Thanks fellas. I'm going to be drawing more and more things for this as time goes on. I'm going to be creating better pen sketches for paint, as this is an amazingly fast method. I always think drawing takes me forever, but in reality it's drawing and painting at the same time that takes me forever. I also think I take longer than I usually do... it's an interest and spur of the moment thinking kind of thing.
The round eye mentioned is supposed to be (and hopefully will look like) a spirit orb from the game. Research has told me they're dungeon traps- I don't see why one can't be used to power the golem as an "advanced" dungeon trap. Open a chest and deal with this guy.

The legs are far from final. I'm going over the lines and creating a better silhouette and I don't like how they came out in the pen sketch either. That and his right (to our left) hand.
I probably will expand the lore, but I'm in the midst of trying to work two jobs and create a professional art portfolio. I'll do what I can if I can.
As of the moment my Wacom Intuos 3 bit the dust. Well, pretty much- it's a cord adjustment thing. Luckily I've got a good buddy who "has an extra one" and will allow me use of it for the price of my first-born child.
Updates will be ready... at least by the middle of next week. Hopefully I'll have a lot more to add by then.
Hey guys. I'm from conceptart.org and thought I'd start a post with some of the ideas I have left. Two weeks is plenty of time.
Here's what I started on last night. I like the idea of the creature "Ghostly Orb" generating some awesome golem. Now I need only make him awesome, haha.
Since the Orbs are apparently the magic of magician's past set as a trap guarding treasure I don't see why one magician couldn't somehow have his energy transferred into a huge golem, where he now lives a sort of second life. The orb will glow brighter as I increase the values.
I'm not really trying to go too far into writing the lore thing, but I was interesting in the art aspect of this contest.
Here's where I am. I am probably going to be playing with different ideas and poses and such:

The picture on that site is the highest resolution I could find. I don't imagine there are a lot of high resolution Diablo II images around.
