posted a message on Φ Diablo Lore and Chronology of Events
An old page from DiabloII.net, theres an Elly fellow I think I still got to email about how authentic this page is but so far it has been pretty much consistent with everything I have beside it.
So other than a few changes that don't follow the 5 years skipping frame which does make it look a little more like a general order of events than an accurate time line, it's pretty reliable.

I have a question for the people who say no to angels.
If there are no divine beings, where does the idea of divine beings come from because divine beings are believed exist in almost every culture, nation and tribe from the beginning of human beings?
This is not meant to convince you. I'm just wondering what your responses will be.
Oh but the answer is already imprinted in your question.
You didn't ask why do angels appear in every culture and you also didn't fail to mention that divine beings do not appear in every culture also, the reason for that being exactly why angels, along with other divine beings, are not real and are just a figment of human imagination.
I love science, science is real, it is real because you can see that through out history, through out the world, people who have been objectively observing their surroundings, developing experiments and recording events have come to the same conclusions, this is true in almost every field of science like math, physics, astronomy, chemistry, biology, geology and many other fields.
In fact, if given the chance, meaning without the globalization of information we have today, and given that separated cultures became more technologically advanced over time, we would have continued to see different people getting the same results all over the world even if they didn't even know that other people at a different place were trying to do the same thing and arrived to the same conclusion.
Religion how ever is not like this, this can clearly be seen if one would simply open his eyes, all over the world different cloture has their own different divine beings, from serpentine dragons, to four armed elephants, to shapeless massless colorless “things”, even gods and other beings that are humanoid in form have very distinct differences such as god from China having yellow skins and tights diagonalized eyes or gods from Africa having black skin and huge mouths.
When you imagine an angel you think of a humanoid creature with feathers wings and an halo, but I'd assume that you can imagine both black and white skinned angels, something that your predecessors in middle ages Europe could not even grasp.
As to why different cultures invented their own religions with their own divine beings is a question which has a more psychological nature to it that I can afford to discuss right now since I really want to finish another segment of my site today.

The picture if fake, the fact that all the information about it comes with no date or that no other pictures of the full skeleton exists or that no museum is the world is showing it or that no scientific textbook has changed in the last few years to include information about giant humanoids such as the one in the picture should have sufficed, but even a very quick search would have led you to one of many articles that expose this image as a graphically edited hoax.

About the nefilim, the original word in genesis was referring to the of springs of human women and the children of god, the word nefil means a very tall man and is brought as an example of demythologization when in other mythologies when gods or demigods and humans bred the result was men with god like powers who sometimes even became gods later on, the literal interpretation of the bible here shows you that these were only the sons of god and even then the result is nothing more than tall men, with no extra ordinary powers.
But the more extensive interpretation and more close to reality says that the sons of god is a reference to people of power like judges and that they just took which ever women they liked against their will and raped them, the results were men who were further more degraded as the word nefil comes from the same word as nefel which means something that is degraded (More or less).
The word nefil must have sunk into the ancient Hebrew language and later was used to describe other very tall men in general.

And about the article, I've been spending all morning reading bizarre news from around the world and other nonsense but this is by far the most idiotic composition of letters into words and paragraphs I came across today.

If they weren't Blizzard canon then I would have never bothered to cover them in the first place.
The D&D chapters were written with Blizzard's supervision just like the books and they match in almost every detail to the game and other canon texts written about it.

From Diablo Dungeons & Dragons, To Hell and Back-

    The Gates
Just inside the Gates of the Fortress is a small courtyard. On one side is a shop run by a woman with black hair and wearing heavy silver armor. She has a large book clamped under her left arm and traces glowing, blue-white sigils in the air using both hands. On the other side of the courtyard is a smithy. Outside of it, a man in heavy bronze armor kneels in prayer. The woman introduces herself as Jamella, and the man introduces himself as Halbu.

Interaction: Jamella is a warrior, a mage, and a shopkeeper. She has serious doubts about any mortal's ability to defeat Diablo, but keeps them to herself.

    Jamella: Human female
    Quote: "Hail, champions."

interaction: Halbu is a warrior and a blacksmith. He fervently prays for the success of the PCs when not working in his shop. His faith is unshakable and he comes across as a zealot.

    Halbu: Human male
    Quote: "Hail to you, champions."

Exactly what I meant, and any text file will do.
Also pay attention that some sentences appear not to end with a dot when they actually are, the dot is just spread away, skip the spread and add the dot.

Good people of the Diablo3.com community, I ask for you help now in this hour of need, when the shadow of Diablo III is upon us.

[This is just in, while writing this I've been contacted regarding a job interview at McDonald's, I got the job, don't get too cheerful just yet, this means I'll have even less time.]

For those of you who are not familiar with my work (And a reminder for those of you who are), for the past few years I have been collecting, cataloging and analyzing every little piece of information that was ever written about the world of Diablo.

The good news are, I am now all knowing of Diablo and its lore, the bad news are that most people aren't, in fact, I have come to realize that the average Diablo player is pretty much ignorant of the lore of Diablo, which is not only a bad thing on its own, but poses a problem for people who do wish to know more about the game and have no place to turn to or worst, they turn to people who have no idea what they are talking about.

