30/4/15 UPDATE for 2.2 Patch!
GR56 Cleared!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMsvZuCdn-E
Build from diablofans tool: http://www.diablofans.com/builds/54200-carnevil-2-2-gr56-cleared-always-work-in-progress
It's time to update this cool build with stuff from 2.2! What's new?
- Rework to Zuni's bonus set: we need a spender in skill bar
- New pieces for Zuni's set: gloves and pants
The changes are really cool because the output damage got a very nice improvement and thanks to the 4p bonus we got a useful buff to our survivability which is cool considering how much we are exposed to elites affixes (no tiki, no party)
The build has a lot of potential and probably people will push it over GR57, average players can easily manage around GR50 which is fine compared to what was our GR range in 2.1!
So,I’ve tested a lot of spenders, like Grasp of the dead, Spirit Barrage (Phantasm) and Acid Could (acid rain)
Acid Rain PROS:
Our gameplay needs to be fast and versatile, we will never stand on a single spot for that long especially while fighting elites! 24 yards help us to debuff as many mobs as we can considering our darts will pierce! The absence of cooldown is very important as well and you will notice it once you try it... Darts don’t make enough damage without Zuni bonus proc. So better to keep it up all the time in all situations. Use it in case you run Enforcer over BotT
GotD PROS:
Grasp of the Dead is my favourite because i run BotT gem and has amazing sinergy with the build especially because i'm using the rune with lower CD (6 sec)
You have to keep in mind this:
The debuff from Zuni bonus will be active when the mob is in the area + 4 sec.
A little example: cast "acid cloud" on a lacuni
- Insta debuff on lacuni
- lacuni stands 2 sec in the area of acid rain, still debuffed
- lacuni jumps out of acid rain effect, it will be debuffed for the next 4 sec!
So basically the debuff will be over 4 seconds after the mob left the area of effect or your spender expired!
Once you know this, the gameplay is pretty much the same described in original post.
Any new items beside Zuni pieces?
Yes! The Convention of Elements is a brand new ring from 2.2 and it fits really fine in Carnevil! Feel free to use it once you are much more confident with your gameplay (you will remove Unity so watch out ^^)
My Follower:
- Solanium + Broken Promises for nice globes spawn (Gruesome Feast)
- a lot of IAS and CDR
- Ess of Johan mandatory
Well guys, that’s all, I’m gonna update this guide if I find out something new to share.

ORIGINAL POST from 2.1.2
Hey whazup guys, according to patch 2.1.2 patch notes all the fetishes now benefit from %Poison Dart affix, which is a great buff (fix) that allows us to theorycraft some new competitive stuff!
There are few things that i’d like to mention that maybe someone don’t know yet:
- You don’t need TnT gloves, because fetishes have OUR attack speed, so basically you are gonna put as IAS affix as you can to gain a lot of output dmg.
- Carnevil mask doesn’t consider which rune you are using, Fetishes will always shot Splinter Darts so POISON damage.
- Fetish Army will benefit from "%Fetish Army" + "%Poison Darts" + "%Poison"
- FS will benefit from "%Poison Darts" + "%Poison"
- When not spitting darts, fetishes will do melee/physical dmg
According to this information, I decided to spend some time on that build rather than more performing ones (jade first of all) because I believe Carnevil Doc has become a competitive build (not high like jade) considering the very short time you need to build it! The good part is that you don’t need damn rare Kukri, Furnace,TnT etc but the old Zuni and some crafted items (Cain + Aughild). Another very interesting point is that, thanks to Dagger of Darts, WD looks like is casting an AoE skill which, we all know, is one of wd biggest issue (spenders AoE are to weak and manaburn). As I said before, the build is focused on attack speed (IAS), that’s why we are going to craft Cain set rather than using Poison pants (Swamp land Waders) so we can keep %Poison Dart, gain 8% IAS (which is better than 20%Poison imho) and keep some vitality (useful for us and fetishes as well)
Our HP is going to be around 500k but that’s nothing to worry about thanks to our gem "Simplicity Strenght" which gives us some nice Life Steal (2% on hit), very nice with high IAS. Another thing very useful to keep in mind about this gem is that all our fetishes will benefit from its primary effect (huge buff). About gems, my favourite ones are Enforcer (more buff to pets) and Gogok (better FS proc rate)
Skills I suggest:
Build: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#aQlUkP!VWhe!cbbaYb I’d like to spend some words on some skills:
Poison Dart:
If you have some general Stun on hit on your gear, Snake to the face + Gogok (an example of max ias) has more stun on hit proc rate than Splinters + Gogok even if is just 1 dart at time (around 47% vs 36%)
Fetish Army:
We are going for Legion of Daggers even if is a physical rune, because, as i said on top of the analysis, fetishes will be spitting poison darts
Wall of Zombie: We have 5 mandatory skills and 1 jolly skill. My favourite is WoZ (Wrecking Crew) because of the taunt effect that is very helpful while piranhado is on CD! It works with blue packs too and it is very useful to aggregate trash mobs in 1 point (like piranhado). So, basically with a good coordination of Spirit Walk, Piranhado and WoZ you will be in a safe position.
Useful passive skills are 5, so try to craft a nice Hellfire Amulet! I really like Tribal Rites on 40+ grifts because pets still die with the strongest mobs and some elite affixes (I think is better than using Jungle Fortitude). If you play T6 or lower grifts then Tribal Rites is not mandatory.
In short:
PROS
- Good alternative for 40s grifts
- "AoE" effect
- Easy to build
- Easy Ancient items
CONS:
- Some maps are unplayable
- Fetishes sometimes have bad positioning
- CD are long, basically you must not die
That’s a video of me clearing Grift 42 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTYzlb8HYiM
(in the video description will find a link to my armory) So what’s your thoughts about new Carnevil? Cya in game, guys!

