Aug 3, 2011lolx2 posted a message on Skill Points Removal Fuels Game Controversyprobably because we wanted diablo 3 for so many years and it was going so well, we are at the beta!!! yeah! my excitement is at the top.Posted in: News
but at the last minute they change alot of stuff, heavy stuff, not just saying crimson will be called ruby, they removed the points, the traits etc. I think its for a better world and im happy. But alot of people felt like their dream just burned. Now they must raise their voice in hope to avoid a cataclysm (hehe nice double sense no?)because the game is about to be out... at least they are feeling like that. Many people also hear a news from a friends or just read a quick paragraph and jump into the war. When i first read the changeabout the rune system (if it change), i was all against. Why? because i was missing a key element. You were keeping youre old stone and could put it back, i tought it would destroy it and would be stuck with the new, having ton of chances to downgrade myself, i tought it was stupid.
So people miss read, some are fanboy , some are reluctant to change, it is the world but i think its for the better -

I'm slowly getting over the news and accepting the good side of this however I have a hard time overcoming one issue: Levelling up loses its reward. Attribute points allocate automatically, skill points are gone...past normal after all the skill slots are opened levelling up pretty much only increases the power of your character but doesn't offer you any choice, any tangible new reward for your hard earned experience. Yes you can get better gear but that might not prove to be true until something better actually drops for you which might happen like an hour later. The level cap has been decreased to 60 so that levelling up has more impact to it since there were less skill points with more powerful rewards. Now there are no skill points...and no reward for that hard earned level.
there is in fact. Of course not tangible at each level. So gaining a level is like putting +1 in every of youre skills in D2, although you dont do it, it still happen. Gaining some different level, 10 - 20 - 30 and i dont remember the one for the skills, youll have to take a new skill an play with it, youll be so pumped up to receive youre other skills that you will level up quick. Of course around 35+ i can understand that there is no more tangible reward but still, im pretty sure well have some damn fun haha -
Aug 3, 2011lolx2 posted a message on Skill Points Removal Fuels Game Controversy@johny : so they are been pushed by the shareholders now to release it on time, but the have spend a lot of time in other pointless characteristics, so there is not enought time now for balancing the skills and they drop it!?Posted in: News
pointless characteristics? atm all they got out was fabulous and give me so much joy that i will play D3 this year and will be the best action rpg ever. I dont know where you see pointless stuff.
balancing skills, i tought the video would have made it crystal clear, the point system is a fail. You will still be able to do builds, instead of having 2 powerfuls spells that you spam, all of them will be. In D2 when you put a point in a skill, what did it do? 10-20 dmg to 20-30 dmg. Yeah... so you would max that skill so at the end it would be lets say 120-130dmg. Now it will be 120-130 dmg but the first skill you got too.
There will be plenty of build to do with the passive, gearing and rune system -
Aug 3, 2011lolx2 posted a message on Skill Points Removal Fuels Game Controversy@masterficher : why do you keep saying rushing? Rushing came for me after 2 years of diablo 2 and about the same for diablo 1. Rushing is when you took youre time, did all the quests, tested all the classes you wanted to test and is now farming for gear in a hardcore manner. I certainly wont rush in diablo 3 until i have a max witch doctor, wizard, monk at the least. Barbarian i feel its recycled but perhaps i will love it and im not a fan of the bow/crossbow although the demon hunter look really good.Posted in: News
For the skill change though im all for. D2 point system was soooo dumb. Even other Action RPG that copied the formula did it better... well of course they did since diablo 2 was the first to do it, they improved the base idea. So yeah, you go and do lets say a necromancer focused on bonespear. So you take almost all bone talent, each point in a talent give you lets say , bone spear 1 give you (exemple) 10-20 dmg , you level and get a point yay! you dumb it into bonespear again for 20-30dmg yay! so until bonespear is not 20, you wont stop dumping point into it... I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT LEVEL!! IM SO PUMPED UP TO LEVEL!!! (sarcasm) it was cool back in time but now with what it is on the market, it would be pretty weak. Now lets say you play a wizard in D3. You have maxed out Meteor and Arcane Orb. So you go around, droppping a single meteor on someone who move and it miss... now you have to wait on the cooldown to use youre single good attack. You do an arcane orb, wait for the small cooldown, use it again, use it again, oh! meteor is up, you do a meteor, use arcane orb again until meteor is back. That is a 2 skill build. Now instead of having to put point into making 2 attack powerful, all of you attacks will be. So you will drop youre meteor again but now you can teleport in the middle of the pool of monsters and desintegrate them, teleport again, go slash a caster , meteor is up you drop it again. A big boss appear you send youre multi magic missile attack etc. You wont fear using other attack because they will be powerful too, so youll use 4 to 6 skills instead of 1 or 2.
so yeah, im all for it, it will be really nice

