You will sell all the white stuff for tens of gold and salvage it for materials that you probably have thousands of. Trust me, the picking up every single item with a button things will get you bored very fast.

About the splash screen. How does it not add to the feeling? You leap with your barb in the middle of 20+ mobs, shockwave and whirlwind and a massage displays "MASSACRE - you killed 28 enemies, NEW RECORD". When was Diablo not about killing a lot of mobs? You simply could never keep track of just how many it was.

Quest tracking is there because unlike D2 you won't be keeping track of a maximum of 2 quests, which you know you will inevitably come by as you slaughter your way to the next zone.

Yeah, this could be true. I'm not going to be angry if there will never be a auto-pickup button.

It doesn't pop up only when a new record is reached.
So record killings can be okay, I guess, but having pop ups like "Massacre - You killed 10 monsters and get +10 XP".
The killing notification gives it some arcade feeling, in my opinion, like having a hit combo counter.
Well why would I want to know that? Is there going to be a massacre ladder? Is it necessary for my Diablo experience?
The devs tried much in getting a pretty clean Diablo going, thus removing unnecessary parts like stats and skillpoints.

Yeah, I know, I don't mean the written part on the right side. Maybe my wording was kind of misleading.
I mean the arrows that point you to new quest places on the mini map.
For example the sidequest in one of the crypts with the ghost.
There are three urnes the character gotta use to advance in the quest, and they are shown as 3 massive yellow dots on the mini map. Seems to be unecessary for me, but I don't care much, since I saw the option to turn it off already I think.

It was Jay Wilson, yes. He said choosing which items to pick up is part of the feel for Diablo. After all, I play D2 on Players 8 beginning to end and some people have no idea how many white items drop on Nightmare and Hell. It's literally a "nightmare" and a "hell" if I automatically picked up those items. I assume many people would support me on this.

But aren't we going to pick up all the stuff anyway, since we can sell and salvage items straight from the inventory?

Yeah, I understand the reasoning with the higher difficulties, but then just make it a toggle option.

If you wanna pick your items keep it off, if you want to pick up all the stuff and sell / break it down put it on.

And Jay popping up damage numbers, quest tracking and massacre notifications also really don't add to the Diablo feel.
Glad we can disable that stuff, although I'm not sure about the kill messages and the checkpoint thingy.

There can never be enough spoilers. Bring them on imo.

I gotta go with this attitude on all the spoilers.

Better to have at least some info about the game than wandering in darkness.

[And if "some" means "all", then come at me with those delicious info!]

    Congrats!
It really seems like a very nice game.
I've been following PoE around since the beginning of 2011 and now I'm lurking the damn timer in hope of seeing my name up there. O_O

Did I understand correctly that there is a NDA but people may ask for a permission to maybe post a video or stream?
If so, you better ask them! ;)

I think Bash is just too shy to admit that Cain is a nasty old man having sexy time with Adria.

    B. sounds kinda plausibel, since Adria is a wicked witch, and you know witches like to be nasty with demons and stuff. Maybe we get to fight Leah later? :o

Another question would be, why would Cain adopt her in the first place!?

but NO ONE knows how the "respec"/"skillswap" works, it has NOT been said how EASY/HARD it is to swap those skills..

    This a hundred billion times!
Nobody knows how the swapping may end up.

... and ultimately your long-term enjoyment of the game.

    This is the damn point.
When you see it from Blizzards perspective, they want the players to keep playing the game as long as possible to yield those sweet and delicious RMAH fees they are putting on.
If the long-term enjoyment would be that broken through recent changes, they would get less money.
We don't know the big picture yet and but I'm confident that DIII will turn out great.

    CRY SOME MOAR.

The one question that I do not have the answer to is how respecs will work in the new system. I have not found a good answer to that question in the press material.

This is the only thing bothering me right now.
I hope that Blizzard will restrict the skill switching, otherwise people would just change their skills on the go to be more viable against a boss or other enemy encounters.

Wasn't blizzards argument against the old skill system in combination with the respec idea, that people would always respec and pump everything into their newest skill once they level up. So instead of killing monsters they would go back to town, which is something that Blizzard somehow doesn't want to be happening too often, hence the possibility to sell your useless items via the inventory. If they don't want to break the flow, they better give it some restrictions and I believe they gonna do so.

Everytime you level you are making a decision of what skill you want stronger as you continue. Making it so you just get a skill and it gets stronger as you level, just removes a layer of depth from the game that doesnt need to be removed.

I agree that spending skill points was indeed a layer of depth, altough a shallow one, and it's removal isn't necessary.
Still, I question whether those descisions we made in DII were that independent from influence.
Most people would walk down the path of chosing between which of the best builds they would go for and spend their points accordingly.

Now when you put this into diablo where the entire game is leveling, and I will only have the opertunity to change something on my character few times, that wont even continue past lvl 30 is going to be MUCH less enjoyable for me.

I'm pretty curious about the reasoning for this opinion.

In DII you would get a skill point to distribute every level.
I agree that this was something to look forward to, and thus being somehow an incentive to keep on leveling.
But to be honest, after thinking about this old and new system, was it really such a great feeling to press one button in your skill tree raising your main damage dealing skill one level? Were the numbers so intriguing?

In my opinion the items I could find, definied the core "fun" part of the game.
The fact that I could get some nice gear on my pixel warrior made me keep going.
It all boiled down to items.

After I realised that, I really have nothing to bring up as an argument in favor of spending skill points every level.

Customization is still in the game. Look at the runes. Every skill you have can be altered in several ways and don't forget the comparison between a rune on level 1 and a level 7, turning your tiny little meteor into a collapsing sun raining down on your opponents.

The only question that remains on my part is how quickly we will be able to switch out our skills.
