I cannot believe a topic like this has gone on this long. Isn't this discussion more fitting for a religion based forum? I personally don't have to prove anything to anyone. Simply because I don't really care. However the topic caught my eye and my only insight is neutrality. It's just not worth debating.

Do the yard work
Save the Titanic from certain doom.
Wash the cars
Explode some hamsters
Make dinner
Get into D3 Beta

I like it completely random actually. It forces you to try new things you may not normally try. It will keep you excited every time you find a blank rune, even at end game. If you don't like what you get just break it down for mats or sell it. I'd be happy with either way they do it. But in my opinion the more random the better.
I like the idea of bosses having sweet insti-kills.
It just means no matter how BA your character is there's still that
chance that you could up eating dirt at any second.
