both, they thrive off of each other. granted i'd say overall, a higher crit chance is better to have, but try not to neglect one too much without the other.
The only reason Crit Chance is a little better to have more of is because it procs certain runes/abilities.
I don't think there's a cap to DR, but IIRC it's multiplicative and not additive. Also with the latest change to NT it will only hit each target once, so lets say it does 20k damage, you'll get 600 health back. Not very much when you get hit for ~8-10k from mobs (obv before you factor in the DR from those skills)
Granted, you'll be able to take a lot of punishment before you run out of disc, but unless you have some good life/hit or life/second, you better hope you got some high DPS so you can kill them first kind of thing.
Also, you might want to change out Steady Aim, because if you're planning on being able to take hits, mobs are probablyall over you and so that 20% damage won't help. Something like Perfectionist or Night Stalker would probably help more.
I did a mix of 1 and 3, I beat normal on my wiz, then used the items she got to level a barb, who made it through NM, then i switched to a DH who blew through NM/Hell, leveled a Monk up to hell before I did some Inferno Act 1 runs on my DH.
I ground out hell on my Monk, got my wiz up to inferno and through act 1, and my barb is at the start of Hell. Havn't tried a WD yet.
TBH always having a character leveling ahead of the others is a HUGE help, just like BastionFan said. I normally had a stash page full of upgrades for my other characters before i switched over to them. I Rarely needed the AH before Hell, and even then only a weapon here or there.
it does do much, it still doubles your chances remember, it will also increase your chances for blue/yellow (forgot to add yellow to my chart thing) which will give you $$$ and salvage mats. you get ~75% from NV stacks, personally i'm running GF right now on all my characters so i can build up a nice pool of cash before i start to switch over to MF (or both if i get lucky with drops)
IIRC channeled spells scale off your attack speed, so if you have more then 1 attack/second it'll drain your spirit a little faster, but it'll obviously 'tick' more often.
I just killed diablo in nightmare on my barb, I had some rough patches where i had to switch to defensive for certain mob packs, but other then that it wasn't too bad. Except anything that Knocked Back/ran away made my life general hell.
this makes me afraid to push through hell now, might just farm nightmare for my DH/wiz and use them to push forward. Maybe see-saw gear, get the DH through hell, farm wiz gear, throw her up through inferno act 1, farm gear for everyone else etc.
I have to agree - the last two bosses on normal were a pain.
Couldn't solo the last one at lvl31 no matter what I did - I was geared completely toward dps and barely made a dent, if I'd have geared more towards protection I'd still be running around trying to chip away 1 hp at a time.
A friend of mine joined in with a lvl24 monk and he could tank it without issue.
The best spell to keep me alive I found was mirror image btw
I just killed Diablo on normal last night at level 30. I died and redid my build multiple times, what i found worked out was getting hydra, familiar (+damage% rune), teleport, arcane orb, and Diamond Armor (-AP cost rune). Basically kited around, kept hydra up, and threw orbs as i could, couple close calls but in the end i got him. was a rough fight though.
I told you guys wizard dps would suck. Especially at low levels till you get proper +Crit% and +AP on crit gear.
My wizard's DPS doesn't suck at all imo, Especially with disintegrate it's <3, add anything else on top of that and stuff just falls over (non-bosses obviously). Sometimes survivability gets rough though is all, Diablo was the hardest because i didn't have a follower to take hits here and there for me, didn't realize how much the Templar helped with that.
They don't really keep auto-attack in. but if you use a sword you could use a generator like Grenades, although you don't get that until level 15, and then if you're out of resources trying to use a spender (Impale) it should just auto attack instead.
IIRC most discipline spells won't need ranged weapons. also Impale/Grenades shouldn't. try those. and no, there is no stat points, attributes go up automatically as you level.

Except for the monk. Fuck the monk.

An item, lets say an axe, drops, it has:
60% chance to be White
25% chance to be Blue
14% chance to be Grey
1% chance to be Orange
What magic find does is reduces the chance for it to be white/grey
Edit: percentages are made up

I'm having a hard time manually judging it.

Just threw this together, not a lot of planning but could be fun.
