I played both of the games and got one conclusion (even played diablo 2 in b4).
WoW: you spend a few hours/days to learn the game/boss mechanics, and, after you kill that boss you already know the drop chance of the gear you need. So you gonna keep killing it until it drop.
Diablo 3: If you want some piece of gear you have 2 choices:
1) Farm till you get bored and sell the stuffs on the AH, asking the Gods to ppl buy your gear so you can finally buy the piece you want @ ah.
2) Farm the bosses until you die in front of your computer hoping the gear to drop, and, if drop, you gotta have luck with the stats, bc it can be some shit piece with intel/dest, str/intel.
My point is.. both of the games are good.
But, at least in wow you know... someday you probably will get your gear.
In Diablo its just random, everything is random. If you think about spending your money with this game in the AH you gotta review your concepts about money, bc, imo, it's not gonna worth.
They turned what we knew as D2 into something unknow called D3.

haha, but really, I'm guessing they're talking about how it's about time it's being released and how they loved the games. -

Blizzard's reasons for emphasizing co-op PvE over PvP are clear, and should be well understood by now. I feel it is a serious mistake however, to ignore the significant demand for performance metrics. Players of all skill levels will have a natural desire to measure their performance against that of other players, and my goal here is to offer an alternative to arena pvp that avoids the issue of balance altogether.
The Solution:
What I envision is essentially a team-based game mode that ranks teams based on all kinds of interesting statistics. You jump into Bnet, and create a game with your team members. You then proceed to run the selected D3 quest as a team. The team is then measured on clear times, damage dealt, damage taken, loot/gold earned etc. Your team is then ranked accordingly. You can then compare your team's performance in quest X against the performance of others.
Obstacles:
As I see it, the one serious obstacle to this sort of thing is the random dungeon/encounter element that makes Diablo so replayable. My solution to this is straightforward: create a single "build" for every quest that persists through every team ladder season. Competitive teams will then be able to practice the same dungeons over and over until they achieve surgical efficiency. On the other hand, the randominity could very well be ignored, and teams would have to deal with the random construction of dungeons and encounters as an integral part of the competitive co-op experience.
TL,DR:
A team-based ranked co-op game mode would be a great way to please competitive Diablo players.
I am eager to get some good feedback, and encourage the community to discuss.

I wanted to cross-post this here to see what the diablofans forum feels about this. Personally I think this would be great, and I'm curious as to what blizzards response to this would be. (Maybe you guys can give the bnet thread a bump)
The way I envision it, this would be a totally different game mode, with maybe 10 of the quests from the whole game available. You cue up as a party, then compete to complete the set quest. -

I had a few issues with a past relationship when it came to gaming and I eventually had to just tell her she was a fucking moron and kick her out of the house, lol. -

Beechsack posted a message on Without Ladder Resets, D3 Replayability is Doomed. You'll see more expansion content with D3 than you did with D2.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
The RMAH gives Blizzard a defined source of revenue to fun continued development work on addition content. A ladder system or reset isn't needed. -

Below are some images I gathered of similarly themed zones and how they've changed. Enjoy! The palette is fairly brief and limited obviously since D3 isn't released, but there's enough for a few fun comparisons here...
