Went for the same style that the crusaders mentor was wearing. Also, classic and sturdy!

I am trying PoE too. If D3 does not change alot, I will switch in a matter of time. Its hard to transition if you have nothing in PoE and played ~600hrs+ D3.
But I just can't play D3 anymore. Every patch motivates me like 2 weeks and then I get bored again.

Don't take this the wrong way but what is with this near-zealous obsession people have with sticking to a single game and basically forcing themselves to play it? It's ok to stop playing something and pick up another game/hobby. You're not going to get a gold star by some ARPG faerie for playing 24 months of uninterrupted diablo3.

    Just.. stop playing? *shrugs*

I hope you all realize that the concept of "races" in d3 would only end up being a rarely-changing list of whoever 100 streamers feel like doing the most 'work' that particular race. It would have nothing to do with players who do not consider playing the latest flavor-of-the-month game a job. Races in d3 would essentially be pandering to the vlogger crowd and leave regular filthy casuals hopelessly behind.

Sure, D2 ladders were equally pointless in that you generally had the crazies that rushed to 99 but that was before everyone and their mother with a webcam and a half-decent internet hookup realized they could earn a living from youtube ads and donations.

I'm tripping over myself trying to figure out what new information was uncovered in this discussion between krip & alk?
All I heard was a whole lot of "d3 sucks screw casuals" and not a whole lot constructive talk. Surely for such hardcore gaming aficionados there would be a whole slew of in-depth under-the-hood work and investigation to find an optimal route to improving upon D3? Well, except their already stated "fix the end" and "copy everything from PoE".

The truth is that controversy sells. This is why they're casually dropping in topics like this. More controversy and bad-mouthing of game X, the more people Y that like game X will be incensed by them and give them free publicity.

Does D3 need more work? Absolutely, just like D2 needed quite a bit of work to go from d2:vanilla to d2:lod. Although, the ah/rmah debacle seems an insurmountable obstacle. :(

Memorize where the game throws scripted enemy spawns at you, such as the Khasim Outpost in act 2 and the times you get ambushed by snakes on Belial's platform. Act3 beginning is also a classic spot where you can die easily because you get swarmed by mobs that run down the stairs according to their script. Never get any grand ideas that your toon will live forever, he/she WILL DIE. It's inevitable.

meh why premade tags? would be nicer to browse a list with gamenames(that you typed)... anyway looks good, doubt im comming back just yet tho, we'll see what else next patch has in store

Because people would instantly use the tag-system to spout/spam profanity CoD-style. Never underestimate the average internet mouth-breathers capacity to be a total shit-stain.

How about a new feature that would let the player soulbind items to their toon. The process would make the item bound to the character or account. Once bound, the item could begin acquire exp, like the materia system in FFVII. Each item could have a single unique bonus affix that would level up like paragon levels as you gain xp with the item equipped. These item affixes would only show up as part of the soulbound thing. There would be an npc (mystic) that would assist with soulbinding/unbinding items. They would also allow you to change what affix your soulbound item currently has. Changing the affix could be done for free, but would reset the item back to 0 xp.

Once you put up a soulbound item on the AH, a warning is shown and the item is displayed with it's base stats and if it sells it's stripped of its stats and no longer bound. The new buyer has to soulbind it to his own toon in order to start earning xp.

I'm not giving D3 some free pass on gameplay up to now, but I honestly don't see why people are raving so much about PoE.
I tried it and is has some real issues for sure. The combat is clunky is sluggish, the camera is locked into a specific zoom level (in itself not a bad thing but it's way too zoomed in). The super-open skill tree looks pretty amazing at first but it really locks itself into specific builds very quickly. Just like D3 you can build super stupid builds with pathetic synergies but as soon as you want synergy between your skills you're locked down hard.

How about taking the discussion into the direction of "money aren't real either anymore!" which should prove for some entertainment :)

Money is an abstract thing we invented because it was too bothersome to trade using chickens and valuable stones. No banks actually have all the money people have entrusted with them in the vault. It's mostly virtual currency, worth what we say it's worth. Sure there are cash and coins in circulation but everywhere I go we are encouraged to not pay cash and use our cards/digital payments.

"Diablo 1 had a fairly exciting Skill selection"

    You're kidding, right?

Max chain lightning, max fireball, max teleport, max golem if you were feeling extra scared. Spam that staff of Apocalypse that you ran and refreshed Aria 5000 times for. The only thing exciting about D1 was the zombies that would permanently drop your max life score if they hit you and even that got exploited by sorcerers who used a super low life + mana shield to become immune to stunlock from when you get hit and go into hit-recovery animation mode.

I agree that D3 has some growing pains and needs more adjusting before it's just right but please do take off the rose-tinted glasses before you compare it to d1/d2.
