posted a message on Please, Blizzard, let there be a monthly fee.
Maybe for every month you are subscribed to playing diablo3 with the monthly fee Blizzard will send you a gas card that will shave off $0.05 cents a gallon. No, thats kinda horrible.

However, what about having the availabilty to subscribe and that allows faster leveling or the availability to respec... who knows. Then again such a feature will divide the Diablo3 players into another scenario of haves and havenots. Many "free" mmo games have this feature and you can play without paying but the system always feels to be built for the ones that do pay. Thoughts?

A few people have brought up how respec costing large amounts of gold would increase the value of it in the economy. Having gold be just as valuable in trading as powerful items.

Either way the frequency and scarcity of gold will also be important; how important it is with other parts of the game. I think what makes this thread so intense and alive is that respec is a relatively new concept, especially to the Diablo universe.

I don't think a timer between availabilty to respec has been brought up. An in game timer for between respecing or, you only have 15 minutes to respec the last skill you just put in.

In my opinion I think the only mulligan you should get is in the stat spend screen. They should make it so you have to confirm your stats/skills expenditures. After you confirm it then you are stuck with it. It makes it so that you cant waste into the wrong skill or put one in energy for no reason. You feel me?

I hear you; however, putting skill points into skills the first time with only a mulligan idea its all theory no practice. Putting many points into skeletons seems like a good idea initially, but when I played D2 by the 2nd act if you didn't have mages or some major bone skills you'd might as well start over.

Since diablo 2 gave some nice things as quest rewards, and with the greater the difficulty the bigger the payout on the forge or the malus quest... Having the respec be part of a quest could be a compromise. Only once per difficulty where normal allowed you x number of skills pionts ot respec, nitemare 2x and Hell 3x.

posted a message on If Blizzard just makes another Diablo 2 clone, I'm not even going to look at it
If its a Diablo 2 Clone that's refreshing and full of people interested in playing then yeah I'll enjoy it. It's a hack and slash pick up loot and put it on. I'm not expecting a revolutionary concept from this one, and I wouldn't want it to be too much different from the others in the series.

Blizzard could think up some ridiculous idea for a sport and make it mmo with teams and matches.

Here we go, you can choose to have FFA, Own loot, or Rolling drops based on Party preference.
Either a voting system, or the Leader chooses. I played GuildWars for a little while, I think that had something with the party leader choosing.

    Quote from "Alavard" »
I kind of think they should reserve set items for the highesst levels of play. There is not much use in set items pre-20 or 30, when you're levelling so fast.

I could see a minimum of Blizzard having a Tier system of sets for higher levels that WoW does for their gear.
Taking out cool sounding names for this guy's or that gal's ancient armor takes away from the Diablo lore in a way.
There's something fascinating with having lore about characters, and items worked into that... "Wow this is Tyrael's Sword, I feel more connected with the story." It's that sort of experience that Blizzard doesn't want the player to lose, its what makes Diablo so involving.

One always has to hope for a well polished game released on time, but if it takes longer oh well as long as its good.
Anyone know the time between beta's and releases? Or demos. I don't know how much that could help since fixing issues from the beta could take any amount of time based on the difficulty.

Christmas this year, would be amazing. A demo by Christmas would be just as good. Or any holiday or religious celebration in December.

I'd say maybe small respec, like you have to spend experience or gold on it though, and lots of them.

    :D
Well having it cost experience might be the way to go, because people can't just give you experience. Maybe having you level down and lose a skill point in a selected skill might work, so you'd have to work more to get it into the area you want.

Except for the abuse of leveling up and getting good items, and then being to lose levels and keep your nice items so that the character is more powerful at such a low level. (Although you could get those items anyways from someone else or another character.)

Hardcore players I'm thinking not at all. No respec for them. C'mon guys you're hardcore, you die permanently.

Doesn't Blizzard horde money through WoW subscriptions.
They'll stick with good ol' free battle.net because they can.

Getting to Diablo in D2 felt a lot simpler and easier than the first.

Titan Quest had an 'undo' button that would last as long as the skill window was still up in case you accidentally allocated a point, but as far as normal respecs go...

TQ also has a person you can go to and respec a point for 500g, which is almost nothing. But the next point is 1000g, then 1500, etc. I didnt' play online enough to hear people's view on that. An exponential increase of cost for each additional point.
Not that pricy if you messed up a little, but entire respecs would be really expensive.

Whichever class has the most buffs, and is pretty buff for the first time.
I'll spill into spellcaster after I have a few decent drops I can give it found by the diesel damage dealer.

Tetris inventory was stupid, with all the potions, scrolls, charms, maybe some backup/MF gear... you could pick up 1 to 2 items before you were full....

With the way of having 2 weapons sets, couldn't they introduce 2 or 3 different armor sets on the character that don't take up your inventory. Surely there is PvE and PvP gear for everyone and this Diablo's MagicFind gear equivalent.

Why not have items be stackable and make the tetris squares smaller.
    Problem solved.
Also screen resolution is much higher these days meaning they can fit more on-screen.

Stackable potions and simple items is a must. Also very probable.

I must agree that the old system, realistic or not, just feels better. An "auto organize" button is alright to combat the tetris issue, but the fact that you can carry as many sets of armor as you can sheets of paper does not make much sense.

I was surprised WoW did not have something like auto-organize buttons in their menus, but the update of TitanQuest or maybe it was its' expansion definitely had a feature like that.
It worked wonders and cleared up that space quickly.

With space being always a problem once its filled up TitanQuest allowed your character to carry more based upon level, which is a great idea instead of buying more and more bags.
    I hate the bag system.