This is what drove me to begin my latest and greatest work concerning Diablo as of yet, an extensive encyclopedia which will contain every piece of text (and transcripted audio) ever written about the world of Diablo which will of course be available to anyone who is interested.

The problem is the time is running out for me, I only have less then a year until my recruitment to the army and during that time I do intent to be working my ass off for as long as I can (see McDonald's thing above) and once I am recruited theres no telling how much spare time I'll actually have.

Another thing to consider is that the rumors about the coming of the next Diablo title are really massive lately and I want the project to be as ready as it can be before that happens, for the sake of every Diablo fan out there, those that are and those who are to come.

And this is where you come in, most of the text I already either have available in editable format or in a state that requires a certain degree of expertises that most people are not in possession of, yet.
The other 30%, mostly from the D&D chapters, I only have as image files, which means that they first have to be transfered into editable format before I can do anything with them.

What I'm looking for is people who can take these files and rewrite them into stuff I can work with, a simple text file should be fine.

So anyone interested in helping out, just sign up here with an Email address or in a private message if you care for your privacy and I'll be happy to send him his share of the work to be done as soon as possible, I believe you will find that there is plenty to go around.

[Response might come a bit late, I'm toing to sleep.]

"Larzuk possesses a good soul, but at times his mind seems quite unsound. He once asked me for twenty of my finest sheepskins. He said he would fill them with hot air and float like a cloud above the battlefield to spy on Baal's legions. I worry the siege has driven him mad"

posted a message on Zakarum's Corruption.
For lack of will to go into greater detail in numbers due to an upcoming physics test for which I'd like what numbers I have in my head to stay that way, I wont make this exact.
According to The Awakening Diablo was captured in 1103 and since he was the last of the Prime Evils to be captured we can assume that Mephisto was captured before that.
The history of the paladins from the manual says that the Church of Zakarum began to spread towards the west during the mid twelfth century, if my English is correct then thats about 1150 and the use of the Paladins to help spread the word was some time after that.
Now I must admit that I've read this text many times but only now, while answering this question I notice something that I can only describe as something I've missed all this time.
"Some decades later, Paladins were again called into service. During the height of the Time of Troubles, the Church commenced a second campaign of conversion. This time, however, the unconvincible were deemed to be evil.”
For this the Church of Zakarum created the Hand of Zakarum, or the Zakarumites.
So this “Time of Troubles” as they called it was probably the stage in which Mephisto established his control over the Zakarum through the High Council.
We can connect this to the arrival of the Archbishop Lazarus with King Leoric to Khanduras which was overseen by Sankekus, now the Que Hegan (Can be seen in a letter to Lazarus in the manual) and to the year at which Lazarus shattered Diablo's Soul Stone according to The Awakening, 1241.
We know to add the 4 years (At least) for until Diablo is defeated under Tristram and and that the year of Baal's arrival to Arreat was 1265 so we can get an estimated time of 5 to 95 years, I'd say 30 years is a reasonable number. (This is, as can be seen, not a lot of time compared to the time passed since his imprisonment.)
Come to think of it, I don't think it can get any more exact than this, but then again, I don't want to think about how exact it can be right now.

    Quote from "conquistador" »

“Let's imagine that you visit your doctor one day, and he tells you that you have cancer. Your doctor is optimistic, and he schedules surgery and chemotherapy to treat your disease. Meanwhile, you are terrified. You don't want to die, so you pray to God day and night for a cure. The surgery is successful, and when your doctor examines you again six months later the cancer is gone. You praise God for answering your prayers. You totally believe with all your heart that God has worked a miracle in your life.
The obvious question to ask is: What cured you? Was it the surgery/chemotherapy, or was it God? Is there any way to know whether God is playing a role or not when we pray?
Unless you take the time to intelligently analyze this situation, it looks ambiguous. God might have miraculously cured your disease, as many Christians believe. But God might also be imaginary, and the chemotherapy drugs and surgery are the things that cured you. Or your body's immune system might have cured the cancer itself.
When your tumor disappeared, in other words, it might simply have been a complete coincidence that you happened to pray. Your prayer may have had zero effect.
How can we determine whether it is God or coincidence that worked the cure? One way is to eliminate the ambiguity. In a non-ambiguous situation, there is no potential for coincidence. Because there is no ambiguity, we can actually know whether God is answering the prayer or not.
That is what we are doing when we look at amputees.
Think about it this way. The Bible clearly promises that God answers prayers. For example, in Mark 11:24 Jesus says, "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." And billions of Christians believe these promises. You can find thousands of books, magazine articles and Web sites talking about the power of prayer. According to believers, God is answering millions of their prayers every day.
So what should happen if we pray to God to restore amputated limbs? Clearly, if God is real, limbs should regenerate through prayer. In reality, they do not.

Why not? Because God is imaginary. Notice that there is zero ambiguity in this situation. There is only one way for a limb to regenerate through prayer: God must exist and God must answer prayers. What we find is that whenever we create a unambiguous situation like this and look at the results of prayer, prayer never works. God never "answers prayers" if there is no possibility of coincidence.”

