I take it that I am one of your targets for what you stated.Quote from Telsak
The bile and bitterness flowing from you people is absolutely astonishing. You have no business on this forum, go away.
I'm sorry, but if you create an account to come here with the sole purpose of tearing the game apart in such a way to anger fans, and then swear at them, then you deserve as much bitterness and bile as your recipients send your way. And if you condone his actions then you are just as bad as him.
I am an actual fan of the Diablo series, so, no thank you, I will not be going away. I have been here for months now, and I've had a part in many enjoyable and interesting discussions. So, I think I have the right to be here as much as you.

Really? I'm sorry, but you're not very clued up on the lore, are you?
In the Book of Cain it's stated that Mathael's mood became darker since Sanctuary was created. It's also suggested that his infinite wisdom did not reach into the realm of the Nephalem, for which he might be increasingly hateful towards mortals. At the end of D2 he mysteriously disappeared, and no one knows what became of him, though it left a bleak omen.
This was planned all along, as I remember we had discussions on this very forum of how he might become an enemy in D3. And that was months before the game was released. So I struggle to grasp how they pulled this one out of their asses all of a sudden when even the public foresaw it more than a year ago.
That being said, I haven't played D3 in a while, as I haven't fully agreed with the mechanical side of the game. The itemization primarily left me wanting, and the loot 2.0 part of what lies ahead interests me the most. What I saw here didn't help. I want items to be far more interesting, not only legendaries, but rares included.
Firstly, I hope they give elemental damages extra effects.
Secondly, I hope they add more affixes across the board, so items can feel more lively.
Thirdly, since legendaries receive so much of their attention, I'm hoping they'll add a lot more into game of varying powers at higher levels, and some very rare legendaries and sets to collect at endgame.

I just think rares should receive more interesting stats. Items don't feel cool, they feel very bland at the moment. The change to legendaries is the first step towards fixing that problem.

I would much rather enjoy various meals, than eating the same thing day after day.

At present I'm waiting for GW2, and I'm going to play the living hell out of it. Saying 'blah, it's a dumb game', or 'enjoy your fail game' is just ignorant babbling. The BWEs are brilliant, and I plan on playing for a long time to come.
However, there will be a day when I'll want something different, need a break from that game. Then, when D3 1.1.5 (or whatever) is out, I will return. I plan on keeping my D3 version up to date, and I can't wait for the day when I come back and find an improved game. I might even start a new character, just to see how much has changed, and the thought of it really excites me.
If you read this and shake your head, wondering, it's true, a person can enjoy and like two games, even at the same time. I plan on enjoying GW2 and D3 for many years to come, and try some other games in between.
I quit D2 the same way, because I saw the strong game underneath, and just like D3, I know and trust that on that solid foundation a brilliant game will one day attest to this fact.

The PvP patch was supposed to be soon after release. 1.1 is supposed to be some time after 1.0.4, and we don't even have any idea when it's coming. Plus, for all we know there's going to be another 1-2 months wait for a 1.0.5.
I really don't know why Blizzard takes forever with each and everything they do. Games, expansions, patches, even blogs. Sometimes I imagine they're just sitting around, staring at walls. That or they have the largest communication gaps between their employees, which stunts their design process beyond belief.
I realize that I'm coming to this site less and less, waiting for something to actually happen to this game. D3 has so much promise, but Blizzard is so damn lax, it's frustrating. I really can't wait forever for them to right the wrongs riddled throughout this game.
The GW2 BWEs are just so damn impressive, I can't bring myself to come back to this game. Come 25 August, I'm probably not going to look back at all
I really hope Blizzard gets their crap it together and pull D3 through, cause I think I'm going to wait for the expansion (which will probably take more than 2 years, if HotS is anything to measure it by). If it doesn't look amazing, then it'll be a damn sad day, but I'll be done with this game.

The reason is, raids are only ever experienced by a small margin of the community, and have a very strict limitation of attendance. If you don't meet it, then you can't raid, if there are more, then some can't participate. It's a really unfriendly environment.
What they've said about world events is, they happen, you get a group together, trigger it and it all happens. There's no cutting of limit, or limiting a large part of the player base because they're not part of a competitive raiding guild. When a world event starts, as many groups as possible join and take part in it, and everyone benefits.
If you want challenging content, then you need to do the high level explorable dungeons. If you want something for your guild to participate in, then there is WvW where guilds can capture keeps. If you want PvE, then there is Orr, where the very difficult events unfold. What we basically know is, in Orr there are group bosses to battle and there are temples that you need to clear and capture, which you will either need a strong group to accomplish, or need a guild to pull off.
Whoever thought of adding that into the game is pure genius! This game is so player friendly, its astonishing.

