posted a message on The state of dyes in D3

Not sure if this was mentioned but one of my main problems with dyes is that they can look completely different in game versus on the character select screen... I know it's something to do with dynamic lighting blah blah blah, but it's to the point where you think you dyed yourself red and it's actually orange. Not even close.

I actually find that most pieces of gear look drastically better with dye removed. A lot of the legendary items have really cool color patterns of their own, a prime example being the act 3 cache boots and gloves that are a funky purple-teal combo. You can't get anything near that detailed with the current dye system.

The issue with this is that since these legendaries aren't really part of a set, you end up with a shiny gold chest peice blue boots purple gloves and a black helmet and you end up looking stupid. The individual pieces look 10x better than if you used dye, but the outfit looks awful.

So in the end what I end up doing is finding a set of armor that's meant to go together from the white item transmogs / such as the rakisgard set, or the bone weave set... Those look decent just for the congruity, and dyes are alright on them. Too often the level 70 green sets are missing a peice. So I put on immortal kings and have everything matching except for shoulders... And then that looks blarg.

overal the system could use some love

i would just try a 2.3 ww build or a 2.3 ww-rend build both should easily do gr 55

Thanks. I already completed it sometime earlier this week. For me it was the hardest of all 4 builds. I wrote up a build for it but something happened and didn't get published.

Yeah definitely the hardest of the four. I did full wastes plus the bul-Kathos swords and did a WW - rend build. I used focus and restrain on the rings, and kept furious charge on my bar just to keep the damage multipliers up.

Cube the mantle of channeling, band of might for defense, and furnace for the dps on elites.
I am pretty sure my gear sucked but the fact I'm paragon 700 and have level 70 gems carried me through it. If your really in a pinch I would suggest speed leveling a taeguks to use with it.

posted a message on lvling gems bugd?

Some of us so called "RNG trolls" do understand probability quite well.

and if you understand probability you would understand that given that everyone playing Diablo this season has 300 tries on a 60% chance for gems, a bell curve of what people actually experience for a success rate is created. Your story of 90% failure would be multiple standard deviations from the center of the bell, and something very low percentage like .01% of people playing would experience what you did. Considering how many people play Diablo... And considering that most people don't experience the "bug" that you experience, the most likely reasoning for your issues is that you happen to be that very very very "unlucky" person. not that diablo is broken.

I have played close attention to this glitch and while speed leveling low gems, for example a level 1 gem from an empowered GR 55, I have yet to see a 100% chance fail to upgrade due to this glitch, in about 250 attempts.

Not saying that it didn't happen for you, but it doesn't seem like this glitch effects upgrade chance.

The issue is when you spam click and the glitch occurs, the probability of success does not appear on the screen. So the first try most likely said 100%, but you didn't see what the probability was on subsequent tries because you spam clicked the button.

Most likely what happened was you upgrades a gem 4 times rapidly from a rift of only 10-13 levels higher, resulting in a 90-80% success rate on later tries without you realizing it

And other comments on RNG, it's just RNG. Reported probabilities such as gem upgrades I would trust as gold and say your unlucky. always consider sample size when complaining about RNG. I bet most of your 'unlucky' feelings come from short stretches rather than the average of 100-1000 pieces of data.

just think. With a sample size of 4, it is literally impossible for you to experience a 60% success rate on a gem upgrade.

posted a message on 4/4 barbarian sets for Years of War

    hey,

trying to to do the 4 barbarian sets solo GR 55 to get the Years of War Conquest (4/6).

might of the earth was pretty simple- my main build is leap quake.

the Reakors/ik6 by chainer got me immortal King pretty easy.

im thinking I can use this same exact build but instead of Raekor 4 IK 6 swap them to Raekor 6 IK 4, and that should be good enough to do GR 55. (I'll let you know how effective this method is) So the only gearing I have to do is swap out boots/pants from IK to Raekor. Pretty straightforward. Strategy wise, you lose the 250% damage buff from keeping WOTB up permanently. But you gain a ton of spender damage. I will play around with this. It may be worth while to swap out Boulder toss for a different spender to maximize the damage from Raekor 6 peice. But again, that's probably not necessary at GR 55.

Update: it was a joke how easy this clear was. If you have a raekor's ik6 set that can clear in the GR 60's comfortably, then all you need to do is switch 2 pieces out. The damage is a lot less, but should still be enough. Also bolder toss does an insane amount of damage now, so make sure you use it on elites.

Now the one I'm not sure about is Wastes. I was looking for a good 6 peice solo Wastes build and all I really saw is globe farmers and speed T10 farm builds.

    Edit:

So I looked up the season 3 WW Barb build that was capable of GR55 back then. 5 peice wastes, 3 peice IK with a RORG. That build didn't work...

I then tried this t10 speed farm build with two major edits.

I swapped out WOTB for rend and I replaced the Armor slot in the cube with the mantle of channeling. I didn't have the CDR on gear to maintain the WOTB bonus, but my scrapped together gear, with some really crappy bul-kathos swords, was just barely enogh to get me through a GR55.

again these aren't suppose to be the most powerful 4 builds... Just the easiest for someone to gear for and quickly get 4/6 of Years of war completed.

posted a message on Season has been out for 312 hours, top ranked players have over 300 hours played in this season, explain ?

