I like the general idea of this. In addition, I would remove the ability of items to ever roll any of the main stats for at least half the item slots (especially weapon, thus making items less class specific) and put back in the four core stats for Paragon as a means of customization not completely trumped by itemization (D2 style).
I like the idea of needing more str for a 2H weapon or more dext for a shield but as with most other interesting mechanics they were all put in the to difficult box (as in the players are to dumb).
Most likely if I bought the game I'd play a fair bit but at this stage I see what the game could be (check all the fan suggestions) and what it is.
Ultimately making stats dynamic might require some thought when building a char so not a hope they will go for it.
