Quote fromwoot? sorcs used to be really great even before synergies.. bone necs were a bit weak but they were still strong in pvp.. javazons were powerful. Hammerdins didn't work in LOD iirc but in Classic they were the strongest option for a paladin.
There was more build options than now.. with synergies yes you have to put so many points to useless skills, just to make your main skill powerful enough to kill someting in Hell.
Back then you could make dual and tri tree sorcs easily and they were quite powerful in Hell, nowadays you need to have kickass gear to make dual tree work good in hell. Also many other paladin builds than hammerdin were really good (zeal, vengeance etc)
which is all the cause of strengthening all the monsters XD
all they did was make them too strong
and since some of them cant even be stunned its just annoying x3
i mean sure some classes can beat them
just not many builds can without pretty much the best equipment in the game xD
most who rely on summoning will prob need hacked charms to make them anywhere near strong enough to work in hell
i mean i dont even think they even looked at the hell stats when they implemented them
a hell zombie and quill rat has pretty much similar stats to prime evils from the past difficulties
but they come in huge numbers
just prime evils have more resistances so the zombies die a lot faster
unless you equip your merc with a runeword mercs are just downright useless
so ya i think they just over estimated how strong synergies were gonna be
but synergies themselves are fine
the flaw is with the actual skills themselves
i think the amazon just doesnt have too many crazy damaging skills like the other classes have
they need to also fix the att rating big time
most of the time even if the % hit is like 85% itll still miss the later enemies in nightmare difficulty like 10 times in a row and then finally get maybe one hit
that is for melee chars
so if they fix all those i dont see how synergies could be a bad thing
all synergies do is make it so you arent keep your skills at lvl 1 until your lvl 30 or 24 xD
if they took that out in D2 it wouldnt be all that fun for me
actually the only reason i still play it is cuz synergies changed the game from before =3
go team synergy! xD

I hope they tone down the uniques in Diablo 3 so the game isn't just about farming items like Diablo 2 runewords. I like it better when the better items in the game are randomly generated attributes on strong items. Not looking for a specific item that adds the max to every stat possible in the game.
I'd like to say that theres probably a good amount of people who play both PvP and PvE. More probably play PvE, but I don't believe PvP is that far beyond at all. A lot of people just like farming Baal 300 times before they make PvP games and characters. The PvP option along with mods is probably what kept the game going so long to begin with. Since it gives the PvE players a goal to work toward. If there was no PvP then I believe a good half of the people wouldn't even bother with Diablo 2 and play WoW or something.

Call of Duty is also the most popular genre in video games by far. Diablo 3 is the best of its genre, but not that popular of a genre. The difficulty to get the game will prevent a lot of younger people from even trying. Especially if they already have a game they like.
Its only hope is if they play the beta or a demo. The action oriented changes to the game will probably make just about anyone like the game if they try it. I just don't believe anyone is gonna try it until someone recommends it to them. When I was in high school and middle school, very few people I went to school with played Blizzard games. I had to get people into it for them to start. I just don't believe that since it's not as impacting on kids now, as it was in the past. That it gives them a reason to randomly buy it on release day to chance it sucking.
Kids will buy a shooter game in the blink of an eye because they are relatively easy to play and get into. They won't buy a game that someone explains to them is going to need thinking to beat the game. As great as an impact Diablo 3 is gonna have. I just don't see it breaking many records in sales in the beginning. Especially by how many people are complaining about features they dislike about the game. That might cause people to not buy it right away and let their friend buy it instead for an in depth demo.
Basically what games that break records now have that Diablo series doesn't. Is a name with the current gaming youth. It will just be viewed as an old game that used to be popular, rather than a potential buy. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for kids to buy Diablo 3 when it comes out. Unless an older gamer introduces it to them.

However, both the PvP and PvE in Diablo 3 are revamped big time. Complete system changes in both categories. I can actually see Diablo 3 being highly competitive and highly Coop based. I will probably play it mostly for the Coop though. As the gap it will fill for me is a fun Coop RPG.

I like having my games all virtually. I can then access them from any computer i ever buy without changing cds and such. Plus theres the chance that they release a new format of CD my computer wouldn't support therefore. Just thinking for tech changes.
More convenient too, since I get to play it without waiting in line.

