If you read the Sin War trilogy...

    ---- INCOMING SPOILERS -----

Neither Heaven nor Hell can really "win". Trag'Oul and the students he has at this point in the story would see to that, for it is the nature of their existence to maintain the Balance.

What a clever plot device to ensure the continuous release of Diablo games for generations to come. :P

posted a message on Under-rated / commonly wanted class
    I want monk.

While I do enjoy the giant muscle bound 2 handed swords apes every now and then, my staple in most games is the agile "I can totally kick your ass but can't take very much damage" character. For D2 that appears to be the monk.

In WoW, it was the Rogue.

    So on and so forth.

    Gimme monk!

posted a message on Diablo 3 story line going to be EPIC!!
Cain may be something supernatural in disguise.

Do you guys recall D2 when you free him from burning Tristram? Notice how everyone was dead, except him? He just so happened to be the only one in tristram that they bothered to capture instead of murder on sight, and it just so happened that the heroes arrived just in time to save him.

Isn't it funny how he's the only npc that has survived all 3 games? Given his state and frailty, you'd think he would be one of the first to fall victim to the demonic onslaught.

I'm just saying, after reading the Sin War trilogy, i don't trust anyone anymore. Demons and angels changing form at will, WHO KNOWS WHO ANYONE IS!!!!! /crazy

And that's my conspiracy theory. Roll with it.

So I asked this question a few months ago so that my signature would fade into the background, but you guys did this "upgrade" thing which changed the color of the background.

Would one of you moderators please be kind enough to give me the RGB of the new background color? :)

posted a message on Vid Cards a big screw up.
I play WoW with an ATI 4850. My game runs better than my gf's who plays with an nVidia card. We bought ours at the same time, I don't remember what card she uses but I know it's the equivalent of my ATI card.

Personally I think this is a silly thing to be worried about. Regardless of what graphics card or processor company logo you see on the box, the game will run worse/better or be more/less optimized depending on dozens of factors, not just what card or processor you use. Your entire PC setup will affect your game performance, right down to your RAM and HD speed, even to what ridiculously flamboyant processes you have running in the background.

    This is marketing bullshit.

The majority of software companies optimize their games to run well enough on both. Sometimes ATI will turn out better, sometimes nVidia will turn out better. It depends on the game and your complete hardware setup.

I have been an ATI/amd fan for years, but I will be switching over to nVidia and Intel soon; I find their processor/gpu run much cooler than ati/amd. To me that's more important than raw processing or graphic horsepower - since these days the differences are negligible when you're not playing FPS games that require 400 frames per second.

posted a message on Why Blizzard Could Soon Return to Game Consoles.
I guess people forgot that Diablo 1 was ported to Playstation 1. It played just fine. Diablo to consoles is not a stretch by any means.

RTS like Warcraft or Starcraft however, is another matter entirely. RTS games do not have a positive history on consoles, most notably due to the control scheme and interface.

posted a message on new Halo game
    I'm getting it.

I'm not into the halo hype, but I do enjoy the games. The campaign more so than the multiplayer. Although, I do play ranked games with my brother from time to time.

I hear ODST is supposed to have a darker feel to it than the main Halo series. The recent live action trailer certainly has that vibe.

Kotaku has the extended cut running almost 1 minute longer.

posted a message on Will Diablo be in Diablo3?
Diablo will be in the game.

It's no different than someone asking 2 years ago, "Will the Barbarian make a return as a playable character?"

"We have not yet announced if the Barbarian will make a return in Diablo 3."

It's a pretty neutral statement, that in between the lines says, "We already know what's going to happen but we're not ready to reveal anything yet."

posted a message on Assuming 'Cataclysm' rumors are true
They're not upgrading Azeroth to current standards. They're completely changing the face of Azeroth of how it looks, and how it's going to play. Imagine it being a completely fresh experience from 1-58.

Also, the current expansions, Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, are 1/2 the size of vanilla WoW in terms of land mass, and much much smaller in terms of content.

