You ideas suck....why do you people Insist on posting this crap? I gave shit to Elfien Lied for doing the same nonsense YEARS ago.... He wanted a Japenese Ninja in the game, SIGH

youre ideas arent original, they are not pleasing, unfitting and they are useless.

You posted a thread about how Blizzard ( A perfectionist company) would release the same damn character classes just with name changes... How would that benefit anyone?

Were trying to progress here, not go backwards.
    Original Ideas

    or

Innovation/Expansion on old ideas that do not produce confusion.

P.S. Elfen ill never foget that god damn Ninja class...its so pathetic to even suggest. He had moves with throwing stars and all ninja sword attacks.

posted a message on Need Help with D2 install on Vista
So ive recently run into a problem installing diablo2/lod on my Vista rig.

ive googled it and come across multiple threads about the problem and ive tried a few "solutions" that worked for these people back in 07. they dont seem to be helping me much, so does anyone have an updated troubleshoot for this problem?

    some things to consider:

-At first when i would click the LOD icon on desktop to play i would get a compatability issue and a prompt telling me the Expansion disk is not in tray when it is.

    - after going online i changed the compatability issues to 256 and back nothing seemed to change it

-i also did the blizzard video test and changed it to direct draw and that seem to ATTEMPT to open the game up, but that ended quickly.

-THEN, while still searching online the Game opened 10minutes later randomly. the colors were all distorted but it allowed me to download the updated patch, however, now the icon does not respond at all. double click it and nothing happen.

sidenote: my computer is now running is if memory is being used up (i.e. lagg on typing this message out) so i opened my start task manager and there are 3 seperate GAME processes running all of which I cannt end/close.

please someone help me with this problem, I will be restarting my computer right now.

this whole imperius story started to really grow on me..it really make sense...iits more logical than tyrael beeing corrupted..

if anything it makes me more confident that SOME parts of heaven are being corrupted. either this Imperius angel and/or Tyrael.

honestly i totally see tyrael helping us battle the council of Heavens Angels for becoming corrupt and selling out Heaven.

    that would be tight.

I think one thing can be done to silence 90% of all these critics and makes total sense.

Light Radius in common sense situations. i.e. dungeons, caves, cellars, etc. etc.

This way Blizzard is acknowledging that they are aware of the community's concerns. The community sees that Blizzard is listening and has altered the game in a way to appeal more to the core franchise audience.

adding in a light radius in sections of the game where it WOULD be dark in real life, would be ideal middle stance of Blizzard to still expres their terrific artistic talents AND keep the game dark, scary, and more true to the previous iterations.

I cant see how anyone could disagree with this stance.

i think its because this is a move that should have went to a new and revised Necro for diablo3.

saddest thing about it is, blizzard is putting so much effort into putting a new backstory and lore section for its new character class Witch Doctor and most wont even appreciate it because the class at face-value resembles the D2 necromancer too much.

sigh i like the new character but they should have made em a little different than the necro with the summons and curses and given the zombie wall to a new necromancer

....actually fuck it why do i care, as long as the necro as least makes an appearance in the expansion pack for d3 ill be fine.

Ok, I think you are misunderstanding me.

The prices would be set between the people trading. If someone doesn't want to trade for gold, they don't have to. It would be a free market. The players decide the prices.

than you ARE agreeing with everything im saying, because that implies exactly what ive been pushing and doesnt add any further concerns.

you CAN already trade for gold amounts determined by the 2 people trading in diablo2
....you are calling for no further changes than my current proposal which is

    - elimination of dupes
    - elimination of mules
    - addition of many many more items
    - make gold more useful for things; i.e. upgrading your stash size

I believe that if gold becomes more valuable, people could, and would use it in trades. And I also think there is nothing wrong with that.

There is most certainly nothing wrong with that. and seems Legit in a perfect world.... but having 100% of diablo3 users agree on 1 specific amount of gold on every item is impossible.

and having a built-in system of pricing by blizzard (negating the fact of how annoying that long that would take for them to develop) would never have 100% agree either.

    ill put it bluntly:

if i wanted a specific charm that someone had and had an soj (the only item the other guy wanted) i would trade it. Because its an agreement of two players.

i wouldnt care if according to others i could have gotten 3 hrs or whatnot for it...I got what i needed and so did the other player.

on the contrary: if i was told that my soj would get a set price of 40,000,000 gold i would not do it...because the chances of me finding that exact charm for the exact price of gold (even though every item could never be specifically priced as a global consesus) would be Very slim.

I see what you are saying, and we agree, there's just some confusion in communication.

I think if someone wants to trade gold for items (player to player), they can. In fact, I think it should be common, because gold would serve a function. Just that function wouldn't be buying items from NPC's.

