posted a message on Magic Find, How Does It Work? Time for a Revamp?
It works as follows (or very close to it):
    • When a monster is slain, there is a roll determining whether there is an item drop or not. (MF is not in consideration here)
    • Next up. If there is a roll positive for an item drop, it is determined whether the drop is an item, gold, potion, gem, tome etc. (still no MF check in this roll)
    • If the drop turns out to consist of an item, then the item will go through a checklist of possible rolls. The checklist is always in the same order; legendary -> rare -> white -> gray, and the roll is conducted with respect to that. So if the roll turns out to be a legendary item quality, then the item will drop as a legendary, but if not, the roll will determine if it is a 6 property rare and so forth until the item can only be gray of quality. This roll is affected by MF - and now three different setups to illustrate this:
    • at 0% MF, the chance for the item rolling as a (using made up numbers)
      • Legendary: 0,000001 [ chance' = chance * (1 + MF) ]
      • 6-affix rare: 0,00001
      • 5-affix rare: 0,0001
      • 4-affix rare: 0,001
      • blue: 0,01
      • empowered white: 0,05
      • white: 0,1
      • gray: 1
    • at 150% MF, the chance for the item rolling as a (using made up numbers)
      • Legendary: 0,0000025
      • 6-affix rare: 0,000025
      • 5-affix rare: 0,00025
      • 4-affix rare: 0,0025
      • blue: 0,025
      • empowered white: 0,125
      • white: 0,25
      • gray: 1
    • at 300% MF, the chance for the item rolling as a (using made up numbers)
      • Legendary: 0,000004
      • 6-affix rare: 0,00004
      • 5-affix rare: 0,0004
      • 4-affix rare: 0,004
      • blue: 0,04
      • empowered white: 0,2
      • white: 0,4
      • gray: 1
This means that MF affects the quality of the drop once the drop has been granted. Also given high MF more loot is not dropped, nor does high MF affect the types affixes and their range - that's RNG I suppose. This is all explained in the earlier posts as well.. and in the post Bagstone refers to.

EDIT: Of course I forgot to mention that the drop chances are purely fictional... made up from thin air.. voila!

Couldn't come at a worse time, pretty much.. About 9 days after release, I have to turn in this major project that I've been working on since 1st of february.. Skip forward another week, so we're now just about in June and my exams are starting, including Calculus, electric circuits, mechanics and thermodynamics. All within the first ten days of June, so I have practically no time to study in-between exams (let alone game diablo!!)..
After that (date unknown so far), I have a final exam, defending the earlier mentioned project I've been writing..

Oh, and I forgot to mention the local carnival at the 26th of May, which results in being drunk around 21 hrs straight and the resting that is needed after such a day.
My friends and I light up the grill at about 6 AM and start the day with steaks and jägermeister. Last year we returned home at 3 AM the following night
Live and study the same place I'll assume - based on the description. The major project needs to be done by the end of May, and in June switch those exams for the other courses I'm following and you've got my schedule. Not the optimal timing :(

Could be :) I'm Danish aswell, so we're half way there!
Hehe, the carnival pretty much gave it away ;)

posted a message on What does DiabloFans think of our Diablo 3 Handbook App?
Well.. I'm back for another round of suggestions for the app.

    1. In my opinion it is not necessary to use that 'Category indicator' at the top of every section. When you navigate to Classes, Items, Artisans etc. there's a big sign at the top stating which section you are in.. just below the navigation bar, which also shows you your current section. The reason I find it unnecessary is that in Classes, the Wizard is always "left out" because of that and you'll have to scroll down for it.

    2. When navigating inside the Items or World section, there is a lot of subsections to navigate through, but everytime you click to the next subsection the entire screen scrolls back up to the start. In items, if I choose to navigate down to Legendary Quivers the first thing I see is a screen of category bars on it: Items (which was unnecessary come 1st point) > Armor > Off-Hand > Quivers > Legendary. Same issue when going backwards in the menu. would be nice if the menu did not scroll when clicking. Found it really annoying to read Cain's Journal in the World > Lore section, because I forgot which chapter I had just read, and I had to start from the top scrolling down everytime I was finished with a chapter.

    3. Add a search option in the Items section. That way you can browse for a specific name (on a legendary item perhaps) or if you add affix search as well, for items suiting your specific needs - you might want to search for every strength item available.

