posted a message on Splash Damage clarification
Hey all, I haven't been able to find information regarding the specifics of how splash damage works. Specifically I understand the mechanics for single target skills but am unaware of how it works with AOE abilities. Lets say for instance a barb using cleave on 5 enemies, is splash damage calculated for every enemy hit provided you get lucky and it procs off every enemy? Each enemy then taking 20% × 4 damage additionally provided you have that much splash damage?

I run mp8 when solo essence farming and mp10 with my friends, I do mp8 simply for how quick things die. Mp10 is much the same for me in terms of not really needing to pay attention (damage mitigation) but it takes noticeably longer to kill

I haven't used warcry in some time now, after above 500ish all resist and 6000 armor it didn't seem as vital. Take that with a grain of salt however as my barb have significantly higher stats than yours at present, passively my barb has 650 all resist and 8000 armor. With the low health your barb currently has I would keep warcry for survivability

honestly drop your current inna's for a high vit one, 180+. You have the dps for mp9 but you have pretty low health as mentioned and it looks like not tremendous amounts of resists, those two will help you survive much better than the few dps you will lose to gain them

Just noticed and again completely up to you but with your resists and armor I would drop warcry for hammer of the ancients. The boost to your single target dps will really help with elites

crafting really is a good investment, as stated above I would look into a good 6 crit IK helm. Outside of that you do have a good defensive stat setup which is nice to see as most barbs are gearing as glass cannons.

As for farming act 1 is pretty good for consistent monster packs/elites, I would start with mp5 and see how quickly you kill things. Depending on how fast/slow elite packs are going down I would adjust accordingly. Not some hard fast rule but I like elite packs to be down in under 15-20 seconds (not counting the kinds that continuously run away) and if I cant manage that I will drop the mp. Obviously the monster power thing is more a personal preference

5% lifesteal is recommended, you go with 3 from just the passive. I'd start there.
What he said, 5% life steal will make a world of difference for your survivability. Also you can stand to have less life so switching to rubies is also a decent plan

For boots either go IK or Ice climbers (needs to have movespeed)

Zuni boots are way cheaper and very good for dps. I have yet to see a pair of ice climbers that offer me better stats than zuni's

Don't know how I missed it but I would alter your build slightly to get rid of overpower and replace it with HoTA smash rune. It works really well to take elite packs down really quick and then switch back to the WW spin for trash packs

All good, no dickery received ;p

Things feel more epic at MP10 but more so for keys have 100% drop chance. Although you're prolly right about doing a bit lower MP and just slap up some XP stuff.

Looked at your profile, and I'm not sure why your not doing mp10. Your DPS and EHP is like way higher than mine and the bonus xp and magic/gold find would be awesome. GZ on paragon 80 btw ;p only 20 more to go ;p

You are also using HotA build but almost the same stats I use, so I'm curious how much XP/hour you're getting?

The build that was on there was my ubers build, I resynced it with my farming build which is your typical WW. Its all good if you like mp10 for the feeling of monsters not just collapsing when touched, I was just thinking in terms of xp/hour. I farm with a really solid group and we do mp8 act 1 runs, each run takes less than an hour and I am getting about 2/3 of a level. We have done mp10 on various occasions but have found we just get way more xp per hour at mp8 or even mp7

After much debating I've decided to go WW. It's just more movement that I'm used to with TR/Bell monk.

Here is my D3Up page for him: http://d3up.com/b/750444

Ok so now that I'm getting the hang of WW again (found out I was not moving enough in a circle to drop tornados) what should I be looking to make it a bit easier in MP10? Most packs I don't got a problem, but some like with pluged/molten + arcane are just destroying me.

Not being a dick but why do you want to play mp10 with your dps? What you need to do to survive mp10 is honestly up your damage considerably so lifesteal becomes a really efficient healing machine. In your position I would stick to lower monster power levels like mp5-7..here is my d3up http://d3up.com/b/315271 and honestly I prefer to farm mp8 because I find mp10 to be too slow even at over 300k dps

    raise those resists to 900+

900+ all resists for a barb would be a bit of overkill and honestly not even worth trying to achieve unless accomplished naturally with insane gear

Very vague but you should be able to survive mp10 just fine with those stats unless there is more to the story...like what you are getting hit by. My stats are 53k health, 5.8% lifesteal, 640 all resist, and 315k unbuffed dps..I can carry mp10 ubers with those stats so you shouldn't be having two shot issues unless you mean just standing there and letting the high damage enemies get free shots

You have nice IAS, i would highly recommend that you switch to life steal Skorn instead dw. With enough IAS (~42%) you will have so much fun with it. Check my build and gear http://eu.battle.net...1/hero/25367099, i had much lower budget than you have now. I am using WW for trash and Smash for elites. Its insanely fun, i just wish i had more gold to buy better LS Skorn. With these stats i am doing MP10 with very few deaths.

Absolutely nothing wrong with DW, its easier to get higher DPS numbers with Skorn but after playing with both set ups I would still side with DW over skorn. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Sheol-1663/hero/1954735 my current set up for MP10 you could always try and copy that gear load out, my advice to Jon would be play with the Skorn build but don't sacrifice too much defense or vit for the sake of DPS.. glass cannon barbs are not the most fun

I'll hold off judgement until it goes live and I have had a chance to mess with it. As it stands I have found 4, only 2 of which were level 60 or up, legendaries since D3 launched across all my characters (currently act 3 farming with 270 MF) in roughly 300 hours played total and 0 set items. Double the chance of .002 or whatever it is still only equates to .004 chance, but I won't complain if I get a green drop
