    Okay. :)

Is May the official announced release date?

No -- They haven't said anything at all themselves, the xpac website states "Coming 2014".

^The different enemies in existing zones is just the loot run feature where the area and enemies are randomized.

Maybe so... but if blizzard was smart they would refresh existing areas to make me actually WANT to start new characters and play through non end game.

It isn't a slap to my face and I play PC. :/

Meh....get back to me next may when RoS still hasn't been released and tell me what you think.

I'm putting my money on a Feb - March release, unless they decide to bundle D3 vanilla and RoS for the next gen versions.

It looks to me like the drastic majority of development work they announced today was paragon and loot 2.0. Both of these being released as a patch -- and at this point should be mostly done.

The only actual new content in RoS (announced) is the Crusader and Act 5. Unless Blizzcon brings about new announcements like a new class, or the Talisman -- there's not enough stuff being released in the xpac to warrant that much of a delay.

Let me be the first to call this:

Blizzard is going to expand/refresh the existing acts in addition to adding an act V. I believe they would do this in order to help with how stale the existing 4 acts have become. I'm not talking a re imagining of Sanctuary akin to WoW's Cataclysm... I simply mean them adding in additional zones and maps to the existing acts.

Think for example about Act 3:
    * We currently only have 2/7 avatars of sin defeated-- This leaves ample room to add several more.
    * When going down the 3 floors you hear the banter (cannot remember which hero/ follower it was for certain but i think it was the enchantress) complaining about how many stairs you've progressed down. Its only 3 Floors... this complaint would be more grounded if the actual distance progressed was longer.

In addition, there has been gameplay videos posted in different areas showing new units in existing zones.

Lastly -- Jay Wilson outright stated that they liked act IV being short... Well... as it is right now ... Its too short. No one ever fucking plays it.

That's still WAY too much money for a 1/4 of a game.

You pay a fourth of the price of an expansion with DLC and get, what, 1/50th of the content?
What DLC you're talking about ?

I paid 50 dollars for 4 acts, 5 classes and x game systems, in a time where i trusted Blizz a lot more then today. and I can't say i'm a happy D3 customer.
I can't see myself or any other of millions people that left D3 disappointed paying 40 dollars for 1/4 of acts, 1/5 of classes and something a lot smaller then x game systems when my trust in Blizz judgement is shaky as hell.

Try to remember that there may not be as much development costs, but they have overhead as this is not a subscription based game. They are also keeping your data indefinitely rather than 90 days or whatever small amount Diablo 2 is.

One can hope that they still have features to announce at blizzco.

I wonder how they will deal with our current profile/characters.

Is the expansion going to reset everything (chars, achievements, etc.) and we will have 2 "separate" games (and choose which we will launch and play, like LoD) or if it will work as an expansion and keep your characters but improve them (similar to MMORPGs).

I was actually hoping that they implemented a big reset option with Loot 2.0 :P as in if you wanna move on to the new patch/expansion, you have to archive everything you previously had.

LoD required new chars didn't it? I thought you had the option to create the character as either xpac or vanilla.

    Quote from Jamoose

I hope this won't turn out to be like that time where they had a "big" announcement and it turned out to be that Hearthstone card game :P

It could be the D3 expansion... But what about the last wow expansion? didn't they say there is going to be another one after MOP? It could also be just information about a big patch like 2.0 for D3 or something.

"Patch 2.0" would actually be the xpac... the leading version number is always 1 + xpac number.

My guess is that they will release loot 2.0 at the same time as the xpac, affecting both vanilla and upgrades. This is what they did with the last sc2 xpac.

Cannot be worse than the whole post ANYTHING over 3 sentences for a beta key deal Diablo fans did. Granted... I got a key out of that.

Qft... this isn't a subscription or even cash item store game, and the extremely large majority of players never use the RMAH.. so don't reference that.

Blizzard has no obligation to give you free DLC.. if you want new content, go bitch on the blizz forums about how you are willing to pay $15 every two months for 5 hours of DLC content.