That's it for now! Hope it will be useful :)

    Cheers

Opinions based on reasons are still opinions, I would assume. But I see your arguments on the matter, and I yield to them. We are almost on the same page anyway I believe.. or in my opinion.. eh.. ( :hehe: ). I still don't think it is silly to argue over opinions though, as long as it is an argument without the purpose of declaring one opinion right and one wrong.

@Sythrasz I mostly agree with you, but one can still change ones opinion due to arguments presented by others with different opinions. So I still dare say, you could argue about opinions, still aware that no one is entitled to fend another opinion off as wrong, and because of that you could argue forever about certain matters.

I believe that you can explain your opinion on several levels:
    1. I think demon hunter's the best looking character.. just because...
    2. I think demon hunter's the best looking character.. look at them boots!
    3. I think demon hunter's the best looking character.. because I like the setting around the demon hunter, being crazed by the hunt of demons turning it into some mad split personality. The look presented is very close what I've emagined could go for a DH. She seems battle ready, always, just by the looks of her.
    4. ..
    5. ... even more detailed. You get the point.

I think I just argued why the demon hunter in the picture looks cool to me. And if someone, who didn't think the DH was the better looking at first, is convinved by those arguments, they might change their opinion on who they like better in that picture. Or not. The next to reply to this thread might present some arguments that change my opinion to one of the other characters.

In order for the story in D3 to make any kind of sense Blizzard had to change a few things about the first 2 games.
Read that entry and //www.diablowiki.com/Lore_Summary">http://www.diablowiki.com/Lore_Summary" class="wiki-link">DiabloWiki.com - <a href=//www.diablowiki.com/Lore_Summary">http://www.diablowiki.com/Lore_Summary"/> http://www.diablowiki.com/Lore_Summary, it seems some need to recap the lore.

So let me see if I am understand you correctly. You want us to ARGUE, over an OPINION?

    That's silly.

If you are of a different opinion, you can argue why, hence get an argument going. That is not silly. Although the argument might become never ending. Still worth it, if you want a new perspective on things - and if you are convinced to another perspective you might even change your original opinion, who knows? :)

    Quote from Zoolandar

To be honest, none of these sets really appeal to me. They seem very fluffy and unpractical, hardly sexy or badass.

I am analyzing the armor associated with my idea of the character; the barbarian armor doesn't seem, well, barbarian. It makes me think he is some kind of knight or something while I have this idea that he is a savage warrior, blood tested and brutal, not feudal answering to some lord.

The D2 barbarian 'Immortal King' set was somewhat like this too, nothing new in terms of style. Barbarians in Sanctuary are not necessarily wild savages, as they are considered elsewhere, but they are regarded sacred warriors, protectors of Mount Arreat and the world stone - although it didn't end so well last time we got to play the series. With this in mind, the armor set could just as well fit for the barbarian. Then again, in respect to my other comment, that's my opinion :)

posted a message on Website Database Compromise, Champions and Bosses linked, +Skill Affixes, French and German Clients
The skeleton king in the beta is considered a boss, right, and isn't the loot he is dropping always better when killing him for the first time with a new character? The next time you would kill him with that character, he is not even likely to drop a rare item, hence the mechanism for alteration of dropping better loot is already in place.

Let's say a boss has a value of a 100 for dropping better loot the first time you kill it, and the next time that has dropped to 1. Champion mobs might have a value of 100 every time you face them, since they are essentially always "new bosses", because they are randomly spawned when you create a new game. When killing a said number of champion mobs, the value of the boss tied to the area, meaning the champion mobs only ties to once boss at a time, is again increased to a 100, giving him the same value as any other champion mob, but not making him superior, when it comes to farming, thus not a must kill. Then those who like the challenge of a boss fight can attack and it'd still be worthwhile in the end, while those who don't can skip it.
That's how I think it could work out.

As far as I know, we are not yet aware of how the loot tables are affected by the numbers of players in a game in Diablo 3. In your quote that doesn't seem to be factored in, when mentioning the D3 aspect of farming. If loot does get more plentiful within a full populated game versus a single player game (still online, I know), then I don't see the big issue in sharing MF to a group. On the other hand, if it doesn't, then, as you say HeyseusKristos, the players are prompted to play alone, when their MF is so high that they always are the MF contributer to a group.

I am fairly sure - even though I do not find the quote now - that Blizzard stated that loot per time unit did not change in multiplayer compared to single-player (at least that is what they are trying to achieve design wise).
Now that you mention it, I think you're right about this one :)
