posted a message on Beta-Testers... stop playing

I already stopped. Was not particularly impressed or entertained to push myself through very limited content. Meets my expectations exactly as they were, but that wasn't that high. Core issues I expected are true, things that annoys me are true as well.

You might just get a spot because of me.

    Don't thank me.

If you're willing sometime, I'd appreciate a critical review of the beta. I usually agreed with some of your posts and it'd be nice to hear what you think works and what you think doesn't work in the beta.

I think things that have been said feels true, the health orb system is better than the potion system from D2 by a large margin, but it still feels unsatisfactory at times. Beating up hordes of weak monsters can get to the point of silly because of how many orbs they can drop, and then you mess up in a smaller encounter and you're out of precious life.

Its really nice that you actually have to take care of what you're doing and try and approach things with a little thought, mind you. The combat flows well and you always have potions for backup healing. I actually died early in the game not realizing that exploding worm guy hurts like HELL when he dies. Thats the fun part.

The biggest problem I had is the absolutely underwhelming feeling of leveling up. It just doesn't feel right. You get almost nothing, a few attributes go up in some unnoticeable fashion. All you do get are skills that unlock, and you have no choices to make, nothing to care about. You don't feel like you're creating a character at all, which is a BIG downer for me, personally. I feel like I'm playing a Barbarian that isn't really mine, if that makes sense.

A general complaint of the beta for me is just that they didn't include some of the most important things in the game for a fair judgement, such as runes. That might save the customization part, but I can't know yet.

I have also not had much interest at all in items I found so far, but again, super early game, I can't expect more.

I think its good, its entertaining, I doubt its a flawles gem and it certainly doesn't bring anything particularily new, but I think any fans of the Diablo games will enjoy beating the crap out of stuff in this one, because the feeling, while exaggerated in general, is very nice.

I might not have been particularly impressed, but I'd still like to buy it, which I won't, for non-gameplay related reasons. With friends, it should be a blast, but forget about D2 depth and replay value, I would think. As expected.

posted a message on No Mod Support for Diablo 3
Its funny how Bashiok's statement disregard the fact that your new Diablo game has switched genre to MMO. Silly you, didn't notice? Your previous games did not support modding, but allowed it, and from it many things grew, like so many other games have modding communities growing in the dark and every single peasant would not have the faintest clue as to how much of an impact and a difference all this modding in any game has done, how many people it brought in to new things, and how many ideas it brought to life. No, you just have these people bashing modding, instead. Beautiful.

I don't really care what they come up with, Diablo has switched genre and has such, does not allow modding. (don't bother me with UI "mods", why are they even called mods is beyond me).

And the genre switch is really the whole travesty here.

posted a message on Wallstreet September 17th, 2011
Can't help but constantly feel that Anonymous is some sad bunch of young people that have no clue what they're doing, or what they're playing with. But maybe not.

This isn't my fight, I don't even know about Wallstreet. I'm interested to see what will actually happen, if anything will, and I'd be glad if it did make a difference in the grand scheme of things.

But I hope nobody here actually believes they can end any and all abuse without violence. No matter your claims of non violence, no change will come without pain.

It's really funny how people think they will actually make good cash playing D3.

    This.

Get a clue. What happens when a ton of people (in the hundreds of thousands) want to make money off of the same thing... at the same time?

They all get rich of course!... Right?...

And its really funny too how a ton of people are just spitting Blizzard's excuse for this.

    posted a message on Incgamers
    Quote from CherubDown

I started frequenting Incgamers and at first I enjoyed the information, but I soon realized that the site admin, Flux, and a lot (not all) of the people there are very, very jaded about Diablo 3 and the new changes, and they constantly bash Blizzard and Activision. It's not only really distracting from the actual news that's important, but it's also in extremely bad taste. Almost every article I read now pisses me off in one way or another, so I stopped going altogether.

Also, the people here are (generally) a lot more accepting and conversational. The staff here are really friendly and I can actually rely on everything that's stated in the news section to be almost 100% accurate. Not to mention the Curse servers are a helluva lot more stable.
    So, wait.

One place is actually stating the truth and that annoys you?

While DiabloFans seems to lie in Blizzard's shadow, trying to please them in any way they can and defending them at every turn.

You find some negativity ridiculous, but I find the sheer amount of positivity here even worse. I'd rather not every place be ran by fanboys like this one.

If speaking out doesn't change the company, it still has a better impact than remaining silent. I don't want all future games to apply this model and to kill offline, game freedom, and modding. So there's no way I'd shut up about it.

I have no problem with you voicing your opinion but even this small poll puts you in a small minority. I just don't see how Blizzard could considering upping their sales by 5% at a cost of losing possibly that same percent, maybe less though it would be worth mentioning that games are pirated in the millions when possible.

Now I know it may also be worth noting that if people like the game they may go and purchase a legitimate copy but most businesses don't agree with this model. In the end your point is valid and accepted but I think no matter how vocal you are their business model likely doesn't see a great rise in sales because of it.
I could care less about their sales, though. Good developpers promote their games and what their customers can do above their profit. But I'm not trying to get into that silly "but its a business" argument since the entire problem I have with this is based on the fact that they indeed ARE a business and act like most business. I mean, who cares if they lose a small percentage of profit at worse for making all their customers happy? But apparently, its insane to think companies care about you. They only care about profit. And that is assuming it would cause a loss.

Also, I really don't think the percentage of people is as low as a fan forum where people just love Blizzard would dictate. Thats just the nature of those forums.

posted a message on What do you do when you're about to rage at people's stupid flawed D3 criticism?
Funny, I feel like punching holes at the sheer sheep'idity of this place.

This place has grown into a realm of fanboy and I guess that was to be expected. Oh, I'm sure there are plenty of dumb arguments as well against all the evil stuff Blizzard has done, but its still evil.

But don't think I'm taking this fight seriously anymore, everything that had to be said has been said. You take the stance you think is right and I'll keep mine. People should stop trying to change the mind of people unwilling to see the truth. And you can laugh and think that way about the haters if you're so inclined. This fighting goes nowhere. My next vote is with my wallet.

Not to mention that this noticably reduces the size of the game on your computer. Not by like 50% or anything, but still, anything to make the game more accessible to lower end computers is good for the business aspect.
...Well, thats what I call food for the fools.

The game's size will hardly matter. A 8 years old computer has a 80 gb hard drive and nothing is that small anymore, even for low end computer. And the very small amount you will lose (no, it won't even be 1%, keeping all the sizable stuff away such as graphics would be a giant drain on their servers) will not change anything.

If you want to get more substance, read more of my posts elsewhere. I have no intention to explain why I'm tired of this community's blindness and carelessness over all the moves that are made -against- them.
