Was thinking about keeping my gold tied up in gems (max level gems) - they will always be worth somthing I would think

I think pretty much everyone who is not a botter sits in the 1-20 mil range, the only exception is if you are currently saving up for a big big ticket item, like 150-200mil weapon

    Heya Sythan,

Your looking good, I would ask why you don't have a red gem in your helm for the XPs? Or perhaps your just not in a hurry to paragon level. Overall really good - I'm working towards duel wielding rather than playing with a shield, but my current shield is such a massive stat stick its hard to give up, plus I like having MF on it.

Main thing I wan't / need is a new weapon with high +Crit Damage!

    Here is my monk:

Hit 16 last night - still no legnedaries since the patch.
I run with 200% MF unbuffed

My normal days are, after I get home from work, log in and do 2 full clears of act 3 (each clear takes me between 2-3 hours)

I found a 1278 dps Centurian Spear (Woot) which sold for 40 million
I found a 1450 dps Doom Hammer (woot) with a socket and 75% crit chance which sold for 35 Million

So, I can't complain too much - but I really wan't to find some of these legendaries!

Question for those of you finding multiple legnedaries each day:

1: What is your MF at unbuffed?
2: Is your daily shcedule different from mine? (I do 2 act 3 clears each day, do you do more? different areas?)

    TY

This appology/state of the game was pretty awesome.

1: More than just PvP coming in the next patch (endless mode?, some kind of challenge mode? who knows)
2: They recognize the "short circut" the AH has caused - I made a post a few days talking about why I hadted the AH and felt having millions of items at your finger tips was a bad thing - looks like they are on the same page.

Most importatnly, its nice to just hear they are still working - the game still needs alot of love

Promising, but I'm not sold yet.

...Because it's still farming just for the sake of farming, there's no goal in the game that would actually require more gear. It's definitely a good start though.
I'd say PvP will be the anwer to your question. Then it will be farming for the sake of being able to farm fast AND kill people better.

The paragon levels thing is just the thing to keep me going.. somthing to make progress on!!
Getting more and more MF will be AWESOME - seeing more and more legendaries drop as you level :)
Shedding my current MF gear will be nice too!

I do think another "mode" will be a nice addition to an expansion - an endless dungeon or somthing - but for now, this mode is WAY more than I was hoping to see prior to the PvP patch - and its plenty to get me excited / reamped to grind away for the perty shiny portraits and stats/mf/gf

ok i need some small help to get this right :S :S :S

so why is this different from line normal leveling?
its like they just added 100 more levels?

or because its upgrading only your gold and magic find +3% (3*100leves the cap 300%) this makes a difference?

so it give you a motivation to play more just in case you find a bit better loot with Magic Find?

only that? no other advantages? :?: :?:

You get more stats (In the area of 100-200 Vitality and 200-300 of your primary stat)
You get more MF and GF - basically, the longer you play the better items you'll get - its really quite elegant. EWven while farming up pure crap for hours at a time, your improving the quality/quanitity of the crap you'll find in the future.
Your also "out leveling" the need to use MF on yoru gear (which is the controversial part of this patch it seems).

I love it myself. MF will only be useless on items to people who reach 100PL, which will likely not be a large % of the player base. Especially if you have to do it on every character. MF will still be plenty worthwhile on gear for a long time.

For hardcore folks like myself, I like the idea of using MF on my gear, but then upgrading to a better piece that doesn't have MF cause I don't need it.

I'm a bit torn on the removal of MF off items (long term) but my gutt, intitial recation is that its a good change. I like the idea of eventually being able to "Out Level" the need to wear magic find. In fact, I like that idea ALOT.

Edit* I'm suprised at the addition of Core stats when you leve up - lets say you get 2 Dex per level.. thats 200 more Dex.. pretty huge amount!

I'll bet this is VERY similar to the PvP level up system refered to in the announcment that PvP would be pushed back - similar layout at least.

Any way - this patch (despite some of my own issues with the game which will persist) is becoming really amazing to me. This is an a ton of stuff (especialy for blizzard) to get into this game a mere 3 months after release.

Of my top 3 issues with the game, they are directly addressing 2 of them, bad legendaries and nothing to do at the end of the game past farm rares.

I really really really hope there are actually 100 levels, that would rock!

I do think they will reset this at some time - it makes sense to me. It would be like a race to 100 every 6 months or somthing.

If i could take back using the AH i would. I didnt forsee myself hating it as much as i do. But no, i hate the AH, not my inability not to use it. You can say all you want its just a more convenient way to trade, and its better than trading in D2 was (a theory i held and defended prelaunch). But, at the end of the day, i played TONS of D2 and many many hours now of D3.. and i never had the feeling of "absolutely zero chance" of finding an item i wanted in D2.. maybe the patch will adress that.

So.. your opinion is that the AH works.. i respect that, mine is that the ease at which you can buy godlike items is a major factor in what is holding D3 back right now.

