posted a message on Do you think Diablo 3 will get another expansion?

I'm voting yes for new expansion, been expecting one since finishing RoS.

    • Pretty sure they've already said no to Diablo 4, and other games in sanctuary, so new xpac for D3 is most likely to keep it going - regardless of historical xpacs in the franchise
    • The necromancer has already appeared in game several times, with links through lore that tie well into the game, especially after RoS. If a new class was to be announced, this has always been top of my expectations. (Druid would be nice, but I so far see no hints toward one - I concede, there wasn't to the Crusader literally, but most expected Pally or variant due to D3v's lack of shield user and a second Str user). Keeping this balance of resource users does point to a two class reveal though.
    • Which makes me think these two new classes would use either a new stat, or even vitality. Threads long gone dusty here suggest warlock style classes that use life as a resource instead. This fits a Necromancer well, and could even be twisted to work for a druid if required.
    • And keeping it going with balance - it's what the Necromancer and Rathma was all about, something that's sadly lacking in Sanctuary of late. The end cutscene of RoS hints at the Nephalem becoming too powerful and who could stand in their way, which to me brings to mind that our next xpac boss could be a Nephalem (with Nephalem minions and apprentices), with the Necromancers reason to return being to restore the balance they're upsetting between the usual eternal conflict.
    • Possible thought if they're going for the fan favourite approach - we're all still expecting Cain to come back, somehow, some way. Even if it's in spirit as one of the Angiris council (who still have a vacancy). Who better to help than a class and order that deal with raising the dead? ;)
    • Anyone else remember the kick ass artwork for Ureh that appeared pre-D3v release? Google it. Then check the old info around what it is and why it never appeared. More than just concept art was done, hinting that it's likely to appear in future. Also, the jungles surrounding it are inhabited by Necromancers. Definite location, if not the main place for Act VI.
    • The evils are all now released from the soulstone again, the Angiris council are still on the mend, and we have a new Horadrim order. That's a lot of story to still deal with to NOT get another xpac, and certainly more than enough that us Nephalem could need to bounce back and forth between heaven and hell via Ureh in the future.

The information for the Necromancer returning has been strong for a while, as has the likelihood of a new xpac to continue story threads (that aren't enough to warrant a new game, and too big for a simple patch update).

I've no idea if I'm even remotely close here, I've not been on this forum for a long while and just logged in to shout my theories quickly after spotting the Necro image on Facebook a few minutes ago. I'll certainly be looking forward to the BlizzCon news soon, and can't wait to geek out about what does get revealed.

posted a message on Anyone else *extremely* starved for mats?
To all those wanting blues, I've found running a lower difficulty setting is best as the lower MF stops more rares and legs from dropping. I find I've been quite balanced with mats still, purely because I'm still trying to gear one of each class for torment (DH left), but I've been eating through the mats pretty fast lately to just craft/enchant better gear to be Torment viable. Collecting mats doesn't bother me though as it means I don't care what I find over an hour playing, as long as the mats stock and the gold goes up, I'm happy and doing good.

posted a message on Do you mostly play solo or in a group?
I don't like feeling pressured to run continuously in groups, and often prefer to be left alone to relax and play. Don't like public games with randoms (last time I tried I kept getting people demanding others to open rifts for them or non-Torment geared with no idea what stats they should use running Torment 1 because "it's the only difficulty worth playing cos of phat lewt". Solo I only depend on myself, can stop when I want without anyone complaining, but it does suck that I take the penalty of running a lower Torment level with less MF&GF /shrug.

posted a message on Arcane Dust Supplies: There isn't enough of them
I've been picking up yellows and blues constantly since release. Most of the time I've got more than enough, then I ignore blues on the ground and sell the yellows. When I got down to 400~ of any crafting mat, I start picking them up again. Haven't ran out since I started enchanting my mains rares pre-Torment farming. Also, the gold I spent enchanting, crafting and transmogging for my main (and a few alts) has already been earned back and I've now got the same gold I started RoS with.

If it makes any difference, I play solo 99% of the time, so nipping back to town isn't an issue. Doing an act of bounties, I generally have to empty bags half way through the last bounty. I'd go as far to say that it's pretty well balanced actually.

    Quote from Laevus

Stash space is the one thing in the game I would seriously be willing to fork out extra money as a micro transaction for (and I barely used the RMAH because I dislike the idea of in game transactions).

All crafting mats, including the legendary ones should go. More tabs is an almost absolute must have though I feel. I knew it would be hard to keep different gear sets for different builds, but as an altoholic, I've now moved any non-Crusader items to those classes so I've got three tabs purely for my Crusader (main) gear!

