Diablo would never work as an MMO. Have any of you played one? The server load would be tremendous, nigh catastrophic. You couldn't have enough shitterlings for everyone to kill unless you drastically reduced the kill speed, and then it just wouldn't be the same game at all.
....
Cheers,
SmashBoy (wonders why everything has to have its own MMO)
It doesnt have to be fast passed hack n' slash the way the series is. Being an MMO, it would by nature hae to slow down a bit. But there is no reaseon why dungeons/crypts couldn't be filled with a shitload of monsters coming at you. It works in other MMOs, so why would it sudenly not work for a diablo MMO?
The more I think about it, the more a full respec sounds like a good idea. I thought it would hurt replayablity, but the only reason it played a factor in replayablity was the fact that you were forced to play again just to get a different build. I love diablo, but I dont have the time to play the same class 3+ times just to try different builds. If I play the same class again, I want to do it because it was a fun and i want to, not becasue I have to.
because you pretty much just described the hunter. If thats one of the classes ill be furious. An amazon with a pet....? This game won't have anything taken from wow except for things like single unit items (unfortunately), the bags and other *smallllll* similarities. I doubt there will be items that look alike, I doubt there will be guns and I doubt there will be another class that can have pets, unless its the Monk class someone was talking about earlier. Dont mean to sound agressive, but i hate when people compare diablo and wow. . .
I dont want to turn D3 into WoW, and the class I discribed isnt only from WoW, its also the ranger from D&D. And I didn't say anything about guns, or item look alikes. If you want to wine about how much you hate WoW, then find another thread. This thread for class discussion, and thats a class I think that would fit well into diablo.

Thats an awesome idea. I was wanting to see the golem brought back in D3, but I ddint even think that maybe it could be a skill tree for the mage class. I was planning on playing the WD first, but if they make a mage class with golems, I am jumping on that faster than your mom that one night I was really drun... uh... nevermind...
NO Diablo will not be turned into world of warcraft. We wan't a hack N' Slash game not a MMO.
understand that no one wants to see the traditional diablo "hack N' slash" disappear. I'm completely against a diablo MMO if it meant that there would never be another fast passed diablo. That said, there is literally no reason why they couldn't make an MMO in the diablo universe and theme. The story wouldn’t have to be strictly "kill big D". It could have a whole new story based in the world with killing diablo being a long string of epic quests at the end of the game.
Also, making a WoD would totally allow players to pick classes like angels and demons "or at least hells minions". There is a whole world of possibility in this. All you have to do is take the time to think about it rather than shouting "NO" just because you don’t want to see diablo hack n' slash die out. If you're going to say this is a bad idea, at least give a good argument for why not.
I wouldn't mind it as long as they kept up with producing the regular Diablo series also. I like the HacknSlash style. MMO could be interesting if they did it right though.
exactly. I would never want to see a Word of Diablo replace the traditional diablo series, but I dontthink it would hurt to have it. And I think Blizz is more than capable for making this game and making it very well.
Assuming its done right, I would make the switch form WoW to WoD without looking back.
Imagine if you got super unlucky and had to spam potions, BAM BAM BAM dead.
seriously. That wouldnt be cool at all. Kicking a barrel open only to find its a bomb or has a badguy in it is one thing, but drinking an exploding potions is a whole nother story.
Diablo = small co-op play
Diablo isn't MMO
Therefore and Diablo MMO = not Diablo but some twisted spin-off made of fail.
Your honour, the defence rests.
Diablo in its curent form is a small co-play game. There is no reason why Blizz couldnt make a larger MMO world in a diablo universe. True, the thing I love about diablo is the small population in a game ( 8 people) and the fast play style, but I would still enjoy the diablo universe set in a much larger populated game with more indepth storyline for quests.
Exploding books, exploding chests, exploding potions, exploding corpses, exploding scrolls, those nasty traps might also heighten the player tension.
Example: Exploding potion trap
>> Barbarian: "let me drink this Healing Potion, I am low on health" (Health @ 35%)
>> *Healing Potion explodes upon usage*
>> Barbarian: "Sh*t" (Health @ 1%)
Exploding scroll trap
>> WitchDoctor "Jack pot, a free town portal scroll, I can escape from hell hole!"
>> *Town portal scroll explodes upon usage"
>> WitchDoctor "Fuk"
Exploding traps items just looks like the real one, even Deckard Cain cannot see the difference!
OK, fuk that. I'd just get pissed at the game if they did that.
That's a good point. How about this, then- You get a set number of skill points you can re-spec each level, and you can save them up for later use if you don't want to re-spec anything at the moment. That is, each level you get one skill point, and one re-spec point. Leaves a lot of flexibility and a lot of replay value, I think.
I kinda like this idea, or atleast something like it. This would also leave room to goof around with a build as a lvl while not leaving too much room to completly switch builds.
I would love to see a "World of Diablo" Of course it would be completly a different game from diablo as we know it, but I would still like to see a MMORPG set in the diablo universe
Why do you people hate on WoW so much? I wasnt even talking/thinking about WoW. Would you rather I said ranger? OH NO! That would mean I'm talking about D&D! OMG!!
Seriously, just chill.
Anyway, who else would like to see a bow class combined with lycanthropy?
I also thought about respecing when you lvl, but assuming lvl cap is 99, you would be able to respec 97 times. Even you you could only respec every 10 lvls, that means 9 respecs. I think you should only be able to respec once, twice tops. This would leave room for error/flexability while still leaving the class replayable. Right?

Wells that doesnt mean they wont still give +skill items. The items might just stack on some skills, not all.