Ohh.. and what compeled me to buy them (the boots) is because the game naturally causes you to go to the AH for items.. saying "so why use the AH?" Is like asking a democrat "whyd you take that Bush tax rebate? You voted against it".

    1) If by finding an item you want, do you mean an item with a different coloring? Legendaries don't drop a lot, and I've seen way more uniques in D2 than Legendaries in D3. I've only ever seen one drop. But rares are abundant. Diablo is about randomness, and Diablo 3 is as random if not more random than D2.

    2) You could easily find godlike items in D2... trade channels, trade games, parking lots where you could follow people who drop traded and steal their items (that was fun). And that's not mentioning d2jsp or whatever it was called.

    3) The game doesn't cause you to do anything. You choose what you want to do. Die over and over? Fine, do it. Don't touch the auction house? Good on ya. Check the auction house every 15 minutes? Sure, why not.

I've used the auction house a bunch of times. It feels good to find a really good item on the AH, but it feels even better IDing my own item. Will that stop me from using the AH? No, because I can do both and still enjoy the game.

TL;DR: If you don't like it, then don't use it. Trading is trading, no matter whether there is a built-in UI for it or not.

1: I'll admit, part of my complaint likely lies with the fact I play a Monk - which means basically any piece of gear requires 35+ Fire Resists (my chosen resist) and 35+ All Resisit as a pre-req to be good, usable for me. I found a nice pair of boots when I first hit act 3 that had Fire, AR, Speed and Dex - but they were no where near the level of my current (purchased) boots. Every piece I have is purchased from the AH now, and I have never found anything even close in all my hours of playing. I've found good stuff, maybe for a Wizard, or for a Demon Hunter, but not for a Monk.

2: Yes, you could, but it required more effort (so alot of people just didn't bother) and you didn't feel like the game was designed to make you search for trade games. In D3, I feel like its meant to be used as your primary way to find new gear.

3: Your right in a way - which is why I have started fresh characters on EU realm which will not use the AH at all, as I said in my origianl post, had I known how much I would detest the AH, I would have tried hard not to use it to start with. But I still say people who say "if you dont like it dont use it" had/have a really valid point when it comes to the RMAH, but not the Gold AH - its there, and you'd be a fool not to use it - all I'm saying is that this is the first game of this type where finding your own gear out in the world felt secondary to browsing an Auction House..

Despite my major dislike for the AH - I still like D3. I play it ALOT even still. I am looking forward to the patch. I just think that the AH was a good idea that has made the game worse. Thats my opinion.

For the short term - if this is true - this sounds fun. I'll play a BUNCH. Probably farm up 3000-4000 elite kills and get some legendaries, work on MF.

However - if this is true - in the Longterm, Diablo really is dead. BoE?? Really? The AH will have finaly dealt a death blow to the game if they go the BoE route..

Hey Blizzard.. do the right thing and get rid of the god forsaken.. blasted Auction House and institute trade games!

Because trading through chat and forums is not the same thing as using the auction house. SIGH.

Its not.. if you can't see why its not the same then im not sure I can help but I'll try:

Blizzard's Diablo 3 Auction House: Hundreds of Thousands (if not millions) of items at your figer tips at any time. You feel like your supposed to spend your time browsing the Auctions House rather than play the game and find your own items. The feeling if finding your own item is not present in Diablo 3. Oh.. and it causes Blizzard to do stupid things like Ballance item drops for the AH's presence and (possibly) implementing BoE items.. uhg.

Trading, while accomplishing the same thing, doesn't do it in an IN YOUR FACE kind of way.

Look at it this way.. when you buy items from a site in D2, you would probably feel a little dirty (never mind weather you think its ilegal or not), almost like you cheated. Well thats how I feel when I play D3..

I just bought new boots.. for 12 million gold - they are awesome.. but the excitement I got from clicking "buy now" was lackluster to say the least..

Bahh.. this is actually the first time Ive posted about my strong DISlike for the AH, but suffice to say.. put me firmly in the "I hate the AH" crowd.

    Quote from Slayerviper

With the LE-GEN-DA-RY and this barb previes (I use HoA, I'm a romantic), my only real concern is the nerfing of Inferno. Why now when the skills are being buffed?

    Blizzard is delivering, at last...

They stated that they shouldn't have put inferno in... or at least the way they have designed the item hunt and inferno. They are basically just making it "another difficulty" and not an endgame tactic. I believe they announced they would be adding something new for end game... don't remember if that was in 1.0.4 or a future patch.

Exactly - Inferno's whole concept failed - Blizzard knows it.

It started as flat difficulty, somthing to provide a challange at all times
    That didnt work
Then they made it just a stupidly (we doubled it!) over tuned 4th difficulty - all that did was highlight the games flaws (bad items, poor pacing for upgraded.. you name it, inferno made it more obvious and bad)
Now, they've basically brought inferno more in line with just another difficulty, nothing special about it except its the last one. Thats how it should be.

Now we all just need to wait while they plug in some kind of end game fun (Levels of excelence?)

They're on the right track though. Good job Bliz :)
