I say this as an individual who has sunk thousands of hours into both D2 and D3, and who genuinely enjoys them both for different reasons.

no, a diablo 2 remaster would be 1000x better than the parody of diablo that was d3.
and still u are here on a D3 forum :/
D2 is still doing baal run 24/7 so D3 ftw
I fail to see any true difference between D2 and D3 end game. D2 is endless Baal runs. D3 is endless GR runs. You may think there is some variety in them, but there really isn't. Essentially the only difference is the feeling of progression with a power creep with endless Paragon grinding.
At least D2 had PvP.

Sorry, but while I am not above giving someone the benefit of the doubt, I think these numbers are simply ridiculous.
96 days or more accurately 2324 hours from release date until today (give or take an hour or so)
Removing JUST 3 hours a day to sleep / misc takes away 288 hours 2036 (virtually impossible for NORMAL humans to maintain for 3 months straight) This DOES NOT account for any downtime, patches, Hotfixes, or other unscheduled maintenance reasons.
The numbers shown below show the amount per hour with 0 hours removed since launch/ subtracting 3 per hour as shown above.
417851 Elite kills - 179.8 per hour / 205 per hour
5754066 Total kills - 2476 per hour / 2854 per hour
Every day for 21 hours a day. More time off makes the numbers go up much more.
Yeah, maintaining that for 3 months straight without stopping is easy as pie.
For the record, I am not comparing this to myself or anyone else, merely stating that these numbers are virtually unattainable for 99 percent of HUMAN players.

I honestly like this idea. However, it would only pay off to those who are willing to just stick in games for a long duration. That could lead to more people complaining about how it is detrimental to those who want to do fast runs.
I personally would use it, but I have a feeling that something like this would be frowned upon by a large percentage of the player base.

Babbling, kiddo, conspiracy ?
After reading my post, I really fail to see any of those things in there. I never once said anything about a conspiracy.
It is a simple fact that players are leaving. Choices like THIS are not helping that fact. The player base is decreasing with every new patch/ hotfix.
There is no "Having to" switch gear just before a kill. That is a practice that certain people do and it is their choice. It is not a prerequisite. I for instance "Do Not" switch gear, but I think that there should be a choice whether we do or not. The changes that have been made to this game have in fact made players select certain skills/ builds/ gear. The very things that Blizzard stated while marketing the game when first announced and throughout production they were designing it to combat.
Telling us to play the game one way is something that has not been done, but when you remove the viability of skills by nerfing their duration/ effectiveness, removing/ decreasing drops in certain areas, or requiring that massive amounts of Resistances in order to survive in Inferno as melee classes, that IS, in fact dictating how the game needs to be played.
That is not a conspiracy theory. It is a point of fact, and if you cannot see that, I am sorry.

Curious who your post is directed at ?

I shook his hand at the launch party in Irvine......one of the moments I regret most in my life.
How can one person/ QA team/ company screw up a game so monumentally ?

Let us play the game.
Quit tinkering and driving away players with every single patch. You are removing EVERY chance for us to improve in a FARMING DRIVEN GAME. You nerf everything that will keep players here and not shoot them over to TL2 or GW2.
I choose Option 6: LEAVE IT ALONE

Patch 1.04
All Treasure Goblins/ Pygmys/ Bandits/ Seekers will be removed from the game. We felt these were being farmed too much, and that is not part of our core concept for the game.
Additionally ALL bosses/ sub-bosses will drop 1 less item per additional time you have killed them, regardless of difficulty. This can be a Normal/ Magical/ Rare/ Set/ Legendary. Assuming that you have not farmed the boss at all, and simply killed them 1 time per difficulty the same boss you killed in normal will have 3 less item drops in inferno. This will discourage multiple runs on bosses, which again is contradictory to our core game concept. Gold drops will also be drastically reduced upon each subsequent kill on a boss or sub-boss.
Only Elite monster packs wiill give Nephalem Valor buffs. Champion packs will no longer provide an additional stack, nor will they refresh the buff.
In addition NV Buffs will now last for a duration of 5 minutes. 30 Minutes was simply too long and allowed for far too much exploration between monster kills.

Remove one farming spot after another in a farming-centric game. Freaking ridiculous. Remove this, remove that. Isn't this something that should have been covered in QA and testing. I realize that it is a Balance issue, but enough is enough.
How about we focus on stopping the botting by gold farmers with mutiple accounts running 24/7.....wait, nevermind, once the RMAH opens, Blizzard will see a piece of that action.
Carry on then.

The bottom line is that it should be a challenge to attain 99, but it should not be as outrageously time consuming as it was in D2. A bonus for 99 would be nice, but not all too important in my eyes.

Blizzard isn't exactly known for being concerned how long it takes to put out games, however they do have one of the strongest and most loyal fan bases of any major gaming company. They know they can afford to pretty much feed us scraps every 6 months or so and they KNOW we will sit at the end of the table and wait for the main course to be delivered, whether that be in 6 months, 1 year, or 2 years down the road.
If Blizzard puts out a game that is of the caliber of games they are known for releasing, then the end result will be a game that we will love, and is DEFINITELY worth the wait.
The truth is that although all of us don't like the fact it wont be out for a while, probably 8-9 out of every 10 people complaining about it and saying they won't buy it will STILL shell out the cash when it gets released.
