IMO the wizard has the highest total DPS (largely AoE...) which is ideal for PvE and MFing. This is definitely true in the beta but it's hard to know the strengths and weaknesses for different classes in the end game. Although the WD and maybe DH are contenders as well, I can tell you conclusively that it will definitely NOT be the Monk. :'b Can anyone describe a WD build best suited for this task?
Everyone's enthusiasm for this contest really means a lot to me. I feel bad to disappoint so many but I'm just happy to create hype around this game. Thanks everyone for coming out and building the excitement with me. I'm looking into further ways to share D3 Beta access and I'll be posting them here first.
Thank you everyone so much for sharing the d3 love, I've been enjoying the responses very much. I will be selecting the winner in 30 minutes, this is the final stretch!! =]
My best advice would be a headset with a USB interface as this will give you the best voice quality. Analog headsets CAN be great but only if you have a really good sound card as well. I like Sennheiser personally, REALLY comfortable ear padding and great sound quality. I'm sure Razer and Steelseries products are good too, just see what's the best deal online.
I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I'm giving away one last beta key. It takes 6 seconds to enter and if you include that you're from "DFans" in your response there is a relatively good chance you will be selected. I'm not sure what percentage of posters here actually have access yet and I wanted to share this opportunity (expires tonight).
So, what's the highest AoE DPS build in the game? Or even class for that matter? I will go ahead and say Wizard.
in D3 it wont be as easy as "who has the best AOE dmg and thats who ill be to farm". with inferno being insanely difficult and mobs not going down in a few hits you'll have to have A LOT more strategy then just damage
This will hold true until truly godly characters emerge with sick gear and optimized builds. I'm sure that after a few weeks there will be characters powerful enough to solo inferno, melting mobs with extremely high DPS and a powerful follower.
You make reference to a fountain of blood and the "atmosphere" (dark i'm assuming) that is not present in the beta. This is probably the most violent scene in the beta:
I think the release date will be announced before then. If this is NOT the case, then d3 will be officially delayed once again. I say this because Q1 ends Mar 31 and Blizzard likes to announce launch dates 2 months before.
It's Blizzard, they would never have an open beta for any of their products. They literally add ANY number of beta participants at the click of a button and unlocking it for free download is entirely unnecessary. I feel bad for the true fans who still haven't gotten in but Blizzard's helping with that problem on daily basis now.
@snared04drummer The RMAH is a pretty monstrous implementation, nothing has been more game changing than that august announcement. I was only focused on this scroll because of the timing of its removal. You said durability would become a problem but this isn't really true, especially for casters. 5 rolls brings you to 20-35 durability (or more) and if you stay out of combat that's fine although I don't know the threshold for when items lose functionality due to low dura. 5 rolls is ~guaranteed to improve the item unless you recklessly want to gamble (25% would be a mild improvement). Also, it would eliminate the excitement you get from uniding any item under level 50 and that's a huge deal. Blizzard agrees it is simply underdeveloped, we will probably see it again one day in one form or another.
Late last week, there was a blue post announcing the removal of Scrolls of Reforging and this update got me thinking. It would have been so easy for these scrolls to sneak through a briefer testing period if Blizzard decided to rush the release. The inclusion of reforging in an economy driven game such as D3 would have dire consequences. I wanted to share a brief discussion I recorded on this topic with everyone:

The image is a response to accusations that D3 isn't as dark as the previous games.
