posted a message on Goodbye All(my resignation from staff)
Goodbye Silver, I knew you only as a lurker but I'll be sad to see you go anyway. You are a valued member of diablofans.

As for this site losing its charm and going downhill, I mostly disagree with that statement. Though certainly, it's much bigger now and has partially lost the feeling of being a tight community it still does feel like a community (albeit a much larger one)and isn't totally impersonal now as some people imply.

I hope you keep posting here occasionally Silver as we've always appreciated your input. Have a good life.

How many times to I have to say this in the same thread :P

Rares will have (with luck) more powerful stats but they will not be able to have certain unique-only mods.

Looks like I wasn't paying enough attention. This makes sense.

I don't know Seth, maybe people would interpret a signature as a demand for them to return the favour but I don't think I would feel that way. I suppose it could happen though. Maybe the signer should add that they're not expecting rep themselves? Kind of awkward to say that though. Gah, I don't know.

[At Dauroth] Haha, Hugo Weaving playing Duriel, can't see that one. And Bill Roper as Diablo would be very appropriate. Pretty good cast list apart from the jokes though.

Diablo 1 would be a fun experience for you I think even with the outdated graphics. The atmosphere is extremely memorable and if you have any interest in old, medieval Christian views on hell the story will probably be very engaging for you. I know it was for me. Best of luck if you play it and enjoy!

I would encourage people to sign their names when they give rep points. It's always nice to know who's giving the points just for curiosity's sake as this forum's discussion evidences. A comment from the reputation giver explaining why the rep point was given is also a nice touch.

Nice to know. I'm actually hoping that randomized "rare" items will have a chance to be more effective than unique items. That could really prevent the standardizing of weapons that cursed Diablo 2's weapon system.

Toronto, and I still like bish better. Methinks, no one would understand udders despite the lovely picture. And even people who don't understand the bishibosh reference would probably still relate "bish" to "bitch" and the impact of the word wouldn't be lost.

    Of course you're a nice person; you're Canadian! :D
No offense intended; I am Canadian as well.

Haha, I don't think I would've taken offense, I regard that as a compliment. I would ask you where in Canada you're from but that would be off-topic I think.

I honestly like Bish, although I probably won't ever use it. I'm just such a nice person.

I agree with one of the original poster's gripes, games without any soul but try to make up for it with a huge number of things to do. Oblivion is to me the prime example of this. Loads of stuff to do but no matter what I did it was never satisfying because the storytelling was so weak and the atmosphere was oh so bland.

It's predecessor Morrowind in my opinion succeeded in maintining some kind of soul and interest while still giving you plenty to do (even more than Oblivion I found). And with the highly active modding community that Morrwind has, the game's constantly improving. I love it.

If only Oblivion had been able to maintain that kind of excellence, I would have been one happy gamer.

posted a message on Frightening Sanctuary
Nice article, although I would probably say that every area in Diablo had it's own brand of scariness though the catacombs on a whole were probably the most frightening. I probably would've talked about them more than the dungeons.

I would also nominate those swamp dungeons from act 3 for a mention. Nothing in Diablo 2 ever induced the same fear as the places from Diablo but these dungeons were suitably dark and prison-like. Speaking of prisons, maybe the jails from the Monastery should get a runner up position too. They were very well done.

Some funny nouns going on in there (nosferatu of the most devilish kind hmmm?) but I appreciate the chance for this discussion. Oh, and I'm loving the new avatar Seth although I'll miss the cuter hamster of before. Still this one's more Diablo-like.

I saw a bit of it. I'm not a fan of hockey or figure skating but my parents were watching it one night so I decided to watch along with them. Whatever episode was on was enough for me too. It was okay I guess, but really just a novelty sort of show.

I'm a sucker for nostalgia. I cant even drive past my old highschool without rubber necking over. I've nearly hit the car in front me of like 3 times now

I hear you my friend. Some people say that nostalgia is a negative emotion which induces counterproductivity and over-idealization of the past but I think that in small doses, it's very beautiful. I too go back to my old schools and neighbourhoods to sigh about the good old days.

See above, although I think Bashiok or someone said that this is the last installment.

Last installment eh? That sounds good to me. If I don't completely like the direction Diablo has been pulled in since Diablo 2, I imagine that by Diablo 4 I'd be tearing my hair out. When I've finished with Diablo 3 I think I'll be ready to move on to something new. All good things must come to an end.
