I'm a little disappointed that nothing was done with the Monk's Mystic Allie, it really needed a few rune changes and a damage buff, but I'm sure that will come in time...hopefully
As long as they dont change the AI of it I will never use it. Nothing is more frustrating when you fight/kite one mob of elites when it suddenly decides to run off and aggro another blue pack. Adds should have three different settings for you to chose from; aggressive, defensive and passive.

Btw... is there any info about buffing dual wielding?

With elites it should work wonders if you focus all your damage on a single target. When the monster is 50% health, drop EP, kill the dude and watch hilarity ensue.

Only works if the others also die from it. I had 8 yellows drop for me the other day. It had orgasm written all over it :D

I hope they will continue to work on legendaries in future patches. 50 changes doesnt rock my boat. It is actually almost an insult. There are many many more items that need work. So for to make me continue my endless farming they need to continue to buff legendaries. Is there any word on this btw? Would be nice to know.

On a side note I can also mention I have over 400 hours of game time, 0 set items, 1 Blacksmith +5 affixes, 0 Blacksmith +6 affixes and 1 Jeweler design.

tell me your builds and what u think i have to consider changing in my skills comp. =D

It all comes down to taste and flavour of how you want to play. I can surely say that your dps is struggling for an inferno build. Sure you will be hard to kill but it will take you forever to kill something. Do you have that patience? With your build I would definetly go for a shield and set my mind towards a more tanky kind of play.

You can see my favourite build below. It is what I will primarily go for, but it all depends on what gear I find. I have other builds but this one is my favourite. It gives you a good idea of an optional way of playing Inferno.

    Take care.

I think there should be a 0 tolerance for it. And I do mean 0! All forums should get in motion to start deleting all talk about exploiting without any exceptions. Every mention of such things should immediatley be erased! Because by doing so the forum wont contribute in any way from spreading such things and those who want to cheat are forced to do a more aggressive search elsewhere.

Even if you start a topic about how bad cheating, duping, hacking botting etc is it should be deleted. Even if you just happen to mention in a thread that you used to know a guy who enjoyed exploiting the game there should be a deletion. 0 tolerance is the way!

    Just my 2 cents.

I'm pretty sure the ray of frost won't be free ( I still hope) but I think that the rune is different in the game than on the calculator else I would have taken that aswell.
One thing that might cause a problem for you (if the ray of frost does end up being free it could work) is that you have no real damage spell with controle over beside ur main which if switched out for a signature spell won't be that great damage whise. haven't tried that rune though so can't say for sure but I think it will be too random to rely on solely for damage

    Thank you for your answer!

Yes you are right with what you say. The build relies almost solely on the Ray of Frost and that is intentional :)
The thought is to control the mobs with Ice Armor, Time Bubble and Frost Nova in conjunction with the increased damage buff from Cold Blooded when using Ray of Frost. But one also has to remember that the Arcane Torrent and Archon explosion are great dps bursts if things get close and narrow.

If Blizzard doesnt nerf Ray of Frost too hard and that rune is still there when the game gets released.... omg... this build... yummy!! Heres to hoping!

I am trying to find a good combo for a future wizard. Rather pleased with this one. Very evil!

He has a powerful primary spell in Ray of Frost.which is free to cast, just like a normal signature spell. If timed correctly with the Frost Nova and Slow Time it will be very powerful! And again... free to cast!

As for burst damage there is a great combo with first using the Time Bubble, then freeze everything with the Frost Nova to get the evil Arcane Torrent in place and finally explode into Archon form to mop up the rest. Rince and repeat :)

    Hey guys!

A funny thing happened to me just recently. I was feeling a bit bored so I thought I would fool around with some builds and suddenly I stopped and looked a bit indepth on what Ive created. I was so stunned by the moment because I had no intention of doing something serious and I ended up with something I might go for as soon as the game gets released. I really like this guy! Have a looksie plz :)

This guy will first Leap into a mob and stun everything. After that he will soon have a whooping 100%(!) increased attack speed with an 80%(!) increased damage. This means that when he is at full Frenzy his Hammer of the Ancients will hit for 350% damage (or 486% depending on how you use the +% increase). He can also use Overpower to boost the length of WotB. And to top things off, he heals himself for 3% of all the damage he does :D I wanted to give him a suitable name as well so now present to you:

Ok... so I have a few quick questions I need answers to.

    1. Can anyone find out if the Nephalem Valor stacks with skill runes such as the barbarians Birthright or do you have to kill something to get the benefits from the buff?

    2. How does the +% damage increase work? For example; the Wizards Slow Time with the skill rune Time Warp increases all damage by 20%. Will this make the (for example) Ray of Frost do 235% damage or 258%? Pretty important difference imo. This question regards every class of course, not just the Wizard. My personal saying is that if you look at how the sentence is formulated the damage should be 258%. What do you guys think?