I've been following this thread, and usually I think the DFans community is kinda cool and spot-on with their response on controversial topics.
Some of the responses here (let's just generalize them as "anti-MannerCookie") reveal a shocking ignorance though.
Let me bring in my 0.02$ (and this is *not* the perspective of me as a supposedly neutral mod on this website, but me as a D3 player, so all what follows is my heavily biased opinion, honest and unfiltered).
A bit of background: Me and my clan have moved more and more into the competitive scene; mostly on group leaderboards, because with a little bit of theorycrafting, coordination, and somewhat decent gear you can get pretty good rankings without playing 24/7. For example, we made several top 100 rankings at the end of era 2 while being below average paragon (I was the only paragon 800+ in our clan before the double paragon XP week, and our "competitors" that surrounded us on the leaderboards are paragon 1000+) and average gear (you obviously don't have perfect gear with "only" being paragon 700ish).
However, in the past we dropped down significantly in rankings because of several exploits:
None of those exploits was ever fixed in time to avoid leaderboard impact; none of the players abusing it were ever punished - no ban, no rollback, not even loss of leaderboard ranking. And those are only very few examples: Up until last week, Reaper of Souls has been an awesome game for a million of players, but for the few hundreds or thousands that are interested in actually getting good rankings on the leaderboards it's "wait until the next exploit, and either use it or drop from rank #50 to #300" (and the latter is what happened to us time and time again). We sometimes managed to catch up after the exploit was fixed, but it was extremely nerve-wracking to see that Blizzard just didn't care at all about this. And with Wyatt's statement at the Tavern Talk ("we don't care about the leaderboards") the message was pretty obvious: "there's an exploit? we don't give a f*ck. abuse it or lose the game".
I can totally, 100% understand why certain players feel why they wanted to cheat (and that should answer ruksak's question, although it was answered already before you asked 5 times again). Why did he cheat? BECAUSE EVERYBODY CHEATED. Does it make it better? Not at all. But if you're on a highway, there are 3 lanes, the speed limit is 60 km/h, and the speed of the cars on the 3 lanes is 100 km/h, 90 km/h, and 80 km/h, you don't slow down to 60 km/h (if you do you might be from a different country than me or a really good citizen). Especially not if at the end of the road there's a cool concert of your favorite band and the last one gets bad spots with a bad view.
Honestly, think of MannerCookie what you will, but I personally respect him even more after this post, and I don't get all the hate. The rollbacks are still being processed, so wait a few days before condemning MannerCookie and cheering for your favorite streamer; they might take a hit at some point. But keep in mind that they're probably playing the game from a different perspective than you do, and what looks for you like a total loss of respect might just be a completely understandable action (to make this clear: I did not abuse this exploit, as I did never abuse any of the other previous exploits).
So, now you have two people in this thread you guys can hate! But when you do that, please take a deep breath before submitting that and think if you really need to. I was about to lock this topic, but I hope you can bring this discussion back to a more civil level - or just refrain from posting here altogether. If this thread continues to be as toxic as it is though, it'll be locked.
@MannerCookie: Props to the honest words in your OP. And I hope you come back eventually - your contribution to the community for barbs and crusaders was incredible, especially on 2.2 PTR you were like a one-man QA army.
After all, all those cheating players did me and my clan a service: from now on we know that if a new exploit appears, there won't be many people abusing it because of the possibility of getting a ban. Every competitive player thought Blizzard simply had lost interest in banning people for exploiting (because there haven't been any bans). The only bans in RoS were post-season 1 bans, and it was never specified what those players were banned for (botting maybe?). But now the game has changed. Thankfully.