Other possibilities could be Lochdanon's cursed form and Lazurus. Obviously the entire game isn't gonna be in the cathedral, so maybe 1 or 2 more of the old enemies could return after the skeleton king. I think they redid the entire cathedral too. So you could argue they passed the butcher already. But the structure of the first third of the game, really doesn't represent what it looked like in Diablo 1 at all. Nor is it impossible for him to move his little meat house somewhere else.
I think they would bring him back. They made a reference to him in Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne because he was so famous. By their humor they just would bring him back XD.

Which many people seem to need TBH. =3
You should post it in the Diablo 3 forums if you haven't already.
I can do it for you in the event you have no access. I have Sc2 =3

My opinion on Skill Tree equals I don't put points into spells i don't like. I respec at a level where I can personalize the build and finalize it. However get screwed over when I see an immune enemy and either got to restart the game, or run by him.
With this new system I don't have to worry about builds at all. I can just use whatever skills I want at any time. Which was something similar to Diablo 1, that I believe was done better than in Diablo 2. The immunity system this ties to was much, much better in Diablo 1 than in 2.
Modifications do extend the life of some games, but Diablo was never one of those games. Theres a reason Blizzard still does regular Ladder resets. Sure some mods are pretty cool, but none of them are really superior to the original game. A lot of them are only successful because of people beating the game 100 times already. They wanted something more since it's taking 10 years for the sequel lol.
UI mods are totally something new and WoW exclusive. Mods were usually thought of from Unreal Tournament, therefore just thought of things that change the game. Which is true but UI mods are different in that it gives unfair advantages.
If the UI and game content are good enough to play to full efficiency from the beginning. Then you never need to change them since they are good enough to play the game with. They could also leave a little customization in the options menu in case of some debatable things.
Identifying is a rather odd system, but understandable. Maybe they'll increase the cost of Identifying when you run out of scrolls. Either way the unidentified items have their own gamble market. People can just farm them to sell if they wanted.
Someone mentioned graphics so my opinion on those is simply, they are important for drawing people to Diablo 3. Especially console gamers. I have confidence that their graphics are good enough though. Force and Day 9's playthroughs both made special note to the crazy detail on the highest beta settings. When Ultra is released it may just blow some pretty detailed shooters out of the water.
Since they removed some older systems from the game already. Their graphics should be good because it gave them more time in that category. Whatever lacks in graphics will be made up in gameplay.
Story and Lore would be next, but those aren't exactly areas you can criticize in like other areas. Any writing is good so long as people are interested. So far of what the journals say, the story is good so far. Blizzard never had Lore issues with any of their games. Warcraft 2's stories being some of my favorites lol.
My only concern is what they define as difficult for hell and inferno difficulties. Blizzard isn't the same company it was when Diablo 2 was made. Hence their changes to the skill tree system, and the fact that their definition of difficulty probably changed since Blizzard North. I'd assume Immunities are not going to be a problem. The system is probably going to be most like Diablo 1 when it comes to immunities.
Meaning some enemies might have 1 or even 2 immunities naturally. But the classes will be balanced in that they can always deal with it. The way Diablo 1 handled it, there were 3 types of spells. Every enemy in Hell difficulty had 1 or 2 immunities. You would then use a spell to counter the weakness. It might even be easier in Diablo 3.
A more detailed statement about this would be. I hope the game is not hard for stupid, unfun reasons. Knowing Blizzard I'm probably gonna be fine with their choices in the end though.
The potions look even better than in Diablo 2 to me. A little more detail I think.
The character select screens are a little worse. But because of the engine increase they don't want the menus to be something hard to load for all computer systems. Since Diablo 2 used some systems akin to flash. It was easy to setup, but in Diablo 3 they just hope you spend so little time in the menus. That you don't care about the lack of character selection screens.

Whereas Warcraft lost in popularity to Starcraft, so they changed the series a little. They might remake Warcraft back into an rts in the future though.
Overall its just a bad business choice right now. Due to the way Blizzard makes games, they will never release a truly bad game. So if Diablo 4 fails isn't even an option because they scrap the games that they can't make fun.

I mean Hellfire was one of the biggest mods in Diablo 1 history XD. Nor was it supported at all by Blizzard. They will only ban your account for modding if they ever see it in an online game. SC2 had the feature to create single player games if you went under the single player tab and hit go offline.
Other than that, its prob not supported as they will prob ban you.
Basically they don't support it, and you could probably be banned for it. If they don't allow singleplayer games as in SC2 then they downright are against mods.
TBH they are trying to make Diablo 3 a game that will last 10 years without mods. So I personally care for them naught.