    Thank you for your time

I agree :( It is not the best of builds and I also think you could do alot better :) Let me tell you why.

In this build you have too much fury generation. Five fury generators makes your choice with Unforgiving hard to understand. It is a waste of a passive slot. Simple as that. And you also plan to use WotB but you forget that there is a two minute CD on it. Do you honestly tell us that you plan to run around with this build only to get that 100% damage boost every 15 seconds? Not worth it in my book. You also lack a powerful burst damage and you have no DoTs. Im sorry but I dont like your build.

Take a look at my build down under. It should give you an idea of how to make a nice barbarian :)

Nice AoE build. I'd only change unforgiving to Tough as Nails. The reason is that fury degeneration, in game, is quite low, and you have a spammable fury generation aoe ability... so, no need of it. Instead you're quite low on the defensive side (except for CCs)

Yes the good thing is that Unforgiving is a passive among a few others to choose from. For the presentation I opted for Unforgiving just to be on the safe side to be able to spam Whirlwind a few times. You can also go for Bloodthirst to regenrate even more from all the massive AoE output. That would be a good combo with the heals coming from Revenge as well. Tough as Nails as you suggested is also a good option as well as Ruthless for that extra damage-spike.

Just look at the AoE he does. First a Ground Stomp for control and then a 230% per second Earthquake (free to cast and reduced cooldown) and 80% Rend per second for additional melt. Then throw off a few 160% Whirlwinds on everything inside the area of the Earthquake to finish things off. Also keep in mind that anything near him have a whooping 30% chance to get hit by 250% whenever he gets hit.

I am very pleased with this build. What a monster. I present to you:

So many barbarians so I decided to do a Witch Doctor. This guy can do alot of things, most imortantly deal horrendous damage, but also use a different and funny way of gameplay.

By controling the enemy with Grasp of the Dead, the dogs and Gargantuan can do some easy tanking. Keep in mind the increased damage to 72% for 8 seconds instead of the usual 40%. This gives him time to spew his 240%(!) firebats at anything slowed by GotD. It doesnt melt faster than that. Woohoo!!!

If anything goes wrong he can use his Horrify to protect him and it will also grant him a big boost of instant mana. If he still gets hurt his four dogs will soak up some damage for him, and if he ever runs out of mana he can still dish out some evil damage with his mana-free 170% frogs.

I present to you: Dr Evil

To me, it feels like they had taken away that feeling of excitement when you find the rune you are looking for. Also, the thing that bugs me the most is that its now just something you unlock through levels. I personally feel like they could have implemented this in a better way, rather than handing out runes like candy when you level up. Runes should have been a reward for something, not just a handout :/

    This.... +1

I dont like this. It takes away the adaptability in which I had to customize my gameplay to with the old system. This new system gives me too much control over my character.

The only thing now that will force me to find another rune-combo is gear. If I find a cool item that fits better with another rune I can just swap to that rune, IF I want to use that item. The downside is that I probably will have to sacrifice something else in order to get the best out of that single item and that is not a good thing in my book.

In the old system I was free to play in a certain way that made me feel comfortable. But then I would find this awsome runestone and I had to completely find a new way to play IF I wanted to use it on a certain skill. Big difference.

Thx for your reply. You tend to miss an important bit :)
Horrify with an instant 325 mana per enemy is as OP as it gets. With that I can spam firebats on anything. But I understand your argument regarding PtV and I do plan to have some mana regeneration gear as well to back it up. But if it still comes to a point where the extra dps cant cope with the mana output I will have to think of a better passive that goes well with this build. Cause I do like the build :D

Thx for your comments. Appreciate your time.

oh well i suppose he can always use his normal attack that gives 3 or 4 fury - dont remeber - theres a topic on this forum about that.

Thank you for your answers. There are some questions regarding Fury generation. The plan is to do it in this way:

War Cry ==> Charge into cc ==> Rend ===> Overpower ==> Maybe another Overpower or else Charge out of cc ==> Wrath of Berserker ==> Ancients

Then all over again. AoE ftw... :)

    Quote from dnothing23

    clarification please?

No she doesnt give you two items. She gives you two optional rolls on the same item. Sorry if I was a bit unclear.

    My suggestion is this:
If you take an unidentified object to the Mystic to be identified she will look into her magic crystal ball and tell you that the item will either be like this or like that. This will give you two options to chose from, i.e the game rolls two rolls on the same item and gives you the opportunity to chose the roll best suited for your character. The one you didnt chose gets discarded.

I hope I could make it clearer now. This probably has to be restricted in some way though, kinda like the socketing in D2 or something similar.