I'd like to see two bonus tabs for gold (even if 100mill total cost to unlock them). And then another full page of 6 tabs that you buy for a few bucks a piece. Either that or a second stash purely for that character. One account bound, one character bound. That'll do me.
Did you seriously just encourage Blizzard to add micro transactions to D3? Are you high?
No and no. Not high or encouraging it, and even though I dislike the idea of micro transactions, I would use it for stash space because I believe that strongly that the game requires more space. Much more. I hate myself for suggesting it and would need to take a shower every time I made a slot/tab purchase, but I'd do it to improve my quality of game playing (which I still believe should revolve around in game only work, with micro transactions reserved for at most vanity only items - but even those I'd prefer from achievements)

posted a message on People got what they wanted. Anniversary buff will stay!
I completely approve. Now just wish I'd stocked up on easy to grab keystones :(

As a side note, I don't understand why some people are using the term 'casuals' like it's an insult. The only thing that makes me a casual player is the limited time I get to play, and there's no way I'd consider myself a worse player or less enthusiastic and interested in the game because of it.

I don't see the buff as an answer to QQs, moaning casuals or dumbing down the game, I see it as rewarding those that don't get as much opportunity to play. I'd love to see the stats on how many play for a few hours here and there, and those that grind out 8+ a day regularly. I guess the difference is that those with less time to play spend longer in game than on the forums ;)

posted a message on Anniversary Buff Here To Stay?
I'm pleased to see several in this thread with the same opinion as me. I'm also limited in my play time these days and I've been really enjoying this new drop rate.

As others have said, I've not found any serious upgrades since the buff (one Akkhan's set piece on my main, usable stats but far from perfect), but the increased number of items dropping has made it feel much more enjoyable and gives me a better sense of that upgrade being just around the corner. Getting a complete class set is going to take me quite some time, getting it with good rolls is going to be even harder.

I'm really hoping they keep it as it is, or at the very least, don't nerf it right back to how it was before.

Tried the above link, it's the thread alright, but it's reached the post limit. Couldn't see a second one created, but I'd be surprised if Blizz don't respond with at least a "we'll consider it" or a minor buff of at least 25%.

posted a message on I'm concerned about seasons.
I'm waiting for the details on Seasons and season-only legendaries. I'll be happier not playing ladder, but hope that season-only items are rolled into the main pool once that season ends and the bring out the new ones for the new Season. Until there are actual details from Blizzard on what they plan, I just can't bring myself to get all ranty about speculation.

My main concern with the direction so far was touched up slightly in the OP - D3 being multiplayer. I've always been a solo player, but lately I've been feeling pushed more towards co-op purely because I feel I'm falling behind in the gear race. Split bounties for faster bounty legs and more rift opening key things (long day, forgot the name....) then you've also got the co-op buff and efficiency from being in a group that allows for higher Torment clears. There's all the incentive to play co-op, but it more feels like a punishment or restriction for playing solo.

posted a message on Your take on ladder-only items?
I invested a lot of time into D2, as did many here. The majority of that was playing Ladder and it had nothing to do with being competitive, it was because that was where the good loot was. In a game that's loot driven, offering ladder only items is going to push people to that mode of play. Especially if it gets to the level of Diablo 2 where ladder mode had game changing runeword recipes and unique items that were otherwise unavailable (single player I think? But let's go with the flow that Diablo is supposed to be a multiplayer experience).

I've already got plenty of gripes about competitive modes like ladder seasons, but keeping it on topic about the loot, I'd be more than happy if they had Ladder season only items that 'retired' after every season and then entered the standard loot tables.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of new items appearing in the pool over time, and the ladder seasons is a great way to bring them in. Even if it's a class specific legendary of each type, maybe small class sets using them. Either way, I don't want to feel forced to play ladder purely to obtain these items, especially if they get deemed by the community as BiS must have epic uber-legendaries (of doom).

In my opinion, the place of ladder only items needs to be carefully laid out before it starts so that there doesn't grow to be a massive disparity between ladder and non-ladder. Retiring items into the main pool each Season is a great idea and I hope they consider it, or something similar.

(If it matters, I'd only play ladder if the loot was only ever available there and would never be retired - and it would be grudgingly. I don't get many hours to play and I enjoy alts, so there's no way I could be competitive or fix myself grinding on one character alone due to character slot limitations).

posted a message on Set items drop rate To low
I certainly feel something's not right. I'm not one of those that expects everything on a silver platter with minimal effort, but it's sickening to see how much high quality gear people are complaining about and throwing away, let alone using. Players with similar and less play time to me are waving full torment sets when I've only had one torment only item drop at all (poor roll Invoker gloves). Otherwise I've had Blackthorne's neck (2) and belt (both pre-70), traveller's pledge (poor roll) and wailing host + litany that are better off as Souls (but I've kept for no reason whatsoever).