Firstly there is the the personal story. I did a thorough run through of the charr and asura starter stories, and wow! There is so much variation and well presented storytelling going on, at times I was so enthralled that I had to remind myself that the game is actually an MMO as well.
Then there are the hearts and events. I'm amazed how well they go hand in hand. Hearts are little things that are happening around the zone, like the charr are building in an area, so you can detonate tree stumps, or grenade wasp nests out of trees, or just drive away the local fire legion trouble makers.
Then there are events that happen all around, for instance, while I was cleaning up around the charr camp, a large group of flame legion attacked the encampment. We drove them off, but the structures suffered a bit of damage. So, the lead engineer at the camp went off looking for scrap metal to fix the damage. You can pickup pieces lying around to give him a hand, after which he will repair the camp. taking part in this event actually fills your renown heart as well.
Then there are mini games. I joined in the keg brawl and it was so much fun. There are two teams on a frozen lake, and two brewers on opposite ends. Kegs keep appearing in the middle of the lake, and you need to get them to your brewer. Players without kegs can knock players over, or kick them, or stomp to trip opponents. Meanwhile, when you have a keg you can spill some on the ground to slip pursuers, or bash them over the head with the keg, or punt it, or take a sip for a speed boost.
There was so much to do. At one stage I was just standing around, not sure what to do next. Then, an area announcement stated that the lionguard are prepping to invade a norn battle camp. It was a two-pronged attack to first take the towers, then we cleared the center and had to occupy it for a minute. Then a large norn beast appeared, and about twenty of us fought for almost ten minutes to kill the thing.
That's one example of how small events kept building into large scale fun-fests.
Unfortunately I didn't get to try WvW. I really, really wanted to, but had a bad stomach bug which had me out of commission half the weekend. It looks great to, and I've heard great things.
Likewise, I didn't get to level 30, so I couldn't try out the Ascalonian Catacombs, the first dungeon in the game. The videos looked great though, and I'm really bummed that I wouldn't try out these two aspects of the game.
What I can say is, the combat is smooth, fast, and frenetic. You need to stay aware of the battlefield, and know what your skills do. just standing on one spot, spamming the no.1 key will get you killing. The skills are varied, and the professions are so diverse. Even a single profession can be played so differently between two players.
Everything about this game is so polished. It's so natural to play, and insanely easy to work with other players. I formed a lot of groups, because the game wants you to work with players, even will just questing.
Every person should give GW2 a try. Best of all is, pay once and play forever. There was even a developer video not long ago where they stated that due to the natural flow of content, they will be adding more after release and keep the game building for years to come.
RP? I don't understand what you mean by it's 'too RP'. I can only assume that you are referring to the personal story. If so then I think your making a mistake to base your entire opinion of the game on a mode that represents less than a quarter of the entire product. Like I said above, you can play the entire game, and not even do the personal story past the ten minute introduction.
You can jump between events, level through crafting, stick to renown hearts, try mini games, just explore, focus on dungeons (each dungeon has two modes: story (easy) and explorable (hard), and has multiple paths and outcomes), or you can solely PvP by just doing WvW, or you can jump straight into structured pvp and play competitively.
This game has so much variation, and doesn't even force any of it on you. The developers have even stated that you can level a character to 80 by just crafting and never even set a foot outside the city.

Granted, Blizzard did botch up here and there, and they're busy fixing the cracks in the structure, but like I already said, the foundation is very solid. When the first expansion ships, we can all be assured that the experience will skyrocket and we will all benefit from it.

1. The attributes themselves bother me a bit. What I didn't like about D2 was that you pumped Str and Dex just enough to use your items, and the rest went into Vit. The system wasn't fun, and D3 replicated that to an extent. Two attributes stand out, they just change depending on your class.
So, what I thought would work was a) let all stats add to damage, or if you'd like to keep that exclusivity, let the prime attribute stand out a bit. For instance, for a DH Str and Int will give .80 damage, while Dex gives 1. if that doesn't resolve the problem, then why not bind a few of the other stats onto the attributes, like Dex grants some crit damage, and Str adds a type of bonus to damage effects (such as stun, bleed, slow, etc.). c) An extreme I thought of was separating them into offensive and defensive attributes, though that would cause a bit of an overhaul and I doubt Blizzard would want to go that far.
I don't know. As of now the attributes just feel uninspiring, and unfortunately carry a bit of the D2 stigma along with them. The thing that's bad about this is, items are the best way of building your attributes, and the problem I have with the attributes are carried over onto them.
2. Gems, the problem I have with attributes just goes over to the gems. They are the second best way you build your attributes, and because the attributes aren't that inspiring, most classes I see have the specific class gem in all their gear. If attributes become a bit more interesting then you'll actually have to consider what gems to equip and not just blindly throw rubies, or amethysts into all your sockets.
Something else that bothers me is that they take up a gear slot. It might seem like a no brainer, after all, they do need to be a part of your gear. What bothers me is, since there are no attribute points, this feels like the best way to build your attributes the way you want. Blizzard took away the jeweler mechanic to place sockets into gear, because they felt it was mandatory. Well I say give all items sockets. Remove them from gear rolls, and rather give every piece of gear a set roll. For instance, blue items roll 0-2 sockets, while rares and legendaries roll 1-3 slots. That way all items have a sense of stabilizability built into them, while keeping the randomness.
Eventually Blizzard will add in more socketables. I'd especially like to see something akin to jewels from D2 make a return, have some random stats be rolled and socketable. Gems just feels underused, and I feel they play a much larger role than D2, and have great customization options available.
3. This won't be immediately implemented, but I'd just like to bring a potential idea out from the confines of my mind. There are minor stats on items that I feel just detracts from what could potential make an item so much more attractive. MF is a prime example, and this is a major point of contention. My thoughts are, take MF, GF, +XP. pickup radius, and +globe healing away from items. Charms are by far the best home for weird stats like these that aren't bad, but just competes with greater stats and become rarely used.
I remember it's been said that these stats are there to sift between desirable items and set some apart from the good ones. Really? So these are supposed to be undesirable by design. No, they are good, but become throw away in the pursuit to improve damage out defense. That's not right, I feel they need a better home, and charms would be such a good place to have them.
Well, that's just rambled thoughts. Some might not work in the game, but it's just small things that's been bugging me, and where I'd like to see improvement.
TL;DR: A few things in the itemization process didn't feel right, so I had some ideas what I'd do if I could change them.
1. Attributes feel unexciting. Make all attributes exciting for all classes, it will make items mor interesting.
2. Gems feel underused. Rather than having sockets roll with gear, give all gear a socket roll.
3. Minor stats contest with the needed stats and become thrown away in the process. Maybe move them to charms.