I have already said this on the Reddit comments (and as expected got many downvotes for it), however I think it's a good idea to give you a perspective of how much of an impact this exploit is going to have.
Most people seem to overreact whenever they hear the term "exploit" and say things like "this season is ruined" and / or "ban all of the exploiters". The truth is, none of these exploits had any noticeable impact whatsoever, and I say this from the point of view of someone who plays this game mostly to compete for rankings and deliberately chose not to use exploits because they were just not efficient enough.
If you look at the big exploits that we have seen in the past (most notably Malthael and XP in S1), you can see that there was always a huge trade-off involved when trying to benefit from these. During the Malthael runs you were not getting anything besides experience, and many people chose not to farm it because you would lose lots with regard to overall character progression, same thing for the experience exploit in S1 (where 3 out of 4 group members were not gaining any benefit at all). It's the same thing here: you can choose to farm a lot of blood shards (at ~2-3x the normal rate, while 1 party member will get next to no benefit whatsoever) or just farm regular rifts (where you will get less blood shards, but overall more drops, mats, gems and lots of experience). In the end, the blood shard exploit is likely going to be fixed soon, and those people that invested dozens of hours now will be behind in many aspects (most notably paragons and gem levels) while they might have gambled a couple of good items (which in the end is just a way to decrease the drop luck dependency if you want to compete on the leaderboards that are already subject to insane levels of RNG).

Hey mate,
This is a great idea, but unfortunatly the game belong to blizzard, which never listen to players and do stuff on their own which almost always ends up in fail sadly....
I really hope im wrong and someone will notice this and developp it, but im not counting on it from what ive seen in the latest patches....
that is sadly one hell of a wrong thing to say, you actually do know that RoS brough MANY thing asked by the community right? ... it's not because the stuff YOU asked ain't there that it mean they NEVER listen to the community :\
edit : On topic, this is a really nice idea that I would love to see implemented

How about you stop caring what other people are doing?
But if you really really want to report him send a mail to hacks@blizzard.com , but I doubt they will do anything about it.

Jamoose - Yeah I love that, looks brilliant. Although I do agree on the theme in that specific example being a little too WD.
However, I think with both the Amazon and Druid, there will be some visual overlap with the WD in things like armours and so forth. It's kind of hard to avoid, with both of them having a very tribal theme.
I also think this would be a great opportunity to make spears useful in the game. Currently there are no really good legendary spears.
Add two handed spears and one handed javelins, and give this new class a few abilities (especially generators) that are spear/javelin only, but they have the advantage that they then become ranged. Giving said new class a reason to use spears and javelins.
Lol I could speculate for hours, I'm super amped about literally any news they might reveal on a second expansion.
I'd also love if they added a fourth main stat, like Fortitude or Stamina or Wisdom. Something like that. Add Sapphires to the game, giving things like the new main stat in armors, and for helms and weapons they can add RCR and attack speed or something like that.
This way they can also make the new main stat grant All resistance, as to not get overly complex. That way, at least two main stats grant armour, and two all resistance. Also opens up possibilities for a potential additional class after that, bringing the playable characters to 8, with 2 of each of the 4 main stats.
Hype-train!!

