If all recepies in the cube gets a note "resulting item cannot be primal" and when a primal drops it's a giant red beam or something, then I'm down with this. Then it's an actual "RNG loot hunt" which imho is what diablo should be, not the current grind for mats to spend at the "cube slot-machine"

posted a message on OLD player coming back!

How long ago? Pre Reaper of Souls?

Well I guess the basic is like this now:

    - Create a new seasonal character

    - Ask for a boost to L70 or do it the old fashion way by grinding rifts in adventure mode (you will be starved for materials at first if you get a boost)

    - Keep a close look at the Season Journey (Shift-J in-game), especially the "Headrigs Gift" reward steps. It is kind of a tutorial and most of the steps are something you would want to do anyways sooner rather than later. Bagstone has an excellent tracker where you can look at "future steps" http://d3resource.com/journey/ .

    - Once you have your 6pc set from the Haedrigs Gift, look up a build here on dfans that uses this set and spend blood shards for missing support items (but not weapons or jewlery), and use your Death Breaths in the cube with the "Hope of Cain" recepie to get a good weapon.

posted a message on How do you keep alive?

Hey guys many thanks for the suggestions.

I have come across (it was in my stash unused!) Manajuma's and I am using it in combination with a full Arachyr's. It has transformed the game play. I am running around, invulnerable I believe, at 170% speed non-stop, revealing the map is seconds, reach a destination, explode my chicken, finish off anything remaining if I can be bothered, Hex and I am off again. Bounties in seconds. I am using Aquila's in the cube and my Mana is always at 100% unless I use the Wave of Piranhas to take out anything else and then my mana momentarily drops.

I have only played a little while and do not know how it will fare at higher levels, but the utility aspect of running around unhindered through mobs and doors, at 170% speed is unique. Nothing else I have seen comes even close.

The downside is that you are a chicken. Which I prefer anyway.

I have Arachyr's. Pox Fauld's, Nemesis Bracer's if I want to kill elites to farm Death's Breath, The Furnace and Aquila's in the cube.

I am not sure how it will fare at higher levels, currently am at Torment 7.

Arachyrs is _the_ set for Witch Doctors this season and will allow you to progress far beyond T7 with the proper supporting gear. Helltooth is still strong and has better survivablilty than arachyrs. Helltooth+gargantuan build is a also a very good build but you need the short mans finger ring for this to work.

As for survivabvility/glass canon, for farming this is perfectly fine, you aim to one-shot the elites so they rarely have a chance to attack you. You are not invincible in the chicken form, it just feels that way since the mobs don't have chance to attack, but try to stand still in chicken form :-)

The single most important piece of gear in the Witch Doctor arsenal for increasing the torment/grift level is the Sacred Harvester, it gives a huge damage bonus when properly combined with the soul harvest skill, switch between the runes languish when you are pushing high and soul to waste when you are speed farming. It also synergizes very well with the lakumbras ornament bracers for damage reduction. Your #1 prio should be to find an ancient version of Sacred Harvester by converting rare yellow ceremonial knives in the cube (cube the first non-ancient one you find and keep using the manjumas for farming)

As an intelligence based character you have a natural high resistances due to the intelligence stat and should prioritize armor instead of all res.

posted a message on Best farming build?

    Hi,

I'm considering switching to crusader for S9. I have played "end game" for all other classes before but never crusader. Though I'd try it out between seasons and see how fun the speed/farming build is, which is quite important since you spend so much time farming.

Is the build on this character the one crusaders use to farm?

(I know I'm missing the shield...)

In case I try out something else after this post this is the guide I followed: http://teambrg.com/diablo-3/d3-crusader-speed-farming-best-fastest-build/

thanks for the advice, I even got a GR84 down with some time to spare now without too much fishing. Learning to play the build properly in "high-end" grifts was much more important that a few upgrades I think.

    Lessons learned so far:

    - The pool from occulus on the follower is huuuge, save SW and suicide into it if density is good

    - Sure frozen is a pain, but knockback and teleport seems worse

    - Only recast gars to better position if you think you wont die

    - Pulling elite mobs is quite hard on some maps, it's often easier to go around and aggro/pull thrash to the elite packs

Best option if you really want to knock that 83 down is: keep fishing! If a map pops that you don't like to play with gargs (bastion's keep, sewers etc) skip immediately. Also don't stick a full rift if you're way behind on your timer.

Just go for the good map/mob combo and burn your keys on the way. Item upgrading or leveling another caldesann will limit your push time and that won't help you.

great, I'll just keep on fishing then. Pushing is where all the fun is as well so it all works out :-)
I actually think the RNG design on the grift is pretty good now. You can be behind quite a bit and still catch up with a few good mobs or pylons. (and vice versa, be ahead and still miss the target...)
The real killer is when I die with freshly spawned gargs and have to wait out the 45s cooldown.

posted a message on End of season push, last minute fixes?

    Hi,

I only have 2 days (4-6 hours, tops) left to play on this season since I'm leaving for the holidays soon.

I made a GR82 yesterday with a little bit of fishing but not with a good enough time to enter the leaderboards. Then I tried to fish for a G83, spent about 6-7 keys but never got closer than 17m30s. I did have some runs that looked promising but my luck never lasted for the full 15 minutes...

