posted a message on System Changes
So, first they thought going back to town every 3 minutes to sell all your items was uncool, so they added the Cauldron of Jordan. I thought that was a great idea. I'm glad they took all this time to change that system and make it exactly the same as Diablo 2 after all these very important iterations. Now we get mountains of useless items and have to constantly go back to town if we want to sell them. So yeah, now tons of crap will be left on the floor. Mission accomplished? And now, instead of quickly identifying items for free with Cain, we have to spend two seconds staring at each item. What is the point of this? What a waste of time. Oh, but you can TP all you want... big difference from Diablo 2, right? Those TP scrolls were really expensive!

At this point, it's pretty clear they don't know what they're doing. Everything that is not a tried-and-true formula is either iterated til it becomes one, or simply removed (see charms, see Mystic). They're just endlessly iterating and second-guessing themselves, and it's become a rather boring thing to watch. How can anyone even be excited about the game at this point?

This game will not even be close to done when Q1 ends. Expect late 2012, if anything. That much is painfully obvious. Save yourself the grief, just don't even bother having expectations. These guys are determined to crush them.

lol @ "No one will remember if the game is late". Stories about the time it's taking for Blizzard to make this game will be told to our grandchildren, Jay.

What do you mean it doesn't really continue where Diablo I left off?

The rise of the Lord of Terror is the direct result of the events unfolded in the first game... in fact, the Dark Wanderer himself is the hero from Diablo I; the player.

If anything, the story's gradually becoming more intricate. In Diablo I, the story was restricted to Tristram and its undergrounds, yet in Diablo II we have the Rogue Encampment, Lut Gholein, Kurast, Harrogath, Mount Arreat... Also, since Diablo I was released, there have been several books released, all of which give extra depth to the story we know from the games.

Can you explain what you mean by drifted away?

    Quote from LinkX

Not quite. Either A ) you get less drops per player or B ) you get equal/more drops per player. Less drops would mean that co-op would be at a disadvantage, equal or more drops would mean co-op would be at a severe advantage.

I guess I just am not following the news story very well.
It's confusing because a lot of things have been said, but in the end it's quite simple.

You get equal drops per player. You kill faster stuff in multiplayer. Therefore, you get stuff faster in comparison to single player.

Whether you're in a single player or a multiplayer game, the drops you see will always be your drops, and they are always calculated in the same manner: the amount of players in the game doesn't affect your drop rates. It just affects killing speed, so indirectly it affects the amount of items you're going to get per time unit.

The amount of players does not increase the chances of you getting a particular item.

The best penalty for death is the character being dead forever.

    Hardcore FTW.
    +1

Just for practical reasons, I'll start out with softcore characters. Once I know the game inside out and have a sensible amount of capital to start over with a good, well thought-out character, it'll definitely be Hardcore.

    Hi everybody,
I'm french, and with another friend, we are fans of diablo (40 y.o. !), players from the first version.
We Wonder if there is a possibility of beeing beta tester of the new diablo III.
Is there any site to candidate?
    thanks.
You'll want to go to the Battle.net site then.

All you have to do is go to the account management section, and click on the Beta Profile Settings link on the right. Follow the steps and you'll officially be a candidate :) Do know that the chances of getting selected into the beta are very slim.

Once you enter your CD-key on the battle.net page you register it just like a normal digital copy. You can download it as many times as you want then.
    I didn't know that. That's awesome!

Not 60usd my country the dealer is bloody face last time the sc2 is up almost 110 usd (normal version not limited)
The region in my country dealer alway use to sell the game in singapore region (us language)
First time i though the digital download is more complicate to buy(now i already change my mind but i still want physic too lol)

    And thanks for advice
No prob :) SC II was the first game I bought online, and let me tell you... it couldn't have been simpler! The only thing that was mildly annoying was waiting for it to download. After that, no problems at all.

If I were you, I'd try to get a physical copy, but making damn sure it's the region I wanted. If you find there are none and you're dying to play, just download it, you can buy the physical copy of the expansion(s) when it comes out :P

If you want a physical copy, you need to make sure that it's been made specifically for the region you want to play in, because the retail versions are already region-locked before you even take the disc out of the box. So if, say, someone bought a copy made for Latin America and brought it over to where you lived and sold it to you, you'd only be able to play in the LA servers.

If you choose to buy a digital copy -and you'd be wise to if you live outside the States- then you get to choose whatever region you want to play in as you buy it. But be careful, once you pick your region, you don't get to change it, ever. If you want to play in another region later, you need to buy a different copy. You can download as many copies as you want of the versions you bought though, as they're linked to your Battle.net account.

So... it all depends on which server you want to play on. Choose wisely!
