When I posted this I was merely stating that it looked like the waypoint in the fortress, not stating it was the exact one. I just want to say that it indeed looked like he was hovering over a waypoint.

Yes, according to the Lore FAQ Post, the soulstones were shards taken by Tyrael and given to the horadrim, and Izual was the person responsible for showing the Prime Evils how to corrupt them.

I kinda posted that they still had some kind of anchor in sanctuary. I believe 100% in this, unless I missed some lore that states they were destroyed later on.

Hey guys, I wanted to get some feedback to feed my curiosity. The picture with Tyrael hover above a circle with markings glowing around it look similar to the waypoint in the Pandemonium Fortress, can this possibly be Tryael trying to use one? If so, the only time I would think he needs to "port" is maybe TO Sanctuary. The Waypoint in Act 4 has white symbols around it just like the picture, only its square not circular. Food for thought

Does anyone have any theories on the whole "Cain goes to Tristram to investigate new stirrings of evil" bit? Would be nice if someone knowledgeable in lore could connect what was "left" in tristram that would attract Cain.. Scrolls that may hint to the prime evils main plan maybe, since the destruction of the worldstone was Baals main goal. This post has quotes saying that what happened was not the demise of the prime evils and that it was "illusory", correct me if Im wrong, but that means the prime evils wanted the world stone destroyed, and that they 'took one for the team" in order to accomplish their real goal. Anyway, theories on why, or what made cain return would be interesting to explore.

Is it a possibility that he IS an angel? Being diablo would seem too easy of a twist for the depth of the lore. I like to think to myself sometimes that he is an angel (neutral to demons and angels alike) set out to keep sanctuary safe himself from being conquered. Stupid theory, I know, but his long life, knowledge, and his desire to help so much, makes me believe that he is the opposite of what he says he is. Id like to say he is Inarius himself, but we know he is imprisoned, perhaps an erraned boy, given long life as a token to help Inarius until his return? Diablo 3 site does say that Cain returned to tristram to find new clues of terror or something. This means he knew something was gonna happen, or he returned to try and find a way to release Inarius from his imprisonment. After all, if Inarius had his way, sanctuary would live in peace right? Him and Cain do have alot of goals in common. My two cents, I'm just loving this lore forum, and need more to ponder on.

So I was reading through all of the lore threads (imperius thread is my favorite), and I see people always wondering how cain lives twice as long as most other npcs. I am making this post because I was playing diablo 2 the today, and talked to Tyrael in act 4, if you Gossip he says, "Long ago I swore to watch over the Horadrim and their descendants. As Deckard Cain is the last of their esteemed order, I will no all him to perish here so far from the lands of his birth. Be at ease hero, i know that he is your friend, he shall come to no harm."

Does this prove that it is Tyrael in the metoer that lands near Cain in the cathedral? Knowing now that Tyrael took an oath, that means he would always be watching over Cain right? My wheels are spinning on this now, to the people who came up with the wonderful threads on imperius, I would like to hear your take on this.
