posted a message on Blizzard, here is how Hardcore arena should work
However hardcore arena works, it should definitely offer a chance for spectators to watch others battle. Knowing how much blood sweat and tears go into each hardcore char, and knowing that only one will leave the arena would make for great viewing.
Real world sponsorship of the hardcore arena would mean guys with madskills could take home a percentage.
I'd also like to see the option for the real nerds to code their own victory dance.
    Am I just dreaming?

    Ok ill make it short:

    HardCore arena:

    Permanent Death.

Winner gets all loot of loser.

Winner gets a profound amount of xp (equivalent to alot of game time. of course low levels are not significant to prevent speed lvling )

the xp is important. people who risks their lives in combat to the death should get an equivalent compensation!
the xp should be a huge amount (with adjustments to low lvl killings. more over an hc character with lvl 20 shouldn't get xp from killing a lvl 10.)

This concept will create a new gender of players that quickly lvl via arena's.
it will be quicker than regular lvling but much more dangerous.

now some of you might say:
"personally i dont like the idea im spending much time lvling regulary and someone is lvling in super high speed via arena"

well , there is actually no real problem here: the higher the lvl you are-> the more xp you need to gain in order to lvl up -> the more battles you need to win in the arena -> higher risk. in other words - speed lvling via arena is not a new way to lvl! its too risky. this is not more than a compensation for those who truly are great in this game (arena wise ofcourse).

I don't see the point of having "hours". You never, never played more than your hours.

Probably because there is no point to that and yes indeed they never have played that. I think they're talking about a point system based on hours like a survival mode timer since thats essentially what hardcore IS. 1 massive flaw with the initial idea of that is you can kill an area of mobs off and then sit there and go AFK in that nice little safe spot AND just do it on normal so you have no chance of dying. Not a good system whatsoever, sorry. I think killing a HC player you should be able to loot them and it should record the kill. That should be enough rep for anybody.

Surely if you sit on your arse for 100 hrs and go into an arena match against a guy with 100 hrs of active gameplay, he's gonna pwn you. If it's just a kill tally, two friends can spawn unarmed characters at each other and bump their kills up really easy.

I'm not looking to modify gameplay, just display stats for bragging purposes.

Any word on a spectator mode? I'd love to sit back and watch a couple of hardcore characters go toe to toe.

Hardcore Characters A, B and C have each played for 100 hrs. A kills B, now has 200 hrs, C kills A and now has 300 hrs.
T and Z each have 100,000 hrs, and schedule a fight in Motorola arena. Two million e-spectators watch the match; Motorola pays Blizzard per viewer, Blizzard kicks back a percentage to T and Z, or just the winner, or just the loser.

If you're good, you can get your hrs up quickly by picking more ambitious fights.
Spectators are giddy with excitement because they know how much nervous energy and tension they expend accumulating just 10 hrs in single player with a hardcore character.
They can watch a fairly low level match, get attached to a favourite, then follow their (possibly very short) career.

I dont know man.. Having 2000+ hours of playtime isn't exactly what i would like to advertitize

I'd love to advertise having ended lives totalling 2000+ hrs, particularly if my char's been playing for substantially less than that. It could be expressed as a percentage. My Char has 200 hrs and has ended lives totalling 300 hrs, then I'm running at 150%.

I played a lot of Diablo2, but never PvP. I assumed that characters were created and used in the normal single player game, leveling up and getting gear, and occasionally playing in the arena for extra xp, gear and glory. If that's the case, it would be great to have a set of stats for the player; 5 HC characters killed, totalling 340 hrs of gameplay etc. Obviously if arena mode means a character is born and dies solely within the arena, then total xp would be a fairly good indicator of success against others, and I'm a total noob....

Hardcore characters should track/display the total minutes of gameplay spent building the characters they've killed. So, everytime my character kills a fellow hardcore character, my character's counter goes up by my victim's total lifespan, effectively keeping track of the hours my opponent has sunk into developing my victim. This would definitely make hardcore more appealing, at least to sick little puppies like myself :)
