posted a message on The Gem Leveling Process in Diablo III
Yeah 19k is a bit too much for each radiant, I can go for the less than 7k which I think is still a long term goal. We also have to keep in mind that we don't lose gems anymore (meaning if a jeweler un-socket a gem from an item, it won't break) meaning it's always a progress.

    good news.

I just wish they put back town portals...i really loved the possibility to rush characters in D2, I actually remember using that tool that let you open two Diablo II's on the same screen, and rush your own character without having to ask a friend or someone on the chat.

I wish someone will figure a way to do it with D3, ( of course you need 2 CD keys but hell, i'd buy 3 versions of Diablo III if i'd have to :D )

But at least blizzard understands that after a while we get tired of redoing the same quests.

Wondering how they will support it? will there be area restricted by level?

Are they going to let lvl 1's go to hell?

also I remember that Diablo II maphack was very usefull in rushing, like for finding the tomb of talrasha, the entrance to the next level in dungeons etc.

I wish we could also have tools like these in D3, made life easier.

now if they allow rushing without town portals, no possibility to rush your own characters, and no map hack, i'm wondering if we could still call that "rushing"

Yes it will be weird and town portal will be surely missed but it's for the good of the game. People are too smart not to find a different way anyway. I don't mean finding glitch or hacks just different strategy for steamrolling a map :)

    Quote from maka

@Crusader: you'd rather grind for loot and crafting materials than levels? Well, you know what I'd rather do? Grind for loot without thinking of levelling, but then once in a while be pleasantly surprised because I gained a level. Playing a game without any hopes of real progression is the ultimate boredom. What's the point of grinding for loot if you're already max level (and, therefore, you have all the skills and traits you'll ever have)? What are you going to do with the loot that you find?

I am not going to argue much with you since we have a different view to it and the game isn't even released yet (meaning I can be wrong and also crave for more levels). What I said is based off what the common knowledge so far for d3 and level cap is the least of my concern. As a diablo gamer, did you really just asked me what I'm going to do with the loot I found, wow? Anyway just an fyi, what I meant grind for loot is to look for that right item for my current build...

posted a message on Bashiok on the Level Cap
I already mentioned this in one of the threads but I'll mention it again since it's brought back by a blue post that I would rather look for loots, craft, arena or do that end game that blizz has planned out for d3 than grinding for level 99. I'm pretty sure Diablo 3 will have hundreds of achievement at release (and more will be added through minor/major patches) that will be a long term goal for everyone and this alone pumps me up!

I bet it will only take 1 good achievement (that gives you a bragging rights) to replace peeps urge to grind for level 99.

posted a message on Will You Craft in Diablo III?

    Quote from CherubDown
"We didn't want the player to spend a ton of time banging on an anvil, when they should be out killin' things. So instead, artisans will do the crafting for you." The info in the article clearly reflects what was said in 2010:

I'm aware of where it comes from; it doesn't change the fact that the description is inaccurate and doesn't apply to the Diablo series. When Jay says, "We didn't want the player to spend a ton of time banging on an anvil", he's only saying that they didn't make the Dialbo 3 crafting system like WoW. I suppose it's a good thing, ya know, to realize that an ARPG is not a MMORPG.

The point is that the Artisans do not do the crafting for you. Here's all the tasks related to crafting in Diablo 3 (keyword being tasks):

    1) Salvaging items
    2) Collecting and storing raw materials
    3) Finding recipes
    4) Collecting gold
    5) Transmuting raw materials

Players salvage items; players collect and store the raw materials; players find the recipes; players collect the gold; players transmute raw materials (for clarity, they go to the Artisan, they chose the recipe, they press the button). The blacksmith doesn't actually do (i.e. "perform a task") anything to craft.

    Quote from Jackzor
Not to mention that salvaging items involves all the "work" of dropping something you don't want or can't use into a salvage cube. And materials don't take up inventory space. All you have to do is basically a few extra clicks in your normal stop in town. After all, you'll have to visit the Blacksmith to repair anyways.

At Blizzcon, Jay also talked about how they wanted to improve the crafting system of Diablo 2. So to improve the system from Diablo 2, they added a dedicated NPC to do the crafting, and yet somehow it's more involved than it was before? That doesn't make any sense.