The whole idea of D3 is randomness. With your idea you give the players the option to tailor their gear, which will eventually lead up to a point where randomness is no longer needed. I cant approve this, sorry.

To me the mystic should provide a service intended for the profession, like the ability to forsee the future. Lets say you have a cool Legendary item you havent identified yet. What if the mystic can give you a choice? If you pay her a fee (or other solution) to identify the item for you leaving you with two random rings to chose from. If you are not satisfied with the stats on one ring you can always chose the other one.

    * I bet you all that in 1 month from now we will see a new and fantastic Beta wave. Woohoo!
    * Finally, I bet Activision is really happy with how the game progresses and the complete farce this whole situation has become.

I wonder what EA would have done with Bioware if Bioware would have struggled like this when SWToR was in beta? Whoopish!!

D3 cinematic didnt touch his soul, yeah thats proffessional. It explains it all.

No silly ;) Its not like Im being spiritual or anything :xD:
What I meant was that when I watched the intro of Diablo 2 I got a total feeling of gasp when it ended. There are many reasons why I didnt get that same feeling when Diablo 3s intro ended but lets not discuss that. It is :offtopic:

What I think Im trying to tell you is that (and Im being totally honest here) for a brief moment, just a few miliseconds after Diablo 2s intro ended, I was scared. At the end when the logo zoomed with the music, I got the shivers. That feeling was a very breath-taking moment. There is no better way to describe it. I was scared. I hope you can understand how powerful the difference is between the two intros if I put it in those words. When you watched Diablo 2s intro the first time you just sat there, gasping, computing what you just had seen. It was in my opinion, how it was built up and executed, one of the most epic and powerful intros ever.

In fairness I have to say that with only 2 minutes and 49 seconds on the clock Blizzard did create something dramatic and exciting. And when that singing of that arabic woman when the logo of Diablo 3 kicks in, that complaining sound, full of agony and dispair. Very powerful!

However... the intro as a whole did not create a moment where I felt a touch of shiver. A brief moment of hesitation to press "play".

This cinematic is not supposed to tell Diablo's life story or introduce anyone to the world of Sanctuary. It is merely a lead into Chapter 1 of Diablo 3. Just like that in D2 with Marius telling us how he met the wanderer leading into chapter 1, then connect chapter 1 and 2, 2 and 3 and so on.

Exactly! And the way it was done in Diablo 2 was epic! 7 minutes of yummy intro. 7 minutes is a very long time! In that time you can build up a feeling, tell a story, set a plot, create a mood and lead up to an exciting cliffhanger. You are free to use your mind to create something extraordinary. Nothing in Diablo 3s intro is even near to touch my soul with those things. When watching Diablo 2s intro today and seeing that ending I still get goosebumps.

From that moment, we travelled together. East. Always into the east.

    It.... it is focking beautiful!!

It's also interesting that all of you people complaining about it are not taking into account that there are also many people who like the cinematic very much.

Dont get me wrong. I enjoyed it. But when I compare it with what the franchise has delivered before I feel it was a let down. The intro was too short, only 2.49. Diablo 2 had more than 7 minutes.

I actually sat down and watched all three trailers in a row. You should actually look at them in this order; intro, teaser, soultstone to get a fair chronological order of them.

The conclusion I could make up from watching them together like this (and it is pretty obvious if you do it) is that Leah plays a central and very important role in Diablo 3. All three videos center around her. She is the one having all the visions and dreams. She is the one getting attention from hell. She is in possesion of a very important artifact making her hot prey. If hell wants it then so must heaven. I would also like to add that I get the feeling there is something buried here. We have not seen everything.

But as an intro by itself it did not deliver anything near the mystery and cruel nature we saw from the epic intro of Diablo 2, hence making it a small failure in my book.

    Compare this with...

Diablo 2 had over 7 minutes worth of intro. It told a story and set a plot. In my opinion it was a very intelligent and carefully built intro with an awareness of giving the player a really exciting cliffhanger.

    Diablo 3... meh.

    * Is there a way to keybind certain skill setups?

Lets say you run around AoE specced wiping mobs all around you. All of a sudden you run into a boss fight. Wouldnt it be quite handy to have a single target spec ready with a quick push of one single button? If the boss is tricky (arcane damage, (right Force?)) you could switch to healing spec instead.

    Hey guys

I am in pipe for a new gaming computer but hardware is definetly not my strongest field. I post this here in hope to get some help from you guys out there. Do you have any ideas and recommendations on how what components I can use.

Alot of stuff is already in place like the case, my new and shiny keyboard, headphones and mouse. I have aprox 1500-2000€ to spend where 2k is close to max but still acceptable and a new screen must be involved in that prize.

