Yeah, this is yet another reason I'm glad I stuck with Snow Leopard (and I have no plans to ever upgrade)... Been playing through D2x over the last while. Just got up to Diablo himself a few days ago. Ahhhh, so classic!
Do you have a link to any official source stating that 2 million beta invites were given out? I don't believe that's even remotely possible. I just found an article that states they expect around 3.5 million sales by the end of the year. I somehow doubt they gave out nearly as many beta keys as actual sales they expect to make this year. Actually, based on info I can find, it seems like they only gave out maybe a couple hundred thousand beta keys. Still, if you have an actual legit source for this claim of 2 million people getting into the beta, I'd love to see it.
You clearly didn't understand my point about the LoL skins. What I was saying is, "more pixels in a computer game" clearly has value to people, considering they are actually willing to pay money for them. So, by extension, this beta-reward sigil clearly has value. Therefore, the beta players are getting doubly rewarded. Does that make sense?
I don't even actually care that much. I just think it's a total dick move by Blizzard, and I'm being vocal about it because I feel they should be called out on it. They are basically trolling everyone who didn't get into the beta. That's all there is to it. I can't believe how much anger you're projecting onto me and the words I wrote. It's pretty messed up, actually. Chill the hell out man.
Exactly what is this "in-game content" you speak of? A FoS? Big deal. A Sigil? OMG GAME-BREAKING!!!!
Seriously, get over yourself and your sense of entitlement, if this really bothers you that much, then your life must be pathetic.
Actually, I'm just making some pretty obvious points. So, if the banner sigil doesn't matter, then are the Tyrael wings and exclusive dyes from the CE also of no value? Do you realize that some game developers make almost their entire profits solely on aesthetic items in games? For example, character skins in League of Legends that have zero effect on gameplay, and yet people will shell out $5 or more just for one skin.
So, you're getting all rage/troll mode because I'm unhappy about randomly-chosen people getting more content in their copy of Diablo 3 than I am. It's actually 100% rational of me to be irritated by this. Can anyone provide a rational explanation for why it's wrong of me to be frustrated about this? That's a rhetorical question, because you can't. A very large number of people are frustrated about this issue, and they are not wrong for feeling that way. That's something you apparently don't understand, but it would be pretty cool if you did, because you're actually harassing me for having an absolutely-legitimate complaint about a piece of content that SOME players will get and that I (and 99% of other D3 players) will not.
It's a graphic to people who dedicated time to helping Blizzard test their product. Big whoop. The world will keep turning.
Well, that's not actually true. It's a graphic (and Feat of Strength) given to people who got randomly chosen to get access to the beta - whether they played the beta or even downloaded the client at all. That's right, if you got the golden ticket, and you never even glanced at your bnet account, for some reason you get extra content in your post-launch copy of Diablo 3.
Yes, let's reward those who were already rewarded by getting half a year of beta access... meanwhile everyone else who didn't get the golden ticket now gets screwed out of a permanent piece of exclusive in-game content for their battle.net account? How is that even remotely fair? Cool, thanks for rubbing it in even more that I didn't get into the beta (nor did any of my family members who were all opted in). Between this and Blizzard not allowing "Appear Offline" (and requiring constant connectivity no matter what), I'm seriously astonished at just how much they manage to alienate their player-base.
Oh yeah what really confuses me is what the actual motive was to even give these rewards. Since you get the Feat of Luck and exclusive Banner Sigil solely by having received the beta invite or entering a beta key, and not even necessarily even downloading or installing the game, I really cannot understand the reasoning behind this move. If it doesn't even matter if they played the game at all, why not give this stuff to everyone who participated in the open beta? I just don't get it. "Good job, you got randomly chosen! Here's a reward for that!" ... Who comes up with this stuff?
Actually testing to see what happens when I comment on this thread now that I migrated my account to the new type. Check out my wallpaper while you're at it!
Edit: Cool thing about this wallpaper is it features artwork from the D3 site that is no longer on the site. Nice rare little snapshot of their artwork from the site - mistakes and all!
Woops sorry I never got back to you on this man.. kinda disappeared for a while there eh?! I forget how they looked, I think one looked decent and the other seemed kinda positioned weirdly. Let's see.. guess I can grab a photo with my digital camera... haha
Yeah that resolution smoeone mentioned above is correct. Yeah JPG, PNG, probably GIF, probably BMP and PICT, probably TIFF.... but yeah might as well stick with PNG or JPG.
The trick with an iPhone wallpaper is to take advantage of how it's layed out on the screen. It only really shows when the screen is locked, and it shows some user interface elements over the top and bottom edges.. here are acouple pics that illustrate how it's shown:
Only problem is I can't seem to take a screenshot in that mode so i can't figure out exactly how many pixels high have the translucent overlay at the top and bottom.
