I'll start to expect a release date the moment I see the rune system fixed and explained.

I wonder how you people sleep at night with all these conspiracy theories.

It is a lot easier to believe that we are being manipulated by aliens everyday.

I don't think they will set a release date before announcing the rune system. Setting a release date is a no-come-back action, so if the rune system is incredibly rejected by fans they won't be able to make big changes on it.

I really believe that they will announce the rune system and then set the release date one or two weeks after that.

I don't know about you, but I'm really liking the frequency which they are keeping up with new pieces of information for minor importance issues.

I'm a software developer and we ever try to fix the big bugs first and then in a week we wipe out the lesser critical bugs so we can say the product is finished with 0 bugs. If they didn't expect to release the game shortly, they wouldn't give so much attention to this minor details such as ToU.

I think that when they announce the rune system the release announcement will be nigh, since the Beta can't test it anyway.

The game is not a year late, right now it is 2-3 months. You probably remembered Half Life 2 because of your upgrade. While you are playing the game or comparing it to another one you probably won't think about the delay at all.

But if the game comes out really buggy with broken mechanics that would be corrected in patches along a year, you probably will remember for the rest of your life how "Diablo 3 was great only after Patch 1.07". And I'm not even talking about the greatly increased complexity to correct game mechanics with patches to a working game in comparison with a beta wipe-everything-out-all-the-time.

I think that Jay is just too right, but we fans want the game so much that we force ourselves to believe that the best option is to release the game right away. But if you ask for a non-fan he will probably agree with Jay.

A lvl 1 char would not be able to inflict damage in a 61 level monster due to Damage Reduction and Regeneration.

    No need to miss attacks.

They won't make the decision to put the Mystic again in this phase of development, neither should they add an artisan in a game patch, so you could probably expect the Mystic (or another artisan) to be back in the first expansion, as they will have a lot of time to test new designs and different ideas throughout a year along with the feedback from the final game.

It is probably the most anticipated game of 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Hope it is not of 2013 also.

I just didn't like also the junk items in D2. In D1 we felt very rewarded when we got a magic item, don't need to throw us lots of completely useless items. I didn't like at all when I killed Mephisto and got 2 quivers of arrows, one stamina potion and 300 gold.

I don't get it. They just got themselves so much against their own claims that it doesn't feel right.

The "don't break the combat" thing was quite nice. As I do like to go back to town sometimes and maybe take a leak or eat something while everyone sold their items and stuff, I really like the idea that you could opt to not do it at all. Imagine that the four players have different ways of picking items, so they would all have to go to town at different times. With 4 players max, 1 less player makes a big difference.

The attributes were simplified so people didn't have to research what each attibute do to understand what's going on. Now we may see a lot of monks investing in strength items because they didn't research about it before. (And I think monks SHOULD benefit from strength).

The removal of identification scrolls is quite nice. I hope that they come up with an explanation for it, like the hero having a big book and needing to look for some information to know about the item, or just meditating to an angel or something like that. It may be a pain in the ass when you spend a lot of time to identify 50 rings you picked up. Maybe making identification instant in town.

I didn't like the removal of the mystic. It would be another artisan to level up and grant new achievements.

Really don't care about the minor details, but I really wanted to know about the rune system. As they are going back in their previous groundbreaking news, they may very well put skill points back in the near future.

Am I the only one that thinks it is wrong to have a skill called POISON dart becoming an Ice Dart and a Fire Dart due to runes?

The snake animation may very well change, but I think that there are some animations more in need of changing. See the Barbarian weapon throw animation, it looks like a giant axe is teleporting a feet away from time to time.

And I'm glad that the "system article" is something solid that doesn't need "polishing" so it can be delayed on and on and on...

It's nice to see it finished, but to think that it was the main reason for the delay when we still don't know anything about the final rune mechanic rewriting, which is by far the most important mechanic of the game, is very misleading.

posted a message on Development Article Soon, What's NOT Delaying the Game, Zarhym on "The Big Meeting"
Here in Brazil we have a band named Restart that is very popular among rich spoiled kids. They scheduled a free (!) show that they couldn't attend to and all those spoiled kids got nerd-raged and gave some interviews speaking things like:

"They don't know who they are messing with! The Restart Family won't accept this lightly!" (by an 11 year old girl)
"They'll see. I'll curse them so much in Twitter!" (by a nerdy 12 year old kid)

So, everytime I see people talking about how Blizzard is losing fans due to the lack of respect and delays, that they are ruining their reputation with everything about D3 or that they will surely regret the way they are driving this game, I can't help thinking about those Restart fans and their spoiled empty threats.

Sorry guys, but you need to chin up and remember that this is just a game and Blizzard has its way of developing games. They've done it for a while and it has always worked fine. Almost every title they released was a ground-breaking success. They know what they are doing and they are not doing anything different than the other games, all of them were delayed, all of them had suspicions and people cursing the repetitive delays and possible new mechanics that made a sequel different from the precursor.

You are much better off waiting for the game and using your time to do something else.

Don't you see, guys? It's so clear! Zharhym knows exatcly when will be the release day and is trying to say inbetween his words so we can read between the lines and finally get it!

It's so obvious, blizzard everyday trying to troll us... :troll:

Now, serious... This is so constantly happening that is getting really boring. Blizzard has always been like this, it doesn't have a strict time schedule, so people try endlessly to find reasons to believe the release is nigh. Everyone would be better off living their lives without worrying so much about this game. There are some pretty good games that were out late last year, so, try to relax and when the game is done, you will undoubtably know some weeks in advance, even if you don't follow the news at all, they will come to you.

Stop trying to think that "there will be no release date announcement" means "we will make the release date announcement", or "sign of the release date".

IMO the most important piece of information is that they may reveal the "final" runesystem before the next Beta patch. People talk a lot about Korean rating and other political stuff, but IMO the main reason for the delay is the runesystem reworking. When it is finished, I expect to get a release date just after they have a notion of the bugs, which shouldn't be a lot and needn't to be all fixed before fixing the release date.