I play in a closed environment and need lots of cooling. The case I have is an Antec 900 [http://pwntech.co.uk/resources/components/case/antec900_blackbg.jpg]. Sure the fans are loud but since I play with headphones I dont care :)

I have a few thoughts about the construction. Since I already have a case I just need the hardware. I plan on upgrading to a new computer in about 5 years so some of the components need to last that long. I also plan on upgrading to a new graphics card during this time. I also want to have a strong foundation to start from so a motherboard and processor that can handle their own for 5 years would be preferable. I am also interested in Corsairs new SSD-units so a motherboard that can handle those would also be nice.

So how about it? Can you guys help a fellow gamer out? I would be most grateful. Please feel free to make constructive comments on each others posts so I can get a better view of pros and cons on your suggestions. If you have any questions I will be delighted to answer them.

Then maybe this game is not for you.

Diablo is VERY much a farming game.

Farming for charms, runes, legendaries, rares, gems, farming gold.... diablo is based on loot in a general way.

How did this surprise you in any way, given the events of Diablo 2 + 1 ?

Diablo 2 had tremendous focus on runefarming and item farming in general..

Oh my... Diablo is about farming? Where did you come up with such an idea? That was new to me... thank you for clearing that up ;)

Maybe it was my fault for not being clear enough. Let me try and clarify my point. I get the feeling runes will be the primary foccus for creating a unique character. The creme de la creme of uniqueness. My point was that I dont want it to become a game with its primary goal to farm runes just because they have such a major impact on your gameplay.

Lets speculate. IF runes get affixes when you slot them and you are not happy with the result... you will be forced to farm them (until oblivion) just to get that rune that makes you happy. I dont want to farm my ass off just for one thing. That is boring right? :)

It would be stupid, foolish and devastating to the company to deal with this project with an attitude to only play it safe. It is a short sighted and dangerous path.

If Blizzard wants to stay up there as the flag ship for RPGs, keep their momentum, reputation and improve even further, they are forced to push their limits with this game. There is alot at stake and they know it.

I have very high expectations with Diablo 3. With the first two games as standards the game has alot to live up to and Blizzard is well aware of this. They have the best crew, they have a professional attitude towards their games and I dont think they will be satisfied with releasing anything less than a block buster.

If I dont see new innovative gameplay, new ideas and unique solutions I will be highly disappointed. In fact, I expect to be blown away. Actually, I demand it! Anything less will be considered as a big, bad fail.

Runestones and the new charms especially.

This is what I hope for as well. And I also hope there will be alot of different aspects to bring variety on the actual appearance of your toon to make it stand out and look unique. In no other game I have played have I experienced the complete and unique feeling that no other toon looks like mine.

With so many different possibilites in skill builds and divercity I really, really hope there is enough space for not only creating "endless" builds but also "endless" appearances. To me that would be groundbreaking. Imagine 1 000 000 players, all with their unique looks. How cool wouldnt that be?

Just because EA publishes their games doesn't mean Bioware's products (at least so far) have suffered in quality. You can't just hate a company for who publishes their games, especially considering how little the publishing part of the process effects the actual game. And as for EA not publishing any good games, Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age Origins and II (even though the sequel wasn't so great), and Dead Space 1 and 2, along with Battlefield Bad Company 2 have all been published by EA in recent times. It seems like EA at least knows how to stay out of a developer's hair and let them make a game at this point. And again, its not a vote for EA, its a vote for Bioware. Just like a vote for Blizzard doesn't include Activision.

Yeah I get your point. I hope you get mine. My problem is that EA think they can buy themselves a new profile with Bioware instead of actually adressing their own problem. And to watch Bioware buy in to their bull and start a partnership with them is just as sad.

Blizzard vs Bioware go go go vote!
I really hated this, because i love Bioware and i love Blizzard i play almost all their games it was very hard choice but i did vote for blizzard (Diablo is my favorite game)

I am sorry but I have to ask you this. Why do you love Bioware? This is not trolling but real facts!

It is well known that EA dont know how to produce games with love. There is no depth or any good expansions in ANY of their games. It is a moneymaking machine only interested in profit. They decided to try and change this trend and bought (amongst others) Bioware in hope that they would help them change the view people have towards the company profile. All this has resulted in Bioware being under the influence of a moneymakingnoloveforthecommunity company with hard restrictions and tight budgets. Bioware has dug their own grave and sold their soul, BOOO!!!

You cant change a companys mentality like EA with new additions such as Bioware. Such transformations must be done deep, deep from the top. I will never buy anything with EA on it ever again. Shit company.

We are nothing but pawns in this great and deluding universe we call Gaming Industry.

My vote went for Blizzard  . A small sidenote; I will never again touch a game containing EA or Bioware markings