I don't think anyone is forgetting anything. It's just that the farming has become so retarded and boring that people are trying to look for reasonable alternatives. Just because the game is built around character progression principles, it doesn't mean that we need to defend "farming" all the time... If it sucks then it sucks. In D2 you had a level cap but still had stuff to farm for even if you hit 99... Today, i don't see any reason why D3's entire farming aspect should boil down to just one lousy thing that is paragon farming. It's the most retarded situation the game has ever been in imo. Sure we got a lot of nice new features and whatever but when players need to farm paragon 24/7 in order to be in a position to compete with others, then it's just not fun anymore for a lot of people... And true, the game's top tier has always been a miniscule percentage of the player base but that still does not mean that a system that disregards paragon levels would work against "top players"... If designed right, it could work and be fun for everyone; "top players" and "casuals" alike.
The only reason why speed GR is not as boring as d2's Baal runs is the fact that GR's are somehwat randomized and Baal runs are like 99% static. I want D3 to have more reasons as to why its farming is superior to any other game and not just a bit of randomness which heavily works against the players on higher levels - Having said that, speed GR's are boring as shit, it's not even funny.
Edit: And i totally agree with Limdul above me. Another great example of those custom games that would fit in D3 imo is "Enfo's team survival".
1
Why does this have to be a contreversy? They don't want it to be D2.5 so they won't bring back the horadric cube with its exact same name and powers... But they do want to bring back some stuff that people loved or is reminiscent of D2 therefore a similar cube like artifact that has certain powers that in some ways, are also similar to the old horadric cube in that they provide your character with more customization and power in general.
1
@Atomsk: Op is asking for a trial build not a group composition for 4p greaters...
@OP: I don't think anyone will share such information on a public forum, at least not yet...
1
Imo this is bullshit. If you'd try turbohud you will most likely realize that the only thing that needs to be done with this thing is to implement 90% of its features in the live game by Blizz.
@Silvach: You also seem to not be getting a point here; A lot of people exploited this because of their past experience with the way Blizzard handled exploits on the live servers. It's not a justification, it's reality. If you don't accept it then you are living in a dream world where everything has to be perfect and whoever cheats gets his head chopped off. This fact needs to put you in perspective i think. Try to understand where people are coming from, not everyone diasgreeing with you here is automatically trying to defend MC.
@Kamui: Seriously? Fom, crypt and wh are better than rifts? The same map over and over again? With the most horrible itemization ever with the retarded auction house? "veterans" might agree that it's better just because of nostalgia. Ros is better than vanilla ten times fold. Also, the coe ring is not useless...
1
Someone had multiple reasons for commiting an act, how unconceivable?
Seriously dude, i dono if you are trying to get views for your channel by trashing MC but just give it a rest, your last 10 posts are all repeating the same shit over and over, we get it.
1
@Silvach: "lost respect" give me a break... All the smalltime streamers / youtubers jump on oppurtunities like this to trash the "convicted"... Coudl your arguments be any more repetitive and dull? We got it, he cheated... Let's put him on a stake and burn him?
A lot of players exploited every exploit that went live and no one got banned - Naturally people assumed they won't get banned this time either but they were wrong and got rolled back. No one lost any respect in my opinion, if i had the time on that day i would have probably used the exploit too.
All the white knights going out on a crusade is just pathetic, give it a break jesus christ.

