it works with SSS, but not the EP's (so its pretty bad) . Everything is about the EPs on Ulianas thats why you roll Ep damage on boots and helm and not sss damage on shoulders.

It does work, you need to unequip madstone from the cube, proc the mythic rythm, apply EP manually, then cast SSS.
Using madstone will override your buffed EP with a new one while Gundo's keeps the buffed EP alive.

I've been running this build for a while now, and I have to say im not that impressed anymore.

The build felt really good in the beginning but now im being outperformed by every DH running the fire/multishot variant.

I even have a half decent ancient calamity, but its simply not enough damage and seems to get boring really fast.

EDIT: i'm more and more confident that we won't need RoRG; this will leave a lot of good jewelry options and an eventual immunity slot.

Im running cubed CoE aswell, it hits like a truck when its on the right element. But I would also love a second immunity.
Im having the most troubles with thunderstorm on higher grifts

To use DD you need to cube RoRG anyway. Going full offensive requires RoRG to stack as many bonuses as possible.
If you don't cube RoRG, you either miss F/R (which is not advised) or DD. The second option seems more likely, it all depends on what we will need to have to tackle high level GR. For farming status, i don't think we need either immunity amu (i'd go for a good rolled Hellfire).
You can Cube DD, Equip full set and Hunters Wrath? RoRG is optional

I am currently in the servers, sifting through all the shit from Season 3. I will be setting this build up and pushing grifts later tonight. Will report back in a few hours.

Assuming you go with Calamity as weapon (as it seems the only option) test both Cirri and DML. I suppose that since AoE is become kinda a big deal, DML will turn out better.
Also test different legendary gems setup (Zei, SS, IceBlink).

EDIT: is it possible to throw Frostburn into the equation? maybe equipping hunter's wrath and cubing the gloves.

I just completed some tests aswell on the ptr and kinda came to the same conclusion as Zarhrezz, Bane of the stricken is indeed not viable.

But the hungering arrow build aint dead yet tough :D with iceblink, BotT, Simplicity its still a pretty good build.

    Also tested 1-hxbow/quiver vs 1hxbow/1-hxbow.

The second xbow adds absolutely nothing (main hand being calamity) except a socket for a weapon gem and a legendary attribute.

But the attributes on the quivers are way better for this build, so a quiver seems to be the way to go.

Also wanted to test the ninth cirri value as a quiver.

I tested on Ghom with while being naked except for the ninth cirri (buriza cubed) and a low level xbow.

I found that the maximum number of hits are, 5 hits (4 pierces), due to the arrow despawning after a certain flight time.

This is when ghom is standing next to you, when he is further away you usually hit about 3/4 times.

When fighting packs you get 5 hits more often (cant really see if it hits more than that, cuz of all the numbers flying all over).

Another negative thing about hungering arrow is the fact that walls and pillars absorb the arrow, so when a mob is standing against a wall you wil only hit it once.

All in all its still a nice quiver for the build but not as nice as the theories suggest.

Dropping Simplicity might actually be the best option, looking at it pure damage wise (I will mis that healing though :QQ: ).

Simplicity lv 50 adds 50% damage.

But that damage is additive with all the +skill damage we got already.

+45% Hungering Arrow damage on gear.

    +60% Hunters Wrath damage.

    +100% Depth Diggers.

    +50% Simplicity.

So its either have +205% skill damage or +255% skill damage with Simplicity.

When you look at it that way, the gem only adds about 25% damage.

I did not test this theory though.

Are you sure Cull is just additive? because the diablo planner shows it as multiplicative.

You can see this when you hover over your skills when using the planner.

All in all its alot of damage to make up, it would be better to keep bane of the trapped and cull the weak, and somehow find a way to chill them with some legendary or something.

When I take the perfect build link at the top of this post, clone the build and swap the xbow for a Calamity with the same specs, I get the following.

Top image is the one with Calamity at 2,19 aps.

Bottom image is the original one at 1,51 aps.

Both still have same Area damage ect, I changed nothing.

