell ;)

In Beta I will be running the Wizard first. Then all of the others .. Witchdoctor last.
At release, depends on the feel in the Beta, but most likely the Wizard ;)

posted a message on 'Jailbreaking' D3
'Jailbroken' .. never .. jailbreak is when you replace the kernel or low level operating system on a device to remove restrictions .. terminology is incorrect

When will they crack the client security and emulate an offline server?
As others have stated .. probably only months for something you can log in, move around and do some sort of a quest or attack something., but it will be buggy, broken and even after year it will still be a shadow of the game ..

I had hoped that Blizzard would want to take advantage of the PC platform and allow offline single or network play or even a mod toolkit so that fans can use the engine to build their own senarios/mods as people have done in the past .. but their focus/DRM is all about security and integrity of the game.

posted a message on Buying and selling characters confirmed
Strange.. I don't have a reasonable answer to this .. I guess I am objecting to it on moral grounds.

I don't mind the AH or RMAH for items .. but the trading or selling of characters .. while it will not personally effect me .. just seems .. wrong.
I guess I cannot imagine the senario where I would buy a character (or want to sell one of my characters).
It's not that I object to other people selling characters to make money or when they are walking away from the game forever .. it's that I think people buying other people's characters are missing out and making the experience less by skipping the core gameplay.

I feel very old saying this .. but everyone seems to want to get to the end of everything as quickly as possible these days .. so many seem to have forgotten that it's the journey that matters.

posted a message on An Option to Hide Other Players' Skill Effects
Interesting topic. I was wondering the other day when watching those leaked character selection screen videos if some of the effects could get a bit annoying. I think it is more likely that the sound of an ability that someone else casts, over and over, gets to me first and I end up turning down the game sounds and turning on my own music.

An option to lower the game sounds of other players would be nice .. even the ability to select a specific player and lower their game sounds.
The graphical effects would be harder .. while you could tone down the brightness of some abilities ... towering walls of zombies .. shrugs

I guess overall my opinion is .. lower sounds for a specific character (say to half volume) .. but don't change effects. If the effects drive you crazy, don't play with them.

"Tyrael was a fool to have trusted me! You see, it was I who told Diablo and his brothers about the Soulstones and how to corrupt them. It was I who helped the Prime Evils mastermind their exile to your world. The plan we set in motion so long ago cannot be stopped by any mortal agency. Hell itself is poised to spill forth into your world like a tidal wave of blood and nightmares. You and all your kind...are doomed" ..Izual

posted a message on How about a discount for purchasing access to additional regions?
For SC2, all copies sold in Australia (SEA region) also gain access to North America. I assume (hope) the same will occur with Diablo 3 :) .. too many friends over the years on US West and various WoW servers.

posted a message on + Official PC Builds Discussion Thread + (Reroute all "will my computer run this?" questions HERE)
Monitor Unless your PC is a beast and you are running the latest graphic cards (multiple cards) aim for a 24" monitor so that you can run at it's optimal resolution down while still giving you a nice big screen. Also not all monitors are created equal, since I started using an IPS monitor I haven't looked back .. it's like looking at a sunset while at the beach vs an old photo, refresh rate is not everything ;)

earMuffs Unless you have a Logitech Z5500 or a half decent amp. setup properly with a reasonable sound card and can crank the volume all night, get a nice pair of earmuffs, something comfortable to wear for hours (or on a hot day) that work well with game surround sound.

Mouse Lash out on a quality mouse and consider if you will be using extra buttons available on some mice .. logitech gaming mice or razor mice are my favourite's. Don't buy a cheap mouse. Keyboards seem less important as most modern games are focused on the mouse, esp. if you pickup one with extra buttons you can script.

When thinking about upgrading or building a PC, people often skimp on the three M's above to get a slightly faster PC.

Strangely .. if you invest in quality M's they tend to last you several years and to be honest, the way you interact with your pc (vision, touch and sound) is primarily through these devices. Placing two computers side by side, if one has invested more into the M's it is quite clear that it will be more immerse and comfortable for long gaming sessions, perfect for Diablo!

Once you reach a certain point a PC is only slightly faster for a dramatically larger cost. Also understand the game you are targeting, a fast dual core or mid range mulit-core processor is typically the same as the top end processors for all but the most demanding games .. the graphics card and power supply combination is where the real choice needs to be made in terms of power. If you ever want to upgrade buy a quality power supply and get a larger capacity than you require as each generation of technology tends to require more power. If you have cash to splash by all means grab an SSD (I have one and love it) .. but also consider getting the 2nd generation technology, leaving room for upgrades .. and invest in the M's