I logged on my Carnevil WD, equipped with pre 2.2 gear. Just put on some gems and cleared a 45 without even having to focus on the rift while watching some shit on Twitch... The build is so much more powerful now it's insane. I'll get to farming some of the new pieces after i'm done with my wizard and then probably go for 50+ attempts (Orak watch out i'm coming for ya ).
---
So i cleared a 50 quite easily - I was very well ahead of time but the last pack before the RG had the worst affix combo ever and i wasted like 2 minutes on it so my total clear was like 14:xx in the end.
Anyway i wanted to ask you Orak, how the hell did those guys on the leaderboard clear 54+ ? I tested some 55 and the fetishes just die so fast... Not sure if it's even possible. I guess it's just fishing for an extremely easy rift with nothing but melee mobs and no elite packs...
Also, has Zei been tested as a replacement for enforcer? If it works with fetishes it might be superior since people are clearing 54+ anyway, it means you don't really need the extra toughness on fetishes that comes from enforcer. I'm guessing that Zei's only works for your dart but it might not be the case as similar to the DH where sentries gain a bonus from Zei's also.
1
The Grand Vizier is definitely a solid option. I cleared a GR 50 solo eu ns using it and missed a GR 53 by 12 seconds.
I specced around Thunder crash so it's a slightly different playstyle than that of SS since you must be spamming meteors everytime you get the 4 buffs up. I wanted to post a build here using the build tool but it fucked me up and i lost most of the progress so i gave up and posted it on my clan's internal forums.
The biggest downside to this build in comparison to the SS spec, is that you have really low damage on the RG. With the SS build, the hydras can kill the RG in a few minutes. Using the Grand Vizier, it takes me 5 minutes to kill almost any RG which means that you have to have a good density rift and you need to pull a lot of mobs together before you start damaging them - Like seriously, pulling the whole fucking rift is your only option after a certain level (probably GR51 or so... depending on paragon and gear).
1
Iceblink gives you a chill that you don't need since you are using frozen orb. It gvives you more slow which is nice i guess but not really needed since you have slow time i guess. The 10% extra crit chance is cool but nothing special imo. The crit can't be "constant" because it depends on the crit chance you have from gear + paragon. Afaik, Zei's damage is added on top of most other damage calculations therefore it is usually valued very highly by dps builds. Personally, without providing you with proof, i would say go for Zei 100%.
If your crit chance on gear is low and you feel that the extra slow from iceblink helps as it gives you mroe crowd control, then by all means, go for the Iceblink gem. Other than that, Zei is most likely the better option.

For all the butthurt people, here's a fact that can encourage you a bit: If someone is botting 24/7 like so many people are claiming here, he will get banned. Simple, there is no one on D3 that bots 24/7 and does not get banned eventually.
Bots do offer an advantage, even if the game is not exactly an Esport. If it was, then Blizzard would have invested more effort into stopping these 3rd party programms like in Starcraft's case for an example.
Banning all the bots never helped, as i said, not in d2 and not in d3. The botters simply purchase a new account(s) and start botting all over again with a newly released, modified version of their bot that supposedly manages to evade the ban for at least a month or two, untill next time.
For those concerned about server loads, a banwave would not decrease the load on the servers. If anything, it would increase it just because of the previously mentioned fact - Once bots are banned, they come back twice as strong. People start botting again and even harder than they were before because they want to "earn" all of their wealth back.
For those complaining about the lack of ethics demonstrated by some forum users - If this causes you to cry then you might want to reconsider being on this forum to begin with because opinions that differ from yours are inevitable and like it or not, not everyone's perfect and not everyone shares the same ideals as you do.
Dasmussdaweg has a point. Probably 99% of us have or had an illegal pirated software at some point in our lives. this shouldn't validate or invalidate the usage of bots in d3 but it should put some people in perspective here, imo.
Currently, Blizzard is investing MINIMAL effort in trying to stop bots. Why? Because the bot usage on itself as a whole is minimal also. Obviously the fact that you can't trade / sell items also helps. Blizzard does not really give a shit and that's the truth guys. They will push out a ban wave every once in a while when the issue turns into a heated discussion on the forums or in between patches / seasons.
People enjoy the game in different ways. Some people like the grind and some people view it as hell. Some people want to have somethign to play with when they are back from work everyday and some people are just playing 16 hours a day without the need for a bot. My advise to you all would be to just enjoy the game as you like to enjoy it the most. If the thought of other players botting brings you suffering then simply ignore that fact because it is not directly affecting you - Unless you are trying to get rank 1 in your realm and let's face it, i checked most of the people's gear on this thread and no one here is even close to rank 1.
TL:DR: Bots exist and are not going anywhere. If that causes you suffering then either quit the game or just ignore this fact and enjoy your game because bots are not directly affecting you unless you are competing for rank 1 on your realm.
