Kennigit (a reliable source and moderator in the Teamliquid.net community) has confirmed his and R1ch Blizzcon Beta invites. He reveals there is no start date yet...
If you need a prior Diablo III beta game license, how is it "open"?
You still get a "license" in open betas.
Because it seems to be a very limited portion of the game and they are just looking to test their infrastructure this seems very possible.
My only counter-intuition is that Blizzard did say they would give out 1,000 beta keys to Blizzcon attendees which would make those pretty useless if it went straight into an open beta.
Quick question I bought a blizzcon ticket on my current account for this year, are they handing out the keys to people like me or people who attended last year? This will be my first blizzcon
The 1,000 keys are for last years Blizzcon. As to anyone who purchased tickets this year in their battle.net accounts; AFAIK nothing has been mentioned.
Btw, you'll have a lot of fun! Blizzcons are pretty awesome.

That's weird, they originally had the exact quote in their Inferno article and then pulled it out and only quoted "When it's ready." in that new mini-blip thing. I think his original quote on Kotaku was "by the end of September" but I didn't copy it down.
Anyway, to set expectations straight, beta in August is unlikely. But it shouldn't be too long after.

"Leah has received adequate weapons training and will now properly fire arrows from her bow during this scene, rather than from her feet."

All I got was the cow and the lyrics to safety dance D: I guess I patched too early.

I kinda agree. Although the new one feel more spooky I guess.
The only reason I would choose the new one over the old one is because it makes more sense given where you hero starts the game.

You know, in case you don't want to download anything.

I think it has to be a gag put in the data.

Mods please delete this topic. I asked Kennigit directly saying it was a press beta.

Blizzcon invites are different from Press beta invites. I'm getting clarification right now though.

Also, another thread (less credible)

Chambermaid says he received his beta e-mail today and has contacted blizzard support about the e-mail to confirm it's legitimacy
His reply about blizzard supports reply
Edit: Sorry, Kennigit's invite he received this weekend was for Press Beta invite. Chambermaid's claim is still unproven.