Now to my question, are any of my items so bad that I should try to farm for a new one (i.e bounty runs + re-roll) or do you think I'm better off trying to speed run some gem upgrades to fill a few more caldesan slots? (given my limited time frame)

If you get a sweet ancient weapon where it's not obvious what stat to re-roll, it would be nice to be able to fool around.

Your solution has existed for some time, D3PLANNER
and then of course, checking ladders and build guides (I heard someplace that there is a Fans site full of builds around)
we all know about d3planner and various re-roll calculators, but that's not the whole thing (i.e changing build etc).
Also it's seems kinda strange that Blizzard would "force" us to leave the game and look up the cookie cutter build stat priorities on an external webpage instead of just trying it out in the game.

posted a message on Frustrating progress and a possible solution

Short answer, no. (see bagstones reply for long answer :-)

slightly off-topic, I think that a (cheap) recepie to reset a re-roll (back to the original drop value) could be nice though. If you get a sweet ancient weapon where it's not obvious what stat to re-roll, it would be nice to be able to fool around. When I got my first SMK back in the days when there was no "cube crafting" I waited several weeks before I dared to re-roll it since it's such a permanent choice ;-)

Maybe the best example is if you get an ancient weapon with a socket before you get a gift in the season and you have to keep it un-rolled because re-rolling anything but the socket is madness.

It could also in some rare cases help out with switching builds, i.e you switch from a AD reliant build to IAS.

There are currently only 3 things to do: Rifts, Greater Rifts and Bounties.

And you want to remove 1 of them?

I think his main point was to remove the order "requirement" though.
otoh, Bounties is kind of a strange mode as of now. It's OP as hell when farming for a perfect ancient weapon with low drop-rate. But the basic setup is:
    - equip as much speed gear/skills you can get away with on a 6pc set
    - lower difficutly until you can insta-smash bosses solo in a 4-man
    - join a pub
    - mindlessly run around the map totally ignoring the "world" and you fellow party members

The only of the thing of the 4 items above that is anything close to fun is creating the speed-build character imho.

    /Ivar

Or... you could do what I have done with 10k+ bounties: do it alone, which enables me to not ignore the world around me and actually interact with it in any way I see fit whenever I see fit and although the yield could be better enjoy it just fine regardless.

A better hourly yield would have been an unexpected (but not uncalled for) nicety, but is one that we get used to play without.

Sure, I mostly do bounties solo as well (but I don't look at the enviroment). Normally in a season I do as many bounty runs as required to complete the Stash-tab journey. If I haven't found an ancient Sacred Harvester by that time I run pub-bounties until I do (indepenedent on how bad it rolls :-)
The bounty game mode is not up-to-par in with pushing solo-grifts in my opinion in terms of "fun", so I mostly avoid it. But I still think that the "rotation" is a bad mechanic that makes it even less enjoyable. Sometimes I just wanna log in to the game play 15 minutes before dinner, without having to sync with some spreadsheet. I'd raher have no bonus acts at all then the "forced" rotation.

Thanks. I dont think that using Sacred Harvester for this is good idea, for exactly same reasons you described.

I asked only because i completely forgot about Wormwood and have feeling (wrong :) ) that u were using Sacred Harvester (which surprised me).

for generic speed builds (i.e rift/grift) sacred harvester is great since it's trivial to maintain stacks to feed the "soul to waste" speed boost.
to clarify, I used wormwood in order to drop "locust swarm" from the bar and still maintain the RoE/bakuli buffs, pestilence is not needed since we are only fighting a single boss. The dogs + "fierce loyalty" is a much better option imho for a consistent speed boost. But as always with these special conquests, there are many ways to complete them I guess, and trying out different builds is hopefully part of the fun. good luck

    Anyone tried WD-solo with chicken+Arachyr in S8?

I see alot of old HT-chicken comments (assuming S7), but my HT gear/gems in S8 is kinda garbage.

IvveP, I sent a friend request if you want to work on the achievement together. Anyone who is interested can send a friend request to Huriphoonado#1132

sorry, didn't see any friend request. Just completed it solo with a 1m30s to spare with arcachyr and chicken . Just went back here to report progress ;-)

    build summary:

    - basic arachyr build with manajuma (of course), bakuli, ring of emptyness etc

    - switched out mantle of channeling in the cube for the krelms buff belt

    - dogs for fierce loyalty

    - Swallow your soul rune on Soul Harvest

    - gems, Taeguk, bane of the trapped, and Bane of the Stricken (level ~70ish)

    - Switch to Staff of Chiopetra for the tough bosses (note you can do weapon switch back and forth in the boss rooms)

    - Paragon 637 (one augment)

Not mentioned in guide but I assume Bane of the Stricken is BiS for this conquest since all you do is fight bosses, maintaing a bane of the powerfull effect might be tricky for some of the long runs, and you don't want to stop and kill boss groups.

    /Ivar

Did you use Sacred Harvester in Cube? Is it needed? Isnt more convenient to have Staff of Chiroptera in cube?
wormwood in cube to free up an extra skill on the bar. I don't _think_ sacred harvester is a good choice for this. You really don't have time to stop and try to maintain 10 stacks, since you can't cast soul harvest in chicken form. For Malatheal I think it's "impossible" to enter the boos room with anything close to 10 stacks, but feel free to try. It might be worth it for the extra move speed from the "swallow your soul" rune.