I think they should kick out the botters too. But honestly if your using the leaderboards just to sort of rank yourself / compare yourself to others then just look at the boards with a discount.

If you are top 50 right now, just realize you're actually probably top 30 among non-botters. That simple. You can even get really into and look at the hours played on every person ahead of you and give yourself a more accurate rank... It won't show up on blizzards list that way, but who cares? This is al just personal edification at this point.

its not like some1 botting is adversely affecting your game, or somehow negatively impacting the progress you make this season.

posted a message on Highest GR for 'semi-casual' Barbarian
    Quote from WizKhalifas»

Been a realist you're going to probably be over 700 - 800 paragon by the end of the season, this seasons paragon is sky rocketing.

Max you can push out with Leap Quake is 85 maybe 88 if geared & have great rolls, you only need 60 - 70 gems in your gear for a solid amount of STR which currently isn't to hard to get onto anyways.

So been real you could probably push a high rift pretty easy 80 is a real goal you could even say 85 by the end of the season who knows what paragons will be. I'm honestly thinking some people will be in the 3K, I'm sure you'll go alright hardest part is just lasting the whole season and actually committing to it.

Honestly, use leap quake to gear your Raekor to be honest. Every single BARB in the top 1000 will probably be one without the odd Leap Quake.

But that's the hole thing... Raekor is fun for speed runs but watching chainer's videos on how to push grift levels... I'm not buying a new mouse to custom program animation canceling... And I'm not going to phish grifts hoping that I luck out and hit a poison boss, that's just not a fun way to play to me. Leap quake prolly isn't as strong but I feel it's more level, more casual.

posted a message on Highest GR for 'semi-casual' Barbarian

What's a realistic cap/goal for greater rifts for a semi-casual barbarian this season?

what I mean by semi-casual is I am not paragon 2000 like all the guides out there, more like paragon 700-800. I wont have a level 90 gem on every slot and every ancient (more like level 70 maybe 80 if I push it) and I'm not talking about if I fish for the perfect rift I might be able to clear this difficulty 1 in 10 tries. I'm talking about if I open a GR at this level, I have a fairly decent (50-75%) chance of beating it.

Anyone in my situation have a number they think is doable? I'm currently pushing GR 70 with leap quakes and think I might get to 80 by end of season if I perfect my gear.

posted a message on almost able to solo grift 70, what to change?

Quick gearing tip that I used to help get a better weapon.

If you like me use both the raekor's/IK6 build and the leap quake build upgrading rares can be your friend.

basically I was in the market for a better weapon for both builds so upgrading rare 2hander mighty weapons using kanai's cube provides a 25% (2/8 weapons) chance of getting a desired weapon or a 2.5% chance of getting a desired ancient.

Same me thing applies for mighty belts. I'm looking for both a dread iron and a better IK so upgrading the rares is 2/8 chance to find one I want. Makes that resource dump a lot more palatable, and it's a bit less time consuming than farming bounties to reroll legendaries.

edit: misread your post, thought u needed a new weapon. Tip still applies tho.

posted a message on How does Stricken apply on earthquake

    hello,

so so I just recently watched a general video on how bane of the stricken works and what I got out of it is that it works based on APS, and ability proc coefficients (only vaguely understand this concept). It also only applies the debuff to the first enemy you hit.

    so here are my questions.

when I leap on a rift guardian how many stacks are applied? 1 for leap hitting, and one for earthquake? Does earthquake proc any additional stacks of stricken over its duration?

if I have 3-5 separate earthquakes under a RG is each instance of the spell creating additional stricken stacks? I know damage stacks wasn't sure on stricken.

when I'm fighting a group, say an elite pack surrounded by trash mobs, how do I guarantee that my leaps/quakes/avalanches hit the elite "first" in order to get stricken stacks on the big guy and not the little guys? Does it apply to the closest enemy?

Final question on stricken - do stacks ever fall off, say if I die or if I walk away from a mob for 20 seconds and come back?

thanks and sorry if this was answered elsewhere

posted a message on Conquests in Season 5

Avarice was pretty easy on Regular. I wasn't patient enough to wait for a gilded baron to spawn so I did the Ruins of Corvus method.

I had my friend prep the room with his crusader by opening al the doors and exploring the map so I could plan around dead ends, and with 9k gold find (emerald in helmet and 1-2 gold find items is all you really need) I hit 60m streak pretty easy.

now doing that on HC I think will be a pain. Not only do I have to level a 70 guy, but remember that guy will not have any paragon, or a jacked up friend who can farm blood shards for him.

in my opinion leveling a second regular toon to 70, and gearing Him to do 2-3 Class set GR 55's will be a lot easier than gearing a hardcore toon enough to do avarice, which includes leveling a boon of the hoarder in HC to level 30-50.

I am also more likely to keep playing my second regular tune in groups than I would be the HC guy I have to level. I plan on abandoning that guy the second I finish the Journey.