You can about this topic in greater detail on http://www.whydoesgodhateamputees.com/

Now for your example, it is very common for people who do not believe in a god to turn to prayer in their hour of need, but that is certainly not a proof for any god.
When a person has been brainwashed all of his life to believe in something then expecting him to go back to that belief when he is in need is obvious, its like cult members going through rehabilitation.
Also, you can't diminish the behavioral effect of family members and friends and society general on a persons mind when it is quite disoriented.
And finally, there is also a lot of missionary activities in hospitals, people enforcing their beliefs on the sick and the hopeless, thats low, thats not proof of any god.

As far as I know, there are a lot of tribes in Africa who practice exorcism when needed but that doesn't offer proof for your god to exist because they don't believe in your god and their exorcisms do have a recorded history of working.
Now as for exorcisms done in Europe and other places, some cases involve people who are really into getting a lot of attention, there are others who suffer from severe psychological trauma induced by religion, this is something that we now can explain very well the phenomenon of stigmata, and there are of course the mentally ill who's close family might not be so willing to face the situation and would much like to believe that the person has a demon or an evil spirit stuck in his skull.

The part about not taking a chance and praying to not get burned in hell for all eternity, thats called Pascal's wages.
Pascal stated that praying, it has nothing to be gained from at best, at least has nothing to be lost from at worst.
Thats argument is wrong, its wrong because your putting all of your money on one religion, most likely a religion which very clearly states that is you don't follow its teachings, you will be damned for all eternity.
Well the thing is, your religion did not invent the wheel on that one, almost every non existing deity based religion has this rule or a different version of it, so while your believing in one religion for the sake of not going to hell, you are going to hell by the teachings of many others.
This is true even between religions who seemingly follow the same god, like jehovah for Mormons, Muslims, Christians, Jews and more and the many sects of each.
This is very true between religions who don't believe in jehovah like Hinduism, Paganism, Chinese religion and countless others.

If someone told you things that made you open your eyes and the the world for what it is, and that same person later turned back on the same principals he opened you to in a moment of great weakness, that doesn't mean what he told you wasn't true.
A god “becomes” not true once you stop believing in it, evidence on the other hand, objective analytics of the world around you don't behave that way.

Diablo is not such a modular game that it needs constant exploration and coverage, everything there is to know about the game strategy, statistics and character and monster data already exists at Arreate Summit, well maybe except a proper builds data base.

The idea of the Wiki revolution is not to hog all the rights for the information to yourself but to share them with other people, the fact that a Diablo Wiki is already out there shouldn't be so deterring.
Last time I checked they were about 20 people who can barely keep it in the poor condition that it is in, in other words, your free to give them a helping hand any time you feel like it.

Another option is to help me, which will most likely never be as prestigious as editing a Wiki I'll admit, but definitely important if you care about not leaving the community of Diablo world wide in such an ignorant state for the lore of the game.

It will be about 6 more weeks until my last test for the year, only once thats over with I'll be able to continue work.

This has turned into a very interesting topic.
I say yes to abortion, yes because a person has has the right to decide if or when or with whom he would give life to a conscious human being of his genetic traits or not.
The decision is not to be made by any government official, doctor or priest and it should be free to make under any circumstances for either male or female starting with various birth control devices and medication and up to an active termination of a developing fetus.
The ten commandments, which I presume most of you tend violate on a weekly basis, speak of murder in two simple words, don't kill.
How ever, the rules of the bible also state that in a case which giving birth can result in the death of the mother, the pregnancy must be aborted under the reasoning that the action is taken in order to save a life, but the life of who?, according to the bible, a fetus in the womb of a woman is not a leaving thing.

posted a message on Characters/classes we want to see/be in Diablo 3
I'd like to open with a swear word and then something about not being able to read the last book and if anyone could spare some spoilers it would be much appreciated.

As for the books, As far as I know, all of them are the combined work of both the main writer and Chris Metzen, that makes them cannon.

The Church of the Triune and the Cathedral of Light are religions that existed in the past and not much if any remains from them today

The dominant religion in Sanctuary in the time of the second Diablo game is the Zakarum, a religion that follows the teachings of Akarat, handed down to him my the Archangel Yaerius.

In the east, it had replaced the old religion Skatsim which was followed by the Taan clan and probably by the Ammuet and Vizjerei as well.

The teachings of the Zakarum are aimed at the common man and it has gained great influence in the eastern part of Sanctuary as well also taking root in the kingdoms of the west.

It is however not followed by almost all of the playable classes in the game. Necromancers, Sorceresses, Barbarians, Druids, Rouges, Sorcerers and amazons all have their own religions.

The Paladins abandoned the church of the Zakarum when they learned of its corruption and the Assassins, though there is no indication as to what religion they follow, were probably the first to know about the corruption of the church.

Only the Warriors from the first game might follow the Zakarum but this is problematic since lore states that the Warrior class consists of Mercenaries as well Paladins and other warriors of the land.
