I would not be surprised to see the bosses in D3 to have one or a couple of items specific to them, but have the rest of their loot table completely randomized.

This would continue the trend of farming specific bosses, and hopefully get rid of the "only farm this boss because it's the fastest/easiest" (I don't care that you want to farm mephisto, i want to farm baal, dammit!). It would also allow for surprises from loot drops and would be in the spirit of the classic D3 randomization.

I'm going to go with the more optimistic here and say they're about 60-70% done. Keep in mind they've been in production for greater than 3 years now. The average development cycle for Blizzard games is 4-5 years. Despite them changing their art direction a few times (as mentioned by blue posts) that doesn't mean during that time they can't lay down the code foundation, mechanics, dialogue, sound effects, etc.

In game design, often the game engine and code is laid out before any art assets go in. Programmers put in filler images until the artists are complete. You could follow that and assume most art assets are simply swappable making their development cycle virtually unhindered while they wait for the art team to nail down a suitable art direction for D3.

That's not to say they haven't had their hiccups. But, I think, despite all of their setbacks during development, they are probably further along than we perceive.

A few screenshots and web pages do little justice in showing us just how far they are. Rather, look at their track record for average development cycle, and then compare that with how long they mentioned they've already been working on the game.

"Greater than 3 years" means this year will complete 4 years, and next year is 5, pinning a 2010 release. Sounds about right.

The only reason why Apple is so popular is that Steve Jobs spends every waking minute shoving his damn advertising down our throats. Four year olds want one and they don't even know what the hell an iPod is. I know this because this happened to one of my dad's friends. Her four year old daughter comes up to her and says:

    "I want an iPod!" :cute:

Sure, any device looks cool if you have ridiculous commercials, dancing people, and sexy design, but you have to remember... sh*t gets outdated, and soon Apple will fall victim to their continous recycling pattern. For example:

Take the iPod 2g and puit it next to the iPod 3g. What has changed? Hardly anything, just the design and a whole bunch of crap you hardly even care about, you just bought a brand name because it's "trendy".

But anyway, congrats on your iPhone.

You're talking about marketing in general, not just the iPhone. Every company does that, for everything they're trying to sell. Why do you think 12 year old girls are wearing make-up? Because the pretty lady on the moving picture tube are telling them that they want make-up.

That's why 2nd hand gaming stores (like Gamestop) thrive. They can re-sell used games, games that are impossible to find.

And sadly only for $5.00 less than the non-used copy.

If you're Canadian and live in the Vancouver area, which you don't, you could check out NCIX. I don't know if they deliver to US residents, but you can check it out on their website.

You can probably identify them by their teeth via security camera stills.

It's what police do when human corpses are burnt or rotted beyond recognition. Teeth can survive anything.

    I'm back playing WoW.

Recently switched from my Rogue to my Death Knight. It's still a good game.

I've been playing the game since 2004 release, and I don't understand how people say they messed up the raiding. On the other hand, the PVP I do agree with. I'm not a fan of Arena matches, and BGs are diminished in importance, unfortunately. The raiding is better than ever though.

posted a message on A Levelling System.
On my old WoW forums back in 2004 they had an "experience point" system where, based on different things like creating topics that become 'hot' or popular; getting a thread stickied; reporting posts, or people; etc, would gain you experience. You could then level up. Every 10 levels your avatar would update with a new graphic, giving you more armor in appearance, and just a more badass look in general. Your avatar would change based on what race/class you were.

But that was a long time ago. We had an administrator that was a phpnuke genius, he did all the necessary coding/scripts himself. The forums are no longer around.

Your Predator 2 quote did not go wasted, I assure you.

I think you bring up an interesting point about what happens after death though

In Diablo II when you die and watch the screen, the monsters just run around in random patterns... it would be much more interesting if they defiled your body in some manner

    Like... teabagging?

It's hard to call it a trend when so far we've only seen about 5% of the game.

This seems like something that would be most effective on boss fights. Remember we can't suck back potions anymore, and considering the barbarian is taking damage 100% of the time at the front lines (as opposed to casters who sit back and fire away unharmed in a party setting)... yeah. He's going to need something.

And don't even mention the red health orbs, that only appear after a creature is killed.

You have to stand toe to toe with a boss for a couple of minutes at least, assuming he has no minions to kill, you'll be going a while without any health recovery.