And look back on the last page and see who posted that shit about NPC's offering services. ;)

yes but doing what you just suggested brings up questions:

    1) how does one put an exact price in gold on an item (especially with the influx of new items that diablo3 will introduce)

    2) and how do you honestly believe that everyone will consider merchant/npc services equal to that of the Item you traded (especially when that item will be Harder to come by, given, again, that there is an influx of new items introduced)

magefist for ------> "x"amount of gold -----> poses a problem to land on a specific amount, given the fact that Services from npcs might not be needed by the one trading the magefist, or doesnt agree that the services are worth that of the item.

getting an entire community to apply by these methods into a global consesus is impossible. flat out impossible.

having an open trade system where the 2 individuals trading can compromise cooperatively IS possible. because it relies on only 2 people, not an entire communities consensus on what the price of magefists should be in "x" amount of gold.

nzkobc could you just elaborate and what system you find would adequately fit the game?

because at first i thought you supported my arguement that just eliminating dupes entirely, adding many many more items, eliminating mules, and making gold serve more of a purpose.

but now i dont exactly comprehend what your stance is.

Don't let people buy any worthwhile items from NPC's. NPC's have NO USE for any item, so why the fuck would they ever something reasonable for it.

Gold should be the main form Currency. You know why? Because I know the definition of currency.

Sorry for being a bit rude, but it was the best way I could put it.

uhh i dont understand? .... i never said the currency would be items to NPC/merchants, it would still be gold of course.

but between player to player it should be items.

example: why would i trade my Bonesnap to someone for 200,000 gold when that will just allow me to buy potions, lame weapons, or portals from a merch.

now if you say Merchants should sell ELITE weapons, well then theres no point in trading when i can just farm easy enemies constantly that drop gold and just stock my player up quickly with ELITE items.

either way your arguement for making gold the main currency holds no water.... unless the WHOLE mechanics of the game are entirely gutted
and replaced (which wouldnt happen because blizzard is staying true to the franchise)

all that needs to be done is :
    - elimintate duping
    - add a shit load of more uniques, rares, set items
    - making specific items hard to come by more than once thus making mules useless
    - have gold serve more of a purpose like purchasing favors from merchants/npcs : i.e. upgrading stash size, respecing stats/skills, adding sockets to weapons, etc etc.

Mario is almost as smart as I am.

But I disagree with most of you: I loved the D2 economy. I found it fascinating to watch as it evolved - and the market crashes! Like in USWest in 1.09 when a dupe was made publically and readily available for a day or two and SoJ's flooded the market, causing a huge crash in the SoJ price. Haha you could write a thesis on that shit and how it realtes to pre-depression markets in Germany.
I also beleive that gold as a currency would be good and I disagree with what Mario said about it not being viable. Yes I agree that diablo would need to be changed in such as way as to support this, but it's silly to imagine that it couldn't work. Just because a blood moor quill rat drops gold (and items which can be sold for gold) does not necessarily make it any different from D2 currency (SoJ's, wrings, HR's...). Could not these quill rats drop SoJ's too? (hell difficulty, of course.) As such, either way a noob could buy items which he could not find himself for his current skill or location. Let me give you an example: Joe hasn't the strength to get past the blood moor in hell, but he was lucky enough to find 3 SoJ's off the quill rats - let's just pretend he got lucky, ok? So he now can afford a windforce. Now Joe can proceed with confidence to take on the Cold Plains. Why is this different to collecting gold from monsters? All that needs to happen is an increase in gold price. Simple macroeconomics right there.

    --Jimbo

dont understand if you are mocking me or what but ill ignore.

Ive got a rebuttle: Gold drops on about 90% of all creatures and not just 1 gold at a time.

if you alter the drop rate of gold to reflect that of sojs in diablo2 (which is what you said, to change the current into only GOLD) makes it unrealitic in the game. think of it in a lore sense....why would gold be harder to come by than an AXE or SOJ if its the main currency?

you guys are getting it wrong, have an open free trade market is the best for this game. and SOJ currency never worked anyways. you cant have 1 specificed item as the main form of currency in this game because this game contain Randomized drops. you will either get an over abundance of currency (gold) that you can just exploit, or you will end up with a currency thats few and far in between(soj, when dupes are eliminated); resulting in No trade.

having the market open and free for a player to trade any item he wishes to anyone thats willing to comply is the best way to be.

just give gold more purpose like: upgrading stash, socketing items, respecing stats/skills, etc etc.

this also opens oppurtunities for more Merchants to play a bigger role in the story aspect, because you more character development can happen through conversing with merchants while wanting to have your item socketed for instance.

you know what thats interesting....having the mercents or even decard cain charge you to use the horadric cube.

hmmm its obviously going to cut down the amount of things made, i like it.

even having gold be used to socket, respec skills/stats are great ideas.

just Dont i repeat dont have Gold give you the ability to buy any item you want by making it the main form of currency, thats ridiculous.