    Quote from Jackzor
Well for one that would make it so that you could get gold and materials out of one item, which would kind of defeat the purpose of the desicion to salvage or not. Also, a large reason for allowing the player to salvage is so that you can free up inventory space outside of town.

Correct; easily made equivalent by increasing the price of using the materials. Jay Wilson has already stated that salvage is designed for items not worth selling in the first place. Nevertheless, the choice between salvaging an item and selling it isn't necessary to make the game better. Without salvage, it's basically equivalent to the choice between selling the item and just dropping it. Players already have enough options for items: discard, sell, equip, save for later, transfer to another character, or trade. Salvaging is just one more option that really doesn't add a lot of value.

Finally, the game is about killing demons, right? That's pretty much the point that justifies the Artisan and salvaging system. The more focus placed on having players make decisions over all the items that are constantly dropping, the less focus that's placed on killing demons.

This system is completely "optional". If it doesn't make sense to you then don't use it. Oh I just wished you just voted "I'm not going to spend time and resources crafting" and moved on... ;)

I am your typical achievment whore, and I assume there will be an achievments for maxing each artisan. So yes, I will max all of them :)

I feel you man, in Diablo 3 I will definitely be an achievement whore. So maxing all 3 artisans will be one of my many goals in the game!

    Quote from Siaynoq

There's something that bothers me about the gold in this game. And I swear I'm not one of those people who ever felt D3 was way too colorful and all that crap. I just wish the gold didn't sparkle and shine so brightly. Not because I'm against bright things and colors and stuff. But just because it makes it look too arcadish to me. So many arcade style games have lots of sparkly glittery glowing things on the ground for you to walk over to pick up. And yes, I know D2's items on the ground sparkled a bit, but that was pretty different than this, way more toned down.

Some will probably argue, "Well, it's just so you can see the gold better..." Really, though? Or maybe have the gold either glowing or sparkling but not both. It just makes the gold really stand out way too much and it kind of clashes with everything you're seeing. Whether they turn down the brightness or contrast on the gold a bit, I don't care, but they should do something so it doesn't contrast so sharply with everything else around it.

I've watched a lot of diablo 3 gameplay videos over and over and over again but the gold's brightness never really caught my attention till you mentioned it. I see them clearly now but I'm sure I'll forget about it again soon enough :)

I am more concerned on how they will approach the looting. I hope by only clicking alt (or any button you desire) will items will be lootable because I don't want to accidentally mouse over one and try to loot it instead of killing a demon.

It's also good to see more sharper screenshots. I remember when they mentioned that they won't fully support AA but the screenshot has less jaggies especially that last few batch. The artwork also looks cool.

posted a message on Level 60 cap and experience gain rate
Logically the level differences for each difficulty would pace at 30, 20, 10 and that's a lot of what drove the nice round 60 level cap.

These came from one of level 60 cap quotes from bashiok and it looks like a good pace to me. I'm not a big fan of grinding levels nor tried to reach level 99 back in LoD. I would still rather look for that gear/loots or do that end game that blizz has planned out for d3 than grinding for max level. I'm pretty sure Diablo 3 will have hundreds of achievement at release (and more will be added through minor/major patches) and this alone pumps me up!

In my opinion it will only take 1 good achievement (that gives you a bragging rights) to replace peeps urge for being level 99 ;)

posted a message on Reason why D3 is so LATE
I have simple math for you since you compared games.

Zelda - if you're really a dedicated player maybe you will play a single zelda game for 2-3 weeks (maybe a month most) with everything unlocked, all secret/easter egg revealed then you're done.

Diablo 3 - you will be playing for 3-5 years. Oh wait you just discovered another build let's add another year!!

See the underlined words? See my point? Don't get me wrong though I like zelda games, too.

And why must everyone always blame it on WoW? I mean come on, what did WoW do to you? WoW is a good game and if isn't then why the heck does at least 10million plays it, there got to be a reason right? It's not for everyone I get it some people like WoW and some people like minecraft, see my point? Anyway, even before WoW blizzard already does the "when it's done" line. They're just a company that takes care of their games. If you haven't, please watch the blizzard retrospective video on their website, you might learn a thing or two.

posted a message on Rune Swapping Restrictions Poll
Chose other because I wanted the combination of the 2 choices below and added a few suggestion:

There should be a long (hour/s) cooldown after swapping one (selfcast)
    and
Mystic should be able to swap out runes (no CD but costs gold or short/minutes CD but costs cheaper)