If you think redesigning vanilla WoW is a paltry task, you'd be grossly mistaken. It is a pretty large undertaking for a single expansion.

Also the class openings coming to different races is pretty controversial. There's a lot standing in the way, Lore-wise. So far they are just rumors, and people are already flying off the handle about it. I would say, that is also bold.

When Blizzcon hits a few days we will see what is what. I'm sure there will be some surprises that haven't yet been leaked, if the leaked info is to be believed.

posted a message on My Return to WoW
Their next MMO is going to cater to all the people who left WoW for various reasons.

How else could they recapture the audience they lost, without impacting the monthly sales of WoW subscriptions?

It's the smartest move they could ever make.

About some of the comments above. People are funny. It's the stupidity of the mind. Years ago the largest complaint was that blizzard was developing raid content that only a small percentage of the WoW player base could play, because of the difficulty and time commitment involved. So Blizzard fixed that by making raids more accessible to the general masses. Easier encounters, shorter raids, smaller groups required. And now the complaint is that the game is too easy, and people are getting bored. Lol. Ridiculous. A lot of people don't really know what they want, they can only grasp what makes them dissatisfied, not looking beyond their own selfish heart to see that the other side of the spectrum won't make them any more satisfied.... until of course the other side of the spectrum comes to be, and they find themselves still not pleased.

Making raids more accessible was the best thing they ever did to the game. Finally I don't have to waste away my life to see the raid content and story of all the top tiers. I don't have to join a guild and deal with high-school drama and popularity politics. I can join a PUG and still see absolutley every raid content available. Amen to that. All it takes is a few hours per day, a few days per week. I have the freedom to go out and do other things when I'm finished, or take a night off from raiding and not worry about losing raid spot priority in my "hardcore" raiding guild, or missing out on dkp.

Difficulty still exists in the game. Server firsts are still around. Elite raiding guilds are still around. And now you have even new avenues to flaunt how elite you are. You have proof in achievements. You have new, elite gear awarded to those capable of completing the hard modes in raids.

posted a message on Assuming 'Cataclysm' rumors are true
The rumors also state that they plan to completely streamline the 1-58 levels in vanilla WoW.

What you can translate this into is that it will be much quicker to level, and as such, you won't need to visit as many zones / do as many quests as previously. This gives Blizzard room for revamping a few old zones for 80+ content, plus including the previously unreleased zones for 80+ content. That should be enough to get us to level 85, the supposed new level cap.

Secondly, they plan to rework and design the old zones due to the Cataclysm. This gives a fresh experience to anyone rerolling, or coming back to the game from a long absence.

They could also implement phasing, as they did in WotLK. For those who don't know what phasing is: the zone appears differently to different players, depending upon where you are in the quests / story. Phasing happens in real time - it is not instanced and there are no loading times.

In a previous interview this year, Metzen (creative VP at Blizzard) was asked what their plans were for the next expansion: "Unbelievable boldness" was his reply.

This seems pretty bold to me.

Plus flying mounts in Azeroth, about freakin time.

Couldn't care less about the classes being opened up to different races as I'm pretty happy with my Human DK, but it's still a neat feature. I had always wanted a Blood Elf Warrior, but now it's a little late.

If you look at the expansions so far:

Burning Crusade: Two New Races, No New Classes
Wrath of the Lich King: No New Races, One New Class
Cataclysm: Two New Races, No New Classes

It's for sure, following a pattern. A new class (or two maybe) the next NEXT expansion.

posted a message on [Books] The Wheel of Time
I started reading it back in high school, recommended to me by my friend. It's an amazing epic. I have also read The Lord of the Rings books, and Wheel of Time is, in my opinion, much better. I stopped reading the books at around number 6. I plan to pick it up again sometime in the future but right now I have too much on my plate. Mostly gaming.

If you could get someone as passionate as Peter Jackson to work on the Wheel of Time movies, it would be incredible. You would also need a solid production studio behind the project.