so if we have 1/3 of act one and it take a hour, then doing the first act take 3hours. But its fail logic since we dont know what will be in game or how long is the other act. Since im not in a rush when im play diablo, will prolly take me longer since i take the time to enjoy and dont do "GO GO GO!!" like alot of my friends.
So if you take D2, you do all the caves/dungeons you find, do all the quests, get all the way point and explore every room (basically what i do when i dont do boss run) youll probably score higher then someone going straight at the last boss

i really do agree with youre first point here. That make alot of sense. I think the focus of diablo 3 for the first year will really be on pve, around 90 to 95% of the players will pve more then pvp. The more the people will grow weary of the content they done a thousand time , the more they will turn again to pvp, wich will have time to grow too.

So lets say barbarian are overpowered and witch doctor totally suck (its my first char, cant wait) So in the ranking well see ton of barbarian, even 3v3 of barbarians because they will be OP. WHY?! because they dont balance the pvp. Second, if the deathmatch is the only sort of pvp, do we ladder the team or the single individual? by what stat? number of kills? why? a witchdoctor who helped you root the barbarian and feared the sorceress to give more time for you to pewpew wont go up in ranking? So that make a very shitty ladder with only the overpowered class at the top and the shitty one at the bottom, yay!
Diablo is really a bad game for pvp and even worst one for ladder. its not an e-sport, its not build for that, its made to be pve and it is said from the start. Its like youre friend say he will give you a toaster but in youre head you keep wishing for an oven, it wont happen... not right now, not at release.
and the RMT has totally nothing to do with pvp, not even the same team.
edit: im going to be flammed for that but i tought D2 pvp sucked. I did it only because i was tired of doing run and levels to friends. Sometime i got a good fight but mostly it was crybaby using portals and potion, running everywhere on the map playing hide and seek. Lemme remember it right with a sorc... hmm .. bone cage, teleport,bone cage, teleport,bone cage, teleport,bone cage, teleport,bone cage, teleport,bone cage, teleport,bone cage, teleport,bone cage, teleport,bone cage, teleport,bone cage, teleport etc... (an exemple, dont go juge like crazy over a simple exemple) or against a barbarian? bone cage, leap and attack, move,bone cage, leap and attack, move,bone cage, leap and attack, move,bone cage, leap and attack, move,bone cage, leap and attack, move etc. Against a paladin? Bone cage, bone spear , bone spear , paladin pot,Bone cage, bone spear , bone spear , paladin pot,Bone cage, bone spear , bone spear , paladin pot etc.
i gave some exemple, really really basic because of course there is more into it but how much it did happen? After that, people keep telling me! owmegawd! D2 pvp is sooooOOOooo awes0me! I played a ton of games all along the years that pvp was way more interesting seriously

killing floor is a left 4 dead 2 counter strike mix : you play online with people, you kill mobs each round and you earn money to buy moar! I like it but what i HATED is the voice over. OMG OMG i want to strangle someone. I was a dedicated medic BLOODYSHINE!!! AAAAAH I STILL HAVE NIGHTMARES!!!!
edit : well for game like witcher 2 i tried not to propose since he wanted a shooter or rts but its definately a real good one to play.

1-make you try more
2-make you strive for more
because the current system is.. When you drop a crimson rune and you wanted one for youre magic missile, you put it in. The only time you will change it is for another rank. Once you got a rank 7, youre done, no more toying around.
the new system will drop gray random rune. Now youll want to upgrade a spell, youll have to choose because you dont know wich color it will be. So you put it in youre magic missile. You dont receive a crimson but an alabaster but the stats are really great on it. Now youre like .. hmmm... do i try it out. So you kill a couple mosnter with it, making you test that specific rune. If you say "yeah i like it" then you keep it. If you say "ugh it sux" you equip the last one you had. Now at the end game, even if you have crimson rank 7 , you can find another crimson rank 7 but with better stats, making you do more runs to find them

lol yeah, on every pve game where there is pvp , pve is carebear and pvp is badass
i like youre explanation
so if i go like that
pve=preteen
pvp=man
astounding logic
edit : didnt see lafu reply
yes i do agree with you, if they have that team, i really wonder what they do seriously
