Dude, after your santa claus thread... I dunno.Posted in: General Discussion (non-Diablo) -

Equinox posted a message on Respecs can be expected (confirmed, i guess)Everyone may follow the "optimal PvE setup". Kudos to them ruining their own game. I won't. xDPosted in: Diablo III General Discussion
But at least this time I won't be afraid of trying out my own builds because I can make myself stuck in Nightmare... -

FreezeMe posted a message on Respecs can be expected (confirmed, i guess)Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "Genesis" »The main problem with respecing if its too easy, or if every character gets 1 free respec
Everyone will create the same exact cookie cutter builds (even more so than normal) up until high level, then they will respec and turn their character into what they actually want
Meaning there could potentially be even less character customization and variation at the low and mid levels
I think it will be the exact opposite. Players only have cookie cutter builds because someone does the math and finds out the optimal end-game build. If you can re-spec to the optimal cookie cutter build at any point then its the leveling builds that will vary greatly because players know any points in can be changed later.
Just look at D2. The fun of playing at low levels is sacrificed because everyone wants the same end-game build and needs to hoard points for it. Add re-specing and problem solved. -

Morden79 posted a message on Respecs can be expected (confirmed, i guess)I hate to mention this, especially this being my second post, but I think everyone on this forum is too wrapped up on what is "Diablo". Anyone who says "Respecing would not be Diablo" makes a fool of themselves in my eyes every time I see it.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I started playing Diablo when a second Diablo was a joke of a notion. Back in those days, there was NO TALENT TREES. Though I quit Diablo long before Diablo 2 came out, were I part of the D2 discussion (much as we are the D3 discussion), I would have utmost and entirely shunned the idea of a talent tree to begin with. In the first Diablo, you did have some stupid tree telling you what you can and cannot do. In fact, all three classes were capable of of all types of combat, however each class was stronger in one particular style.
The point I am making is that, though at the time I would have shunned the idea of talent trees to begin with (for the same fact that it woudln't feel "Diablo"), it actually turned out pretty darned fun. That being said, I think we ALL need to stfu about what is "Diablo" and what is not. That is not for us to decide, that is for BLIZZARD to decide. The day Blizzard hires you, then you can decide what is "Diablo" or not, but until then spare us the head ache. It does little for us all, respec is coming and Bashiok confirmed it. If respecs are not "Diablo" enough for you, than maybe you are the one who doesn't know what "Diablo" really is.
That being said, I think we should all accept what Blizz is offering us. Diablo 2 changed the way the game was played forever in comparison to Diablo, and if Diablo 3 changes the whole game again, do you really think it will mean that the game will be any less fun? -

whiteghost21 posted a message on 4 Max Players!?!id rather 4 players to be honest. It makes the game more fun. Look at other games with max 4 players. Left 4 Dead for instance. It gives the game a greater dependence on teamwork and strategy. I feel like more than 4 people will result in spamming area skills and chaotic moshpits like in Baal runs. 4 is plenty.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion -

This might be it, though the question is worded strange if so.Quote from "Killer-Swift" »
"As a pilot comes out of a dive in a circular arc, she experiences an upward acceleration of 9.0g's.
a) If the pilot's mass is 60kg, what is the magnitude of the force applied to her by her seat at the bottom of the arc?
Since the pilot is at the bottom of the arc, there's only one vector, and it's straight up. If she accelerates upwards with 9 g's, then the seat is pushing at her with that exact force. Add to that the Earth's pull, and the seat as to press with 1 additional g to make up for the gravitational pull down, which adds up to 10 g's.
60*9,81*10=5886=5,9*10^3 N
Ok, so we have the centripetal acceleration from the previouse example. Using the forumlaQuote from "Killer-Swift" »
If the speed of the plane i 330km/h, wat is the radius of the plane's arc?"
a=(v^2)/r, we can eaasily figure out the radius of the loop, by first converting the speed to m/s.
9*9,81=(91,7^2)/r
r=95,2
Which however seems awfully small. I'm not so sure about that last part, half a year since I did this. Hope it helps though -

DieHardBastionFan posted a message on Time loops are the key to immortality?Posted in: General Discussion (non-Diablo)Quote from "Lydeck" »It still seems completely absurd to me. Oh well.
I still don't see how if something is four light years away from our planet, and you travel at the speed of light from our planet to and from, how it's a decade and not 8 years. :|
Actually, if you traveled at the speed of light, even for a "second", you would reach "infinity". You're basing your logic in Newton laws (the physics we all know and use) but they are not exactly accurate. They work in everyday situations, but if you try using them with near-light speeds they are useless. This is because Newton did his research thinking that time was invariant (that's the word?), but actually it's tied to space, in what it's called time-space (yes, that exists, it's not sci-fi). This means that time depends on speed.
An example: Let's say you are traveling in a "plane" of some sort, at, let's say, 99% the speed of light, and you have a watch with you. For an outside observer, your watch would be ticking reeeally slowly, something like 1 second per 1 minute in his watch. But for you, your seconds are ticking fine, but everything in the outside is going reeeally fast (and not because you are going fast), maybe even a whole minute goes by when in your watch it was just a second.
It's hard to understand because it's not how we think time would work. If you want, do some research on Einstein Relativity, I find it a really interesting topic - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I see that Blizzard waited until I was gone before revealing another class. Typical.
Now I'm going to tech school for the next 6 months. To give this thread some actual purpose, any questions about the Air Force or basic? Anything else big happen in the past couple months?
Nice to be back to semi-civilization.

2. Read books.
3. Spend seven minutes deciding which char to try.
4. Spend twelve minutes coming up with a name.
5. Get to level ~15.
6. Realize I screwed up something.
7. Spend four minutes debating whether to restart.
8. Decide to try different character.
9. Repeat from step 3 until all chars have been tried.
10. ????
11. PROFIT!

If I just described you, well at least you have an interest in Diablo so you're redeemed.

And the thing about Crossfit is, they don't care what your personal goals are. They'll get you there, as well as a few places you didn't plan on reaching. Like I said, the point is to prepare you for any physical endeavor you will ever meet.
A bit of trivia: Mark Twight, who trained the cast of 300, was a Crossfit affiliate.
