Depending on how much you'd need the extra survivability of Frost Nova you could throw in Storm Armor with Power of the Storm rune for another -3 AP/spell.

I'd have to give up Energy Armor if I went that way. Funny that you mention that skill though because I was debating between it and Energy Armor. I concluded that I'd need the extra armor to survive without many kiting options in this build... the + crit is just gravy (inferno may need + resistances instead tho like sumsarr stated).

bah, Forgot the 'only one armor at a time' thing.

Also since you're crit based, maybe Forked Lightning instead of Chain Lightning?

Much shorter than years as somebody will make it a profitable business or even better, they will go through inferno and then sell their chars to noobs. It will suck but that is business. I think this is one of the reasons why ranks won't exist in D3.
But noobs will always be noobs and you will recognize one just by looking at him playing :)

Well it will cost the price of an account to sell your chars, since they are account-bound. That'll probably cut down on the number of people doing it.

Except after release they're planning on authorizing selling characters on the AHs ;)

I think we're fighting on the same side JCVB. I'm all for the new system because then people who stack it will help the party, and people who don't but stack other things will still fight well and get the MF from their buddy.

I was only fighting the fact that it is possible for two people to kill just as fast with similar gear, with one person having more MF then the other. The one without MF will be more well-rounded then the other, but they have the potential to do similar damage.

I'm not going to give this guy the benefit of quoting his post to allow the screaming to continue. But as to the, "Magic find is not being a free stat." No one has ever said its a free stat. But lets see if you can follow me here.

http://us.battle.net...-sovereign-helm We're both wearing this same helm.

It has 6 stats on it. Lets say that of our 2 items, 5 of the stats are the exactly the same. We're both wizards for simplicity. If you need to see the list of current affixes go for it: http://diablonut.incgamers.com/affixes

Lets say this item has: 5 offensive affixes and +MF on mine, and 6 offensive affixes on yours, but ATM there don't even seem to be 6 offensive affixes, so your 6th is globe radius or even a defensive stat.

Its true that MF is not free, but given the alternatives, you can trade a stat for MF and still have the same killing power.

case in point....hey guys herpty derp, if I outgear people, herp, then I do the same dmg, derp, so I deserve more loots!!

Ohh wait, thats right that didn't always hold true even before things were averaged. Ohh and ya know there is another problem, ya know like how you set the scenario up on a false pretense, you outgear everyone else....

    troll much?

It's quite obvious he's not saying he out gears anyone or anything like that, in fact he's using the same exact item to compare. so if you guys were naked wearing only that helm, he'd have more MF and you'd pick up health globes from further away. You guys kill at the same speed, he has a better chance to get a blue, and you'll steal that health globe from him.

only read the first page and a half, and it's almost glaringly obvious that you're trolling hard. Either that or you're dumb.

Steal the health globe? Currently health globes heal every player and minion of the group no matter who picks it up. Also, letting other people die would be a bad thing to do as it holds up everyone in the party.

haha i forgot it heals everyone. The point still stands though, it's possible to have MF without sacrifice killing power. is someone with 0% MF going to kill faster/live longer? yeah of course. Is it going to be this huge horrendous gap? I very much doubt it with the number of affixes on the high end gear, you can still roll 4 killing stats and a bonus stat and be right up there with your barb who got 4 killing stats and a defensive stat. Just let him take the hits ;)

posted a message on Please Lore me if I'm wrong but...
While i was reading the books, the 3 Prime evils didn't seem like the most threatening. They were definitely dangerous, and I had the feeling that if something wasn't done they could potentially cause great damage. But it never felt like any of them were a pressing danger. Although when Diablo actually stepped in to fight i was like 'awww damn, shit's about to get real now'.

But other then that moment, it always seemed as if the Heavens were the real pressing danger. They were the ones I felt like the real 'bad guys'. They were the one's were i was always like shit, shit, what are they doing to do? kind of feeling, whereas the Prime's were just kind of speed bumps on the way there. I knew they had the potential to fuck shit up, but they weren't ever moving forward fast enough for it to be a true concern.

Granted, this was all part of their scheming plan, and now shit has the potential to hit the fan. I'm hoping that this is where Diablo steps in and goes 'it's my turn, who want's to play a game?'

Hi folks, was looking for a bit of advice. I've run the beta on mooege and it does run, but barely and is pretty laggy/stuttery on 1680x1050 on low settings. SC2 runs smoothly on low settings, but I'd like to bump that up to ultra and I want to play D3 maxed.

    Current rig:
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ (3.21 GHz, dual core)
ASUS M2R32-MVP mobo (says it supports two PCI Express x16 ATI Crossfire gfx cards)
Sapphire ATI HD 2600 XT 512MB ($91 4 years ago... good investment)
    4GB DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) dual channel memory
    Edit: Thermaltake Toughpower 550w

One thing I've always shunned is the "gaming laptop" but since I've gotten married I'm actually tempted to save up and get a really, really nice gaming laptop so I can game in the living room while my wife watches TV or something instead of me always being holed up in the second bedroom. I already stream movies/shows to the xbox360 in the living room using Tversity, but if I get a laptop this PC would exclusively be a media hub.

So my current goal is to spend as little money as possible to temporarily let me play D3 until I end up getting a laptop. I still want to play it on as high of settings as possible. Would a graphics upgrade suffice? No idea if my mobo will even support recent nVidia cards or if I'm forced to get a high end ATI one.

    Further Edit:
Was reading some ASUS boards for this mobo and people talk about running PCI-E 2.1 video cards without issues.

I would look into maybe getting 8 GB memory (2 4gb sticks), but you'd have to make sure the memory you look at fits in your mobo, and upgrading the GPU to something like a 6870 (about $190). your CPU should be ok, if you want to upgrade that i'd look at upgrading the mobo at the same time.

Well, I know that there are processors out with higher ghz then that, but considering it's got eight cores, it should run better, right?

Getting a six core would save like $20 or $30, but I'd have to upgrade eventually.

Looking over reviews of the new Bulldozer chips from AMD, the i7 2600k (4 cores) is better then the AMD chip in most areas. Most games arn't going to take advantage of all the cores anyways. I would stick with an i7 2600k for now as it's a great chip with an amazing price. unless you want to kick up to the new ivy bridge, but like they said it's generally good to wait for the 2nd or 3rd revision.

When I read the blue post, I understood it as it just uses the mainhand for damage calculation, it would still pull the speed and such from the offhand.

That keeps the speed bonus and such from DWing and using a faster offhand, without sacrificing the damage from the mainhand.