To top it all, my legendary drops seem to be RNG weighted toward 2Hs and rings with very little else, not seen a set item for weeks now.

I'm happy to keep grinding away, it's Diablo so I expect nothing else, but it does get infuriating to read about so many others with such incredible luck in less time. I don't know whether it should be buffed since that will only buff those that are finding shed loads too, but something feels off for those of us getting 3 of the same poor roll legs each night.

posted a message on Crusader Philosophy
As a fellow Crusader, here's my thoughts on those points:

    1. Agreed. It seems strange that there's not at least a rune to offer CC immunity. Even if it was added as a bonus to the Crusader set with Akkarat's on I'd be happy.

    2. Also agreed, been wondering this for a while as well. I'm running Lord Commander passive so my main single target damage comes from physical with bombardment (Mortal Drama flail) and Phalanx. However, the physical skills for primary and secondary are few and aren't all that great. I feel a little stuck running a mix of holy and physical skills at the moment. I could certainly do with a fire version of bombardment and phalanx, I could live with that. (It's why I cheered when I saw about upcoming elemental type skill changes).

    3. Mobility is a choice unfortunately. We're not exactly force to run 2H and have the movement speed penalty, even if it feels like it with the superior damage and stats a 2H offers. There has to be a penalty for using 2H, and I like the trade off, however, I can see the issue is a tough one for co-op play. I guess the question is whether you want to stay with the group or do slightly more damage?

    4. The difference comes from a Crusader being pushed to using a shield all the time. While I've seen it argued that shield block does very little on higher torments due to the low block amount, I've found on T1-2 that Punish with Renewal passive makes you pretty damned unstoppable with balanced toughness. It was doable before the 15% base line, but that's really helped take the edge off the scary moments IMO. I don't feel it needs more, but I've yet to gear up enough to break out of T2 comfortably.

My biggest concern is that Crusaders need more choice in the primary and secondary skills for elemental damage types. a few more physical ones would be nice. Love shield bash but it's hard to use with the high wrath cost (still waiting for the Piro Marella plan). Overall, considering how broken other classes have been in the past, the Crusader has felt pretty damned sweet from launch day and these are only minor concerns.

posted a message on Doesn't it bother you that there will be no OP legendaries?
Back on topic, I'm all for no Best in Slot legendary items. The main reason being diversity and fun. In weeks/months time, everyone would be a copy and paste of the same armoury page, the same BiS items. THe forums would be filled with "Gief <insert item here> I've done three rifts, why no drop Blizz you suck!"

Much better that items are well balanced, encourage varied skill choices and give the option for people to try out whatever builds they like and find fun rather than everyone feeling 'forced'* into a WotB/CM style builds using Crit mempos and Witching Hours.

*I use the term loosely. I understand no one is forced into it. Efficiency, farm speed, play you're own way, etc etc. The original point still stands.

posted a message on Distinct Lack of Set Items
I've been thinking similar. I'm aware it's all RNG, but compared to the drops I've seen other players with, it makes me feel sad :(

I've been farming Torment 1 since a few days after Ros, T2 on farm a few days ago. Only Torment only set I've found so far was a terrible roll on Thorns set gloves. Non-torment sets I've had a few of, but they were before I was 70. Still, I've got a few 70 set plans - Cain's, Born's, Demon's and Sage's.

What's been bugging me is multiple legendary drops. Two skull grasps in one rift, neither of them any good. So far, I've only found maybe 4 legendary items that made me excited since RoS. Considering how many have dropped, that's a poor show.

Yes, yes, RNG, but as I said at the top, it just makes me sad when I see there are people with similar time invested and playstyle to me that have so much better gear already. Not giving up though, as because it's RNG, the next few leg drops could be outstanding - and so the addiction continues....

posted a message on Barbarian or Crusader ? Dmg Output + Mobility + Game Style
Played Barbarian for most of D3V, loved it since it beta. However, got a little bored toward the end with lack of interesting fury spenders.
Tried the Crusader day after launch and loved it straight away, it's got everything I wanted and plenty of versatility and choice with the skills that I've shifted the build I've been using several times and loved them all. I'll agree that the Crusader pre-patch had single target damage problems, but survivability wasn't an issue. Looking forward to trying it after the recent changes, and can't wait to get my HC Crusader paragon farming.