The below image shows the numbers I see when I hover over the Hungering arrow skill.

    Hungering Arrow Damage

When we do some calculations with these numbers I get the following:

    Calamity build:

    756 K dmg, 2,67 aps = 2018,52 K (non pierce, dps)

    756 K (hit 1)
    1285,2 K (pierce 1)
    2184,84 K (pierce 2)
    3714,228 K (pierce 3)
    -------------------------- +
    8779,428 K
    8779,428 K * 2,67 = 23441,07 K dps

    Original build:
    955 K dmg, 1,84 aps = 1757,2 K (non pierce, dps)

    955 K (hit 1)
    1623,5 K (pierce 1)
    2759,95 K (pierce 2)
    4691,915 K (pierce 3)
    -------------------------- +
    10030,365 K

    10030,365 K * 1,84 = 18455,87 K dps

This calculation does not take Area damage into account, but that wil not change the numers.

(Hitting a higher area damage vs. hitting lower area damage but more hits)

I dont know how accurate these numbers from the planner are but it shows more damage for calamity and ofcourse your party will do more damage aswell. :D

    Edit:

The diablo planner does not take into account the +30% attack speed from Hunters Wrath.

To mimic this I changed the +20% attack speed on the quiver to +50%.

This gives the Calamity build 2,67 aps and the original build 1,84 aps.

I changed my calculations to reflect this change.

Just realized the bane of the stricken variant is off the table.

You need the Iceblink gem in order to proc bane of the trapped and cull the weak.

You could drop bane of the trapped but it would require alot of bane of the stricken stacks in order to make up that lost damage.

So it just aint worth it.

Ofcourse I dont mind if you would ad the build to the summary, I'd be honered :D

Would you happen to know if the secondary (pierced) hits from hungering arrow count as a hit for broken promises?

If so you could just drop the RoRG and use broken promises.

Last and final build I'm going to post, I swear it :D

I love the idea. I have a few questions and comments about the build.

    1) Why Frostburn?

    2) What happened to Awareness?

    3) 2-handed Xbows are strictly better. The loss might be made up by Marked for Death. However, why are you both using Calamity and then equipping Marked for Death as a skill on the bar? Grim Reaper isn't as strong as you would think. (Also see question 6) It would be stronger to use Companion on the bar instead.

    4) 37% crit chance and no Iceblink? That's a bit low...

    5) Attack speed is not particularly strong for the build. It is good, don't get me wrong, but even with an Etrayu with the same damage output as my 2-handed Xbow, the attack speed and 20% cold couldn't make up the difference. The reason this build is crazy is because the 70% extra piercing damage takes already large hits and makes them obscene. You can't get anywhere close with a lower damage weapon.

    6) You're forsaking Area Damage entirely in favor of Grim Reaper. Why?

First off, thanks for the feedback!

I dont have a level 70 DH yet, so that might clear up some akward choices I made.

I used to play only WD and Wizzard but I wanna start playing DH next season so I tried to make a build.

I didnt know Calamity did not use the rune equipped, that was the only reason I had MfD on the bar.

I also added some extra Area Damage to make up for that.

I wanted to make a build that uses Bane of the Stricken, thats why I put everything on attackspeed, dont know if it is any good but it seems cool.

I tweaked the crit chance abit so its higher now.

The reason for the frostburn is that I had a slot left thanks to RoRG and I thought Frostburn would be a nice piece to add for some extra crowd control, is it really that much worse then the wichting hour?

The 1Handed X-Bow/Quiver was chosen because of the nice legendary affixes and they added more attackspeed to boost that bane of the stricken.

Tweaked build would look something like this:

    http://ptr.d3planner.com/683069096

Edit: just now realised you can equip a 2-hander and a Quiver :facepalmsign:

If I swap the 1h for the 2hander I get this:

    http://ptr.d3planner.com/716077807

It seems Im actually loosing dps that way?

Hmm that actually looks really nice, but with that build would it be possible to keep up archon permanently? if not you might wanna take up cubed RoRG instead of unity so you could swap the helmet for the Swami :D
