If you're happy with crappy legendaries, then yes, the gear will cease to satisfy you rather quickly. If you are seeking optimization, then you will continue the hunt for quite a long while.
I've been in the clan for a few weeks now and just want to say it is a great bunch of people. I was very late to the season and still managed to get the portrait frame thanks to the generosity of several <Dfans> members (shout out to yso and LordRyche). I've grouped with several people on my non-seasonal character, and always have a good time! (ksw, gosupa, Justin, seanh, aboveone, Dizzy et al)
There does seem to be a bit of a disconnect between seasonal/non-seasonal players, a suggestion (feel free to reject it outright) would be to have two Dfans groups, one seasonal and one non-seasonal. I know other clans do this, and if the current clan is full that would free up a ton of room.
Looking to join the NA clan, Stealpulse#1955. Played for about one year after release, just now getting back into the game. Two weeks back and I'm really enjoying the drastic changes to the game. Rifts!!
Before I took my long break from the game, I had hit Paragon lvl 27 running Halls of Agony WAAAAAY too many times.

To me the end-game is seeing how high you can get in the GR's. Incremental improvements in gear and builds serves to meet that goal.
Try HC as one of the other posters suggested, it's not for me personally but I bet it removes a large percentage of "making the hunt too easy".
