I m thinking it's gonna be another combo capable class like the monk, ranged weapons are a given and appearance wise it might have a hashashin(assassins creed 1 sect) inspired look with some mail armor.

I thought the only confirmed not-going-there places were the Amazon homeland, that really cool vibrant island concept art) and the Kingdom of Shadow place thats like halfway between heaven and hell, or a portal to hell, or something. Don't remember anything about Xiansai. But I could have missed that. Either way, an Asian place would be sweet.
when taking about the monk homeland one of the devs said only wizards homeland would be in game.

I'm asian and your description is so stereotypical

1) Plenty of asians (expecially males) have long and gaunt faces.
2) Faces are not flat regardless of race and how can a feature be featurelss, doesn't make sense.
3) Wrong, again plenty of asians have high nose bridges.
4) Okay now this is just totally wrong, if anything asians have small-medium lip size.
I agree his description is stereotypical and not all Asians are like that, but my personal experience with Asian people at my college and general area is that practically all Asian have low rooted noses, even if a rare few have long noses they still have low bridged noses. also another feature that is always constant in most Asians is not having deep set eyes.

on another note it seems like they have down played asian like feature on the female wizard on the recent armor set

This is what I think the characters were racially, but first let me explicate my reasoning by explaining my criteria.

white people:
1) long, angular, gaunt & narrow face
2) projecting and prominent facial features
3) high-nose bridge with a pointed nasal tip like a dagger
4) thin lips

Asian people:
1) short, round, plump & broad face
2) flat and featureless facial features
3) low-nose bridge with a rounded nasal tip like a mortar
4) full lips

Note: most of the characters do not fully have all the traits of one category even if I label them as one race.

D1:
-Warrior - white person
-Rogue - white person
-Sorcerer - Asian person
-Monk - Asian person

D2:
-Barbarian - Asian person
-Amazon - white/Asian biracial person
-Sorceress - white person
-Necromancer - white person
-Assassin - white person
-Druid - white person
-Paladin - Asian person

D3:
-Barbarians - Asian people
-Monks - white/Asian biracial people
-Wizards - white/Asian biracial people
-Witch Doctor female - Asian person
-Witch Doctor male - white/Asian biracial person
what makes you think the barbarian and amazon are asian! Is this a joke.

You're thinking way too broad about this "background." For example in D2, the paladin was obviously black. Its true he may not be called "African-American" in Sanctuary, but there IS some sort of ethnicity going on. What would you say the ethnicity of the paladin would be??

And there is no conformity involved. I was just using a general ethnicity that would fit the Wizard. You and I both know that the wizard isn't from Asia, but has some sort of oriental ethnicity. Thats just you being a smartass. Of course the Wizard isn't "Asian" because they're not in "Asia."

Also, the developers of Blizzard had stated that the Monk consisted of some sort of European decent during a presentation at Blizzcon 2009.
Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLDopEL4sPc (around the 4:55 mark)

Finally, Blizzard put in races and genders and such for a reason: DIVERSITY!!!
So the conclusion: the Wizard is of oriental decent.
D2 paladin was not black, in that he didn't have sub Saharan features, In the game he was from Kurast(act III) and if you looked at the NPC of act 3 they were sorta south Asian (Indian) like. that explains his dark skin but generally Caucasian facial features.

this is what i think the characters we know of from the diablo series ethnically:
D1:
-warrior was from west march, where the people generally look European.
-rouge was from khanduras, where people also look European
-sorcerer looks black on the selection screen, but in concept art looks south asian.
D2:
-barbarian was from barbarian land, which is populated by viking/Celtic looking people
-necro was from eastern kingdoms but look european. Note it seems eastern kingdoms are more multiethnic than western kingdoms which are mostly European and middle eastern looking.
-sorceress mostly give a middle eastern vibe and she might be from around lut golein.
-paladin is from Kurast, Indian looking
-amazon from islans to the south of western kingdoms, she looks european.
D3:
-barbarian already done
-witch doctor does look black, and is from jungles in the south of eastern kingdoms.
-monk looks like a mix of russian/middle eastern and buddist clothing.
-wizard looks asian, but in early concept art looked more european, but i guess they decided on asian.
